   So this is it!  Never Mended is no more and we have in its place the new and improved Touka Koukan!  It really is amazing what watching those chinese epic movies will do for the creative juices.  lol  Nevertheless, I had been intending to get back to this eventually, and here I finally am!  No promises on the length of time between updates as I have classes, but I really do intend to finish this fic.  Happy reading, and remember I really do love reviews!

  
  

  
   

  
  

  
   

  
  

  
   

  
  

  
  Prologue:

  
  

  
  The night was deafening in its silence.  Midnight stars lightened the velvet sky just enough to trick the eyes into seeing shadows move just beyond the edge of vision.  Nothing moved.  Nothing stirred.  Time moved onward; the witching hour ever approaching.

  
  

  
  In an instant the world was lighted with blue shivers of lightning.  Storm clouds began to gather overhead, rumbles of thunder breaking the stillness as alchemy on the grandest of scales upset the natural balances of the world, and it was in this moment, when the newly born storm loosed itself in a maelstrom of frightening intensity and power that Edward Elric was cast back from the depths of the Gate.

  
  

  
  Still crackling in silver blue sparks, he glowed golden as though something otherworldly.  The white flashes of electricity served to make him seem even brighter as several stuck the ground behind the boy who stood straight and tall after having come back from the realm of souls.

  
  

  
  Dimly it seemed as though, if one were looking, behind the boy a huge dark mass of swirling matter closed behind great ornately carved doors, and surely if any were to be close enough to listen they would hear the voice, neither male nor female, which slithered its way through crashing thunderclaps to offer the boy one final curse.
