WARNINGS: Violence…not many warnings in this one, but don’t worry, there shall be more later on :)
A/N – I couldn’t make up my mind in which one I wanted to post (you will all find out later on in The New Kid In Town) so I decided to post both of them. I’m sure by the title you guys can guess what this one’s about (and I probably spoiled the other one for you >.>) and no, it is not a songfic. This one I’ve been working on for a couple years now and ‘still’ writing. However, I am unsure of how it will go and definitely unsure in how it will end. If you guys are interested enough, suggestions are welcome. Now the inspiration I got from Hellsing (the movie with Hugh Jackman in it :3), Red Riding Hood (the latest romantic one), Ginger Snaps, True Blood, probably Twilight (or more like…New Moon), and blended it with some of my own creativity. :)
Summary: This takes place back in the days where curses and superstitions were more real and creatures of myth roamed the earth. However, this revolves more around the prince of humans and the prince of beasts and how they deal with the war between their kind.

Something Exquisite
The young prince sighed in boredom as his teacher went on about his studies while he gazed out the window at the setting sun. His father will be leaving to attend the ‘adult’ meeting soon. He wished he could go. He never gets to go out, especially at this time of month when the moon was full. Even though the prince knew the reason, he still wished to attend the meetings. He wanted to be among the adults and make decisions like they do, but instead he was stuck in his enormous home with nothing to do except to stay safe.
“Your highness, aren’t you paying attention?” The teacher asked the young prince in an impatient manner. The young royal turned towards his teacher nonchalantly and sighed once again. “I honestly don’t know why I’m wasting my time teaching you if you’re not going to pay attention.” The man closed the book he was reading out of and pulled off his spectacles as he scrutinized his student.
The prince frowned at the man and turned towards the window, once again ignoring him. “He’s right, son. Why do you think you sit here day in and day out? Because you fail to pay attention. Maybe if you were more compliant, you wouldn’t have to.” The prince and the teacher turned their attention towards the king who just entered the room.
“My king, are you off to the meeting?” The teacher asked with a slight bow to the King’s entrance.
The king answered with a nod as he situated his clothing where it should be. The prince stood from his seat. “Father, I wish to come with you!”
The king tensed. “No! You know the rule. Children are not allowed outside during a full moon. No child would probably return home. Now, stay put and do as the servants say until I come back.” With that, the king left the room.
The prince growled and stared hard at the floor as the teacher bowed to his king’s exit. “Have a safe trip, your majesty.”
With the thud of the main doors closing, the prince sat back down and went to staring out the window again. He watched his father enter the carriage and ride off into the woods. His eyes narrowed as he watched the carriage sway slightly on the graveled path. His father was overreacting. He wanted to attend the meeting and if it was safe for his father, then it should be safe for him. Honestly, he didn’t know what all the fuss was about. Maybe if he knew how to handle a sword, he could leave the castle whenever he wanted. The prince smirked at the thought. Speaking of swords, his father had a collection of them in his chambers. With that in mind, the young royal stood from his seat and went to his destination.
The teacher perked up as his student up and left. “Young prince, where are you going? We have another hour until your studies are done.”
The prince paused on his way. “I think I’ll retire early. Listening to you ramble on all day is giving me a headache. In the meantime, I suggest you figure out a new way to keep my attention instead of droning on in that monotone noise that you call a voice.” He kept on walking.
“Why I never…” The teacher trailed off; afraid of whatever else he might say may earn him another insult.

The carriage lurched to a stop as the king stepped out and made his way into the manor. It was a cozy place, if hunting was one’s passion. The main hallway was lined with the heads of many animals in the area and tools and weapons were hung between them. The king scowled at the decorations as he strutted to the briefing room, where allies and the lord who owned the manor were located. As soon as he reached it, yelling was heard through the mahogany doors and other murmured voices accompanied the arguments. The king sighed as he opened the doors and was greeted with the noise.
“Please, we must follow the treaty-” One lord reasoned as another argued.
“They’ve broken the treaty! It’s time for us to act! They have killed many of us for their food! Why should we keep to the treaty if they won’t?” Others backed up the opposing lord in a roar of their approval. “When it comes down to it, we must fight for our lives! Gentlemen, we are at war! We’ve been at war for years with these beasts and it’s about time we face it!” The other lords said nothing as their brother spoke of malice.
The king sat in the shadows of the room and watched the event. The royal wasn’t about to argue against his ally. Mainly because he agreed. After all, his wife was one of the victims that fell prey to the beasts they spoke of. In fact, the man spoke the words right out of his mind. He turned his attention to the other lords who considered their brother’s words and scowled at them. Why won’t they say anything? Surely they must agree. They were not sheep meant to slaughter. They weren’t the beasts’ livestock, they were humans with more meaning and purpose. This was their land. It was about time they reclaimed it.
What seemed like an eternity of arguments later, one of the silent lords stood and spoke their decision. “We were hoping it wouldn’t have to come to this. If we fight, we die and if we don’t fight…we die anyway. It seems we have no other choice but to fight back. At least we’ll have a chance then. So, we have come to the conclusion…that we are indeed at war. We will gather again to make plans for our attack and return here same time tomorrow. Now, hurry home to your families before the full moon rises.” The lord waved his arm towards the exit as people murmured in agreement and began to leave the room. “King Vegeta. I did not see you come in.” The lord spoke in a tired manner as he addressed the royal.
The king strutted forward. “That was my intention.” He narrowed his eyes at the men who called themselves the royal council. “It’s about time you fools finally came to your senses. If it were me, I would have announced the obvious from the start.”
The lord that ended the meeting sighed. “We know more than anyone of the grief you went through three years ago, but it also would’ve been a brash action. Even though our beloved queen is gone, doesn’t mean that it’s an automatic card to war.”
“Wouldn’t it though? If killing my wife wasn’t the sign then I don’t know what was. Hell, maybe the countless lives of the villagers over the past ten years wasn’t the sign neither. I bet even if me or my son were murdered that wouldn’t be the sign either.” The king explained sarcastically as his frustration grew.
The lord held up his hands in surrender. “Alright, your majesty, we understand. We’re truly sorry about the queen, but what else could we do? Their territory is impenetrable. The place is crawling with guards of their kind. What did you want us to do? Go to our death for one life?”
The king couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “What are you trying to tell me?! That fighting over the death of your queen wasn’t enough to die for?! That you couldn’t gather up all the silver in the world and weaken the beasts and kill them?! Your excuses are weak and there’s nothing you can say that’ll make up for your mistakes! What’s done is done and there’s no going back! Right now, you better make up for all the years you wasted in handing us over on a wooden platter!” The king left after his rant, not giving the lords any room to respond.
The lord sighed again in his place. His explanation probably wasn’t the right one, but what else could he say to the stricken king? The man was still grieving over the loss of his wife and was still seeking revenge while they avoided war at all costs. Mainly to prevent more lives from being taken, but even that wasn’t helping. It seemed the only answer ‘was’ war. He thought of the last words the king said. Wooden platter. If it were silver, then at least they would be getting some sort of revenge out of it, but that was just plain…cold. The lord growled, “Curse those werewolves.” He grumbled lowly as he left to return to his family as well.

Raditz smiled softly as he watched his baby brother sleep. He looked exactly like their father and was only three years old. He wasn’t even considered a cub yet until his thirteenth year, since werewolves live much longer than the average human. The eldest prince reached down and petted his brother’s untamed mane. It was so soft. For a moment, he considered if he was that soft when he was a baby. He stared intently at the youngest prince’s peaceful cherubic face. It was almost hard to believe that someday this little guy will be the strongest of their kind. Not to mention a whole new generation of werewolf. Silver won’t have any effect on him and the moon will feel twice as powerful, giving him the strength to be the ultimate killer and the power to be the best king of them all. Raditz’s smile turned one into fondness. He couldn’t believe he was related to such a magnificent creature. Envy took place in the eldest prince once again. Not only because of his little brother’s unique power, but because their father cherished him the most. “Prince Raditz, your father requests your presence.” A guard ruined the sibling moment.
Raditz frowned as he stood. “Fine.” His knee length mane swayed as he turned and left the room. His father probably wanted to plan another attack on the humans. Honestly, this game of ‘win and never losing’ was getting old. When will the humans get it through their head and attack already? At least then his prey will be more fun to eat. He smirked at the thought. He didn’t bother knocking as he entered his father’s chambers. “You wanted something?” Raditz asked in a bored tone as he waited for a response.
The king of beasts sighed as a stern, but determined look graced his features. “Yes. I’m tired of devouring the same old squirmy weaklings that dare walk around us. I think it’s time we tried something…more exquisite and hard to get.” Bardock licked his lips as if tasting the flavor from a memory.
The prince perked up at his father’s words. He was always willing to try something new. “And that is?”
Bardock looked to his son with a malicious grin. “Let’s get ourselves a royal dinner. Maybe that should strike that delicious fear into the very souls of the meat sacks with legs.”
The eldest prince couldn’t help but grin along with his father. The thought of picking the royal’s meat out of his teeth was something fascinating. “Why, that does sound exquisite. I’m willing to try it.” It seemed his father was back for seconds on the royal family. Raditz always wondered what the queen tasted like.
The king’s grin lessened into a smile of pride as he walked over to his son and stared him down. “Then it’s decided. Come with me tonight and we shall make it happen.” He placed a hand on the prince’s shoulder, encouraging him to go with him.
Raditz didn’t think another second on it. “I will.”
Bardock smirked. “Perfect. We leave when the moon is high. I’ll tell the servants to care for your little brother while we’re away.” He didn’t wait for a reply and left the room.
Raditz stood where he was, pure excitement taking over his being as he imagined running through the dark woods with his father alone towards their rich meal. He shivered in delight at the image. Oh yes, he could not wait to sink his teeth into something exquisite.

The young prince Vegeta pulled an unexpectedly heavy sword from his father’s collection and examined it. It was really shiny and looked sharp. Once he got a firm hold of it, he swung it around a couple times to test its swiftness. Why wouldn’t his father teach him how to sword fight? That way, his father wouldn’t have to be so worried about him and he can defend himself. The young prince swung the sword around a bit faster and lost his balance, causing him to stumble back and fall to the floor. The sword merely landed beside him as it lay loosely in his hand. He growled at the pain in his backside then sat up and pulled the sword up in his lap and scowled at it. However, he just huffed in his place and stood once again to do a few more jabs and swings. Hopefully, he’ll get tired of the exercise before his father returns.

The king felt on edge as the carriage slowly made its way back towards his home. He wanted to hurry and be home with his son. The royal looked up at the bright orb in the starless sky and narrowed his eyes at it, almost as if it were a shame for being there. Sadly, the moon is needed for the nature of things while it is needed for the evil of things. The king sighed in impatience as he eagerly waited to reach their destination and stared off into the darkness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two figures sprinted through the woods as other creatures of the area fled from the sight of the beasts. Padded feet and heavy breathing filled the still night air as the two werewolves raced towards their destination. They dodged trees and other such objects in their path, their excitement getting the best of them as they jumped up into the trees and jumped from one to every other before landing on the ground again. Their dark fur bristled and blended into the darkness, every once in a while the moon reflecting their shiny coat. ‘Almost there.’ One thought as they neared the castle and the scent of the residents greeted them only a few miles away. ‘Almost there.’
The young prince’s skin crawled again when he heard the sliding of metal as he put the sword back where he found it. For some reason, that sound gave him the chills. He can only imagine what it sounds like actually cutting someone with that weapon. So far, he tested out five of them and none of them seemed to suit him. His gaze scanned the shelves again as he decided which one to try next. A smaller blade with a black and gold hilt caught his eye and he carefully picked it up; testing its weight. Surprisingly, the blade was light while the hilt was a bit heavy; probably from the gold melded into it. Vegeta carefully waved the blade into the air and watched as the light glinted off of the blade. The prince paused. Light? He lowered his stance and looked out the window and noticed that the full moon was up. How could it be that late already? He guessed time flies when he’s actually having fun. He froze when he caught something out of the corner of his eye and looked down to where he saw the movement. The young prince stared carefully into the night and saw the movement again. What was that? It looked like a large shadow.
Vegeta jumped when he heard a thud and froze as he deciphered what that sound could be. Oh, it was the main doors. His father probably returned. The young prince went to put away the sword until that same movement caught his eye. He slowly turned his head towards the window again, but gasped as a soft glow of light appeared in his father’s chambers. He looked towards the doorway and saw his father standing there with anger in his eyes. “Vegeta! You know better than to enter my chambers without permission! Especially when handling my…” The king trailed off as his stern gaze seemed to catch something outside the window and his anger turned into shock when he saw a pair of eyes stare at him hungrily. “Vegeta!”
Everything seemed to slow down. The young prince hesitantly turned his gaze towards the window while the king rushed forward, dropping the lantern, to retrieve his son. The next thing the prince heard was the window shattering and the pieces of glass rained upon them as his father protected him from the shards. When he looked up, he saw two black creatures fly into the room and hit the wall behind them, blocking their only exit. Vegeta only got a glimpse of the beasts until they disappeared once again and the next thing he knew, his father was no longer beside him and he felt a sudden pain in his back and abdomen. He screamed at the unexpected pain and hit the floor. Feeling a weight on top of him, he looked up through squinted eyes that suddenly got wider when he noticed a furry coat. He looked down towards his stomach and noticed the coat was attached to the werewolf’s claws that were around him. The young prince gasped as the creature tightened his hold around him, then released him. The werewolf almost seemed to grin as it slowly moved up the boy’s body and licked him from neck to hairline. The prince whimpered at the feeling of the warm and sticky appendage as he began to panic.
He was going to be eaten.
The beast seemed pleased by the small noise as it growled at him while its long tongue traced over its sharp teeth. The young prince felt like his heart stopped as fear raced throughout his whole being. Suddenly remembering he had a sword with him, he blindly searched for it as his hand frantically searched for the weapon. However, the werewolf didn’t give him a chance and grabbed his hair. For a moment, Vegeta vaguely wondered how it was possible for a werewolf to do that. Then again, this is the first time he’s ever seen one. The thought fled from his mind as an immense pain erupted into his left shoulder and he screamed.
The creature bit him.
The young prince screamed more when those powerful jaws cut deeper into his flesh and the beast’s claws raked through his royal attire, making shallow cuts in his torso. He heard his father’s panicked voice over his screams and wondered for an instant how the man was fairing. He got his answer as the werewolf released him and howled. Vegeta’s heart hammered in his chest as the beast moved to the side, barely dodging a blade that would’ve surely removed the creature’s head. Growls and yells of panic and determination filled the young prince’s ears as he laid on the floor bleeding. His vision blurred as he eagerly awaited the outcome of the battle or for his father to come and help him. He closed his eyes as he tried to regain his sense of self when he heard thudded footsteps and a shout.
He waited for another noise, a more comforting noise. Perhaps another howl that signaled that one of the beasts was wounded or maybe the sight of one of their heads rolling across the room, or maybe a limb. He waited for his father to come into view, to see if he was winning or losing, to see if he was alright. He waited. He waited for an eternity. The young prince tried to move to sit up, but couldn’t remember how. Sheer panic raced through him when he heard someone exit the building and then another similar sound. He stopped breathing for a moment as silence followed. Then…footsteps. Human steps. “Vegeta!” Finally, the king came and kneeled down beside him, checking to see if he was still alive.
The young prince started breathing again and sighed in relief at the sight of his father. It appeared he had been injured. Claw marks adorned his shoulder, arms, and torso. “Father…” Vegeta wanted to ask if his father was okay, but suddenly lacked the strength to do so.
The king looked like he was about to break down. “Shh. D-Don’t talk. You’re badly injured. Try to stay awake for me. Alright, son?” Vegeta could hear the tears in his father’s voice, but the king tried hard not to show them. Words no longer able to make it through his voice, Vegeta nodded instead. “Someone get in here! The prince is injured!” The king looked towards the doorway, either at someone or for someone, Vegeta couldn’t tell. All he heard were panicked voices and a few people gathered around him. Slowly, darkness filled his vision as the dying prince tried to stay awake for his father. “No, son, no! Stay with me! You’re not dying! Vegeta!” However strong his efforts may be, the prince could not keep his eyes open and fell unconscious.
Panic added to the adrenaline in the king as he tried to figure out what to do when he son fell unconscious. He just couldn’t accept the fact that he was dead. He couldn’t. His world felt like it was suddenly crumbling. No. Not his son. Anything but his son. His wife was already gone, not his son too. Just when the royal was about to lose it, the prince arched and moaned. The doctors tending to his wounds jumped back in surprise and moved back further when the prince screamed. The king’s mind froze for a moment, then felt relief. His son was alive, but…why was he screaming like that? The young prince continued to scream bloody murder as he writhed on the floor in his blood. He clawed at the floor and mumbled words of pain. “Wha-What’s wrong with him?” The king asked no one in particular as he tried to tend to his son. After a few moments, the prince seemed to be getting worse as the screams became louder and his writhing became more violent. The king looked to the doctors in his panic and confusion. “What’s wrong with my son?!”
