yay!! i finally reached a lemon! it was great, and i look forward to more, as always. poor ed... he's so depressed. and al's finally letting some of his feelings for winry show! he's so sweet, i love al to pieces. and BAD MUSTANG!!! he's drinking too much. shame shame.~

chapter 6:

okay! i really do like this. i was so, i want to say 'happy', but that would make me out to be as big a bastard as mustang, when they finally fought. but it was just a relief. i knew it was coming and the tension was killing me!! also, i have othello too! i liked that game a lot when i was younger. i even knew what it was without the endnote!! *feels special and pats own back* unfortunately, it is time, again, to go to bed. hopefully i will be back tomorrow! anyway, i was afraid ed was going to try to drown himself in the bathtub, partly because that would have been what i would have writeen/done in your/his position. (i do have a slight depression problem) ANYWAY!!! i keep getting off track! great story, i hope roy and ed make some connections, and i hope al and them find out ed's not in a ditch and that ed finds out al isn't dead! looking forward to more!!~

chapter 3:

okay, i'm intrigued. i hope to be able to return soon, but that may not be the case with a paper to write, another story to read, and halloween shopping to do. when i come back, i'll be sure to drop a review and let you know! also: thank you for pointing out that they aren't japanese. i knew it, i think, but it hadn't really clicked properly in my head. so thanks. i do like how ed and al are just being increasingly pissy, and i look forward to more. but for the time, i am off to bed!~

this is a wonderfully written story and I can't wait for the rest. I especially liked Ed's reaction in the bar as though I'm 21 I'm lucky if i'm not id'd for 15 and it's exactly those sort of thoughts that run through my head. obviously not the military uniform but it really is something you do if you ook underage you try to find an outfit that makes you look at least credible because it's irritating an embarressing to be asked for Id again and again every single time you go to the bar and find that it's a different barman you have to resist the urge to snap 'look I'm not only overage but I'm probably capable of introducing you to this bartop without breaking a sweat and it's not even like i'm asking for more than a coke so don't ask.' I like how Ed's growing and maturing without becoming really un-Ed like. Thanks for the story

Ed has got some serious bad luck where telephones are concerned! First, Roy is shot and bleeding all over the place (;_;) when he called and now Al's relationship with Winry is going to hell in a handbasket! *sigh* I have an uncle who used to be the world's worst for drunk dialing. *smiles fondly* It was annoying as hell when he'd call at some crazy hour but some of the stuff he would say would be quite entertaining. completely incoherent but funny as hell. You had to be there I guess. Anyway, it breaks my heart to see Ed using Roy's coping mechanism (i.e. drowning his sorrows in alcohol) to get him thru the day. T_T Be strong, Ed! You can't let yourself get all messed up on that stuff! It (the alcohol) only makes a broken heart hurt worse and you need to stay sharp with Hakuro watching you like a hawk! I still wanna throttle that damned Havoc for getting Ed hooked on those godforsaken cigarettes! grr!! In fact, I think I will! *grabs Havoc and proceeds to throttle, kick, mangle, and do otherwise very bad things to him!* AH! *dusts off hands* Much better! *evil grin*

Applejack. Amaretto Sour. Red Death. Fiery Blue Mustang. *smiles and shakes head* Where do they come up with these names? :) Personally, I like Fiery Blue Mustang - the name not the drink! Too strong for me! I have zero tolerance. I'm worse than Ed. :)

I don't know why it was so funny but Ed sitting down to pee cracked me up! It wasn't meant to be funny I know but it hit me just right I guess. Sounds like something a little kid would do. :) *hides* No, Ed, I wasn't calling you little! *runs* :)

this only leaves me wanting more, i hope you know. and i think i want to try that drink now. that is, if the second rate bartenders around here know how to make it, haha.

i'm feeling so sorry for ed. and i'm starting to worry for al and winry and where their relationship is going to end up. man, there is so much angst... i'm in love with so much angst, even when it makes me eat my heart out.

review chapter 40

okay, now that was tragic. (like this entire story hasn't been!) so sad to see all those repeated patterns and continued interpersonal screw-ups. and then finally--finally--ed gets the courage to call his brother and his brother is so messed up that he doesn't answer.

i think you broke my heart a little with this one. of course i can think of an entire fic that you've writtent that did that as well.

honestly, though, its some nice work yet again. and thanks for the mixed drink recepie here; i'll have to try that one at my next bar night.

WOW I'm really impressed. I spent most of the day reading this. I'm so glad to have found something so in depth. I find it hard sometime to keep my interest in something with so many chapters, but you've done it! Of course I'll cry if you actually make Roy dead. I cant wait until Ed an Al make up. Hmmm will you be killing off Russell or will he get saved? Argh! So many questions. I guess I'll have to be patient and wait until next chapter is posted.

I'd love it if you could add me to your "chapter notification" list. I really want to see how this play out.

OMFG, they were talking about mustang!!!!!! those two whispering dudes in the library!! at least... they better have been, because it means he's alive, but their choice in words worried me. they made me feel as if they were brainwashing roy, like roy wouldn't be himself when they finally let him go. but then again, are they going to let him go? they were just saying something about releasing information or something.

and what's this at the end!? havoc and riza and mustang's orders!! what orders!!? weren't those two the chief people who disagreed with roy's plan in the first place? what's going to happen if they change the plan of which no one knows about, aside from you? man, i am so damn excited for the next chapter! hopefully more answers are forthcoming.

and if you haven't heard it in enough chapter reviews already and can't tell by the many exclamation points used in this one, i love this story.

Ya know, when Roy does come back (*glares at Zakai* He better be coming back soon or I won't forgive you! :D), he's gonna be amazed at how much Ed has changed! He's a lt colonel now, he's learning to control his temper (Ed, my friend, I feel your pain on this one!), he's forming new relationships with Havoc et al, he's learning office politics, and, thanks to Gracia, he's finding out that he and Roy really do have a real relationship! He just might figure out he's in love after all! :) Our little Ed is so grown up now! *dabs tear from eye, realizes she just said 'little', sees Ed glaring, smiles apologetically then runs like hell from the manic mini typhoon! XD*

Who knew one could learn so much from a simple game of chess? ;) All of the lessons Ed's learned so far have come during the play of this game; which means he'll either grow to love the game or hate it. Poor Ed got stomped by Breda! ouch! I bet Breda and Fuery would give each other a run for their money if they played each other! :) Does everybody in Roy's inner circle play chess? Looks like it. Must be a military tactics training thing.

I think my favorite part of this was Ed's confrontation with Hakuro! Ed really was like Roy when he got in a few really good jabs at Hakuro without it being too obvious he was being totally insincere! :D Loved it!! The way he indirectly accused Hakuro of hiding Roy, good one! It really pissed me off when Hakuro said, "You understand me, boy?", after he'd chewed Ed out for not being mature and not respecting the chain of command!! Boy?!? Yeah, that's showing respect for a fellow officer - NOT!! grr!! I'm not surprised Hakuro is involved in Roy's disappearance. He's hated Roy for so long I wouldn't be surprised if Hakuro himself was the one who shot Roy in the first place! "That�s what I like to see, colonel. It�s good to see that you can be trained when a firm hand is applied." *raspberries* Careful General. Even a tame dog will bite if you provoke it enough. ;) I hope Ed finds a way to stick it to Hakuro! Both Hakuro and Douglass are total assholes!

I really really really really really wish Ed would stop smoking. *sigh* Just one more reason why I should beat the hell out of Havoc! grr! I'm curious about what he and Riza are talking about. It's been so long since Roy's plans began that I can't remember what they were. :( Maybe next chapter will help me remember.

It's kinda fallen by the wayside, but are you ever gonna tell how Ed got Al's body back? I'm still curious about that. Speaking of curious, that conversation Sheska overheard was very interesting! I'd be trying to sneak down the aisle to overhear more! bad me! :D Hakuro's henchmen are getting fidgety and talking too much perhaps?

Yay! I'm glad Ed was able to fix some stuff. And that whole scene in Gen Haruko's offices was priceless! And you have managed to make the plot even thicker. Damn this just gets better with every chapter! I love how Ed is slowly learning, and how the chess analogies keep playing in the story. If Ed didn't do a little head butting he just wouldn't be Ed!

and now for the rant part of this review: WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OUR ROY!?!?!?!?!!? Give him back!
