Chapter 12

“Hey Rai how ya going” Max asked him why they where both walking to the cafeteria together. “Fine thanks and you” he asked Max in return, “yeah not bad unfortunately though I have a test coming up which I’m not really looking forward to” Max told him. “You have a test man isn’t it rather early to have one I mean this is only the third week” Ray said. “Yeah but we have to do what the teachers tell us” Max replied.

They both met up with Tyson and the others, sitting at their usual spot they both sat down. “So did anyone do anything exciting on the weekend” Tyson asked them. Rai had not seen them in such a while. Tyson and Cole had hanged out together like a couple does on the week end. Max and Galen well not quite sure what they did. “So Max did you and Galen do anything together” he asked him. “Well we decided to go and see a movie which was nice” Max told him “yeah unfortunately we didn’t get to watch it all” Galen said. Of course everyone else at the table knew what they meant.

“So Rai how about you did you do anything exciting” Cole asked him, “no not really” he replied. “Man dude don’t you do anything on the weekend” Tyson then asked “well sometimes I do I just haven’t got time to do anything lately” he told them. “Well then are you planning to do anything this weekend” Tyson asked. A slight blush came up on Rai’s cheeks “well I’m kind of meeting someone” he said. “Really who a girl friend maybe” Tyson said laughing “not exactly just a friend” he replied, which of course was referring to Kai.

It had been two days since both him and Kai had officially become a couple which is what they both thought anyway. They did care for one another but they were both unsure if this new relationship was going to work or not. Kai had asked Rai to keep this a secret from everyone he knew. Even though they shared the same room together, they couldn’t really have actual physical contact with each other, if you no what I mean. People would probably get suspicious and being near one another around campus wouldn’t be a swell idea either.

Rai understood this and all because he knew that this college meant a whole lot to Kai. So he agreed to the secrecy of their new relationship. They both still had to act that they completely hate each other when they see each other during the day.

They both decided as they couldn’t be seen together they thought they might both take a road trip. Try and get use to being around each other and what being a couple is like. Being both guys was still a little acquired for the both of them. Kai had always dated girls and Rai well he had never dated any but he never thought he would end up being with another guy instead of a girl. He knew that there are many people who disagree with guy and guy relationships and same with girls. Well you cant really help who you fall for even if they are the same sex. Kai was strong he could handle anything but Rai as this was all new to him, he was the weak one out of the two.

When Rai told his friends that he was meeting a friend he wasn’t sure if they completely fell for it. As he had to keep his relationship with Kai a secret it was kind of hard not to lie to them. It was a shame really because he did want to tell them. They were gay as well and if he had any problems he knew that they would be the best people to talk to. Who knows maybe Kai would allow Rai to just tell them at least.

Rai knew other people from all the classes he takes however he doesn’t sit with them or hang around with them. So truthfully their really was no need to tell them anyway.

Kai and Rai were both going to go to ‘Lake Shire’ it was a three hour drive from where they were. Kai happened to have a holiday house their, ‘Lake Shire’ happened to be in the country side. It was also near some hot springs which would be really nice. Rai had looked up ‘Lake Shire’ on the internet. Their where pictures of it and the scenery looked amazing from the pictures. He couldn’t wait to get their, he knew that the view would be a whole lot better once they got their. Their was a paragraph saying why it was called Lake Shire and where the name came after.

It said that in 1614 a war had occurred right near the lake. Though at the time the lake was not their. Many lives where killed and it was a bloody war, they where fighting over land of course. Both the armies had a name each, one was called ‘Raishi’ and the other ‘Osari’. The war had gone on for many months until it had finally come to an end. The Osari’s had won but their victory was not a long one. After the day of their victory it started to rain, the warriors thought that the rain would soon diminish. The rain though kept pouring and pouring their was no end to it. Soon both their land and the once land which belonged to the Raishi’s was being flooded. All their food and crops where dying from all the rain. Many people had become ill from the wet and the cold. The Osari’s had thought that the gods where angry and that they where punishing them because of the war. Soon after six months of constant rain it had finally cleared up, the people soon realised that after all that rain a lake had been formed. It went on for miles, they took it as a sign that the gods where no longer furious at them. They all decided to call the lake after their god that they all worshipped. Who was named ‘Monashima Shire’ and since that day it had remained that name and always will.

It was finally Saturday and Rai and Kai where both packing their stuff they need for the weekend. They had woken up at 6:00am in the morning and would leave at 7:30am. Once they where both packed they got ready and left. They walked quietly down the hall with their bags hoping not to wake anyone. They reached the bottom and left the building, they both walked over to the parking lot where Kai’s car was. They put their stuff in the boot, got into the car and left the college behind.

Rai looked out the window and watched all the shops and people go by. He couldn’t believe it here he was sitting in the car with Kai and headed to the hot springs. He looked over at Kai and saw how focused he was. As the car belonged to him, he had decided to drive the car to Lake Shire. Rai didn’t mind he actually preferred to be the passenger more than the driver. He knew that Kai wouldn’t let him dive his car any way. “Would you like to listen to some music” Kai asked him. “Uh well only if you want to” Rai said “I don’t care, I thought you might want to listen to some as this is a three hour drive” Kai told him.

So Rai decided to turn the radio on, he tried to find a station which had some good music. Once he found one he sat back and started to tap his hand on his leg. Kai looked at Rai from the corner of his eye and saw a different side to Rai that he had never seen before. It looked as if he was actually happy.

They had been travelling for at least two hours now and decided to take a break. They where already in the country side and had stopped at a little café along the road. The café was rather nice, for being in the middle of no where. “Good morning sirs may I take your orders” the waitress asked them. “Um I will have a chicken burger with fries thanks” Rai told her “anything to drink” she then asked, “a coke would be great thanks”. “What would you like sir” she then asked Kai “a coffee will be fine” he told her. “Alright it wont be long” she then walked away leaving Rai and Kai alone.

“Kai aren’t you hungry” Rai asked him “no, I will eat something when we get to the house” he told Rai. “You know I’ve been wondering, how many cups of coffee do you drink Kai” he asked him. “I drink one when I feel like it, does that answer your question” he replied looking at Rai. “Here is your order” the waitress came up and put their food and drinks on the table. Once both Rai and Kai finished, they left the café and headed back to the car. They where finally back on the road and had about an hour to go until they reached their destination.

They had been driving for about ten minutes when Rai’s phone began to ring. “Hello….oh hey Tyson” he had remembered he had given his mobile number to Tyson and the others before the weekend. Then that way they could keep in touch when they couldn’t hang out together. “What you and Cole are going where……..that’s cool……..um no I’m driving to meet him……..yeah……..well not exactly, he lives in the country side so I will be staying with him for awhile……..yeah………okay well I will see you on Monday……..bye” Rai hung up. “What did he want” Kai asked him. “Uh nothing really, just ringing to say hi” Rai told him.

Rai had fallen asleep and woke up when he felt the car stop. He opened his eyes and looked out the car window. “You know you will get a better view if you get out of the car” Kai told him, leaning into the car to grab something from the back seat. Rai got out of the car and couldn’t believe the sight. It was more beautiful that the pictures on the internet, ‘Lake Shire’ was absolutely stunning. “It’s amazing” he said, he noticed that the house was right on the bank of the lake. “Come on dream boy come and help me with these bags” Kai told him. Rai walked back over to the car and grabbed his bag and headed to the house.

He had to walk up about five stairs to get to the front door, Kai unlocked it and they both walked inside. Rai had never seen anything like it the house was incredible and it felt so homey. “Rai, Rai earth to Rai” Kai was trying to bring him out of his day dream. “Huh oh sorry” Rai apologised to him for zooming out then. “So what do you want to do about bedrooms, you can either use one of the guests rooms or you can sleep with me, its your choice” he told Rai.

A blush came up on his cheeks when Kai offered if he wanted to sleep with him. He wasn’t sure what to chose, does a couple sleep in different rooms. This was their first official day together at being a couple. Is it best for him to sleep in a guest room or was it best to sleep with his new partner. “Hey Rai can you hurry up and choose” Kai told him, “if your to nervous to share you can just take one of the guests rooms it really doesn’t bother me” Kai said. “Is it okay if I take one of the guests rooms” Rai asked him. “Hey like I said it doesn’t bother me” Kai replied, really not disappointed that Rai wanted to sleep in a separate room.

Kai showed him to a room which was upstairs, it was a lot larger than the bedroom they shared back at college. This time he was able to sleep on a double bed which was great. “If you want anything just call out I will be in the third room on the left” he told Rai and walked out. Rai saw that their was a cupboard and a chest of draws. However he was only staying for two days their really wasn’t any reason to unpack his clothes. So he decided to leave them in his bag, he decided to have a look around the place.

He walked downstairs and went onto the pergola which over looked the lake. He went to the edge and the view was fantastic. “Not bad huh” he heard someone from behind him, Kai had walked up and stood beside Rai. “It’s beautiful I have never seen such a sight in my entire life” he replied. “My grandfather gave me this place” Kai told him, “your grandfather did so that means that this holiday house actually belongs to you” Rai said with a surprised face. “Yeap, I use to come up here before I started college, I came up here to get away from everything, my problems and my worries, you know its been two years since I’ve been here, since then I never thought about coming here again until I met you” he told Rai.

They both looked at each other “to tell you the truth if I hadn’t met you I would probably forget about this place, just like I have forgotten so many other things in my life” he said. Kai put his right hand up on Rai’s left cheek. “When I told you how I wasn’t gay that was the truth, I had never slept with a guy but then you came, when I had knocked into you that day near the elevator when you had arrived, for some reason something inside me clicked it was as if you had put some sort of spell on me, I haven’t told you this but since that day I could never get you out of my mind” he told Rai. Rai couldn’t believe what he was hearing, was their something wrong with Kai or what. “The only way I could talk to you was to tease you and call you names I had no choice if people saw me trying to hit on you they would think that their fabulist Kai Hiwatari was nothing but a fruit cake” he dropped his hand down and sighed.

Kai looked over the rail to face the beautiful sight of the lake and all its surroundings. “I really hated it having you on my mind I kept saying to myself that I’m not gay that I don’t like guys, that first time when I kissed you I didn’t know what I was thinking at the time, but that night when you and I slept together I deffiently knew what I was doing, I don’t know what lies ahead for us in the mean time, will this relationship work and can it, I can sometimes have my doubts around certain things and sorry to say, this is one of them, even if this does work I know that one day this will get out to the open, some might except it and some might not and when that time comes will I be able to except it myself” he said.

“Why are you saying this Kai” Kai looked at him and could tell that Rai seemed confused. “Are you telling me that this relationship wont last that this is a one time fling that’s between us, well, well I don’t believe that who cares what other people think I don’t and you shouldn’t either, we both agreed to this we both feel the same towards each other, I know I do and by what you just told me earlier I know you do to, don’t think about the negative think about the positive of course their will be ups and downs along the way but if we are both their for each other then nothing can hurt us, I didn’t agree to this relationship because we had one night together I agreed to this because, because I LOVE YOU KAI” he told him.

“No matter where you are or where you go you will not get away from me, if you think that even for a second this wont work then you are dead wrong, I might not be as calm and serious like you but I know that I can be strong and keep what we have forever, you can hide or you can die or do what ever but I wont let you go not now not ever” Kai could see how serious Rai was. He cupped Rai’s face in his hands and kissed him. Just that one kiss had so much passion in it, Rai knew that he had gotten through to Kai.

What happened between the two when they first met was the first step of beginning the love that they had both figured out at last.
