Vegeta limped down the hall towards his locker, wearing his sunglasses and his usual attire; jeans and a leather jacket with a T-shirt underneath. He avoided eye-contact with everyone and stared at the floor, trying not to gasp at every step he took. A big dark bruise was hidden underneath his light shirt and heavy jacket, however, it didn’t go unnoticed by him…or Kakarot. The wild haired teen stared at Vegeta with extreme worry and regret. ‘Why did I have to go and do that? I could’ve just let him go, but no I had to go after him. Why did I go after him? Why didn’t I…just let him leave? Maybe…if I left him alone, last night wouldn’t have happened.’ Vegeta’s hidden pained gaze caught Kakarot’s probing one, who suddenly turned away and got his things out of his locker and walked away. Vegeta watched the other leave and simply looked back at his locker to get his own things, when he heard a timid voice behind him.
“Vegeta?” He turned around at the surprisingly unsure tone, recognizing it immediately. “Listen, about…well, the last few months…”
Vegeta sneered. “I really don’t want to talk to you right now, Brolly.” He said in annoyance as he turned back to his locker and grabbed a textbook and a notebook then shoved them in his bag and slamming his locker shut.
Brolly’s guilty gaze became pained, the awful look adding to his bruised nose. “I know, but…can you at least hear me out?”
Vegeta growled before turning back to his bulky ex. “You have one minute.”
Brolly took a deep breath and let it out. “I know, okay? I know…that we’re over. I’ve just…been in denial about it ever since.”
“Then why do you keep acting like you own me? In denial or not, you could’ve at least had some self-control.” Vegeta cut in.
Brolly took a step closer. “Because I know you need someone…you need someone in your fucked up life because you don’t think you can handle it alone. So, I thought that maybe…if I acted like nothing had happened…things would…go back to the way they were.” He finished in uncertainty.
Vegeta sighed and leaned his back against his locker. “Maybe I do need someone in my fucked up life, but I know that it’s not you. You don’t exactly make it any better.”
Brolly’s eyes widened a bit. “Why not? Haven’t I been good to you? Haven’t I treated you like royalty? Given you all the love that you could possibly stand? How come it didn’t work out? What…did I do wrong?”
Vegeta’s gaze became a bit solemn at the desperate look in his ex’s eyes. “Nothing, Brolly. It just…wasn’t enough.” His features became more saddened as the harsh truth worked through the big teen’s broken heart. However, he didn’t want to wait for a response as he began to make his way past the teen and towards class. He didn’t get far though as a bulky arm lashed out and snaked around his thin waist, stopping him.
“You think I don’t notice, don’t you? When you wear those shades and that leather jacket to hide it all? You may have fooled everyone else, thinking that you don’t care…thinking you can wear or do whatever you want, but I know. I know what happens at home. That’s why you came to me…that’s why you needed me…and now that you don’t have me anymore, you’re looking for someone else…someone better.” Brolly said in a cold tone as Vegeta tensed in his hold. He leaned closer, whispering in his ear. “My offer still stands, you know. I can end it all…I can end your suffering. Even though you’re no longer mine, I’d still do it for you…because I still love you.”
Vegeta turned his head towards him then. “Brolly, you have any idea what you’re saying? He’s my father. He’s all I’ve got left and even though he may have a few bad habits, I just need to put up with them. After all, it’s necessary.” Even though it couldn’t be seen, a glazed look took place in Vegeta’s eyes as his memories went through his mind again.
Brolly lifted a hand to his chin to bring his face up and look at him. “Stop it. It wasn’t your fault. You need to stop blaming yourself. How do you expect things to get better if you don’t forgive yourself? You were only a chil-“
The bell interrupted him as its shrill noise signified that classes had started. The hall was practically empty, they were the only two late for class. Vegeta pulled back. “We have to go.” He whispered as he hurriedly made his way to his first class.
Brolly’s shoulders slumped when the lithe teen left his sight. His thoughts couldn’t help but go back to what his lovely ex said earlier. ‘Wasn’t enough? What more could he possibly have wanted? Why couldn’t he tell me? Maybe I could give him more? Yes, I could. If he’d give me another chance, I’d do anything for him.’

Vegeta quietly, but quickly shut the door as he entered class and went to his seat at the same speed. However, it didn’t stop the teacher from interrupting his lecture to point him out. “Vegeta, you’re late. You need a tardy slip from the office and a pretty good excuse. This is the fifth tardy this semester. One more and its detention. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if you have it already, considering the stunt you pulled yesterday at lunch.” He muttered the last sentence as Vegeta grumbled and got up to leave towards the office; not bothering to answer the prick.
He entered the office non-too-gracefully as the secretary sighed at his presence. “Now what do you need, Vegeta?” Apparently, he was a frequent visitor.
Vegeta sneered at the plump, overly dressed woman as he made his way over to her and leaned on the high desk. “I need a tardy slip.”
She sat up in fake interest. “I see. One more and you’ll have detention. Oh and that reminds me, the principal wants to see you.”
Vegeta rolled his eyes and growled in extreme irritation as he made his way to the principal’s office, just beyond the front office. ‘No one cares. Honestly, what’s the point anymore?’

An hour later, Vegeta returned to his first class grumbling to himself as he angrily made his way to his desk and gathered his things. The instructor turned from the board to him, half the class already had his attention. “Vegeta? Where are you going?”
Vegeta sneered. “To the principal’s.” He slung his bag over his shoulder as half the class ‘ooooed’ at his misfortune. “Oh, fuck all of you!” He said angrily and left.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he already has.” One student whispered to another as a few who heard laughed.
Kakarot heard as well and scowled. Just what did they have against him to make them treat him so badly? Was he really that bad of a person? Or was he a good person that had bad things happen to him? It seemed the latter was more believable than the first. He tried tuning out more insults towards the other as he turned his attention towards the front. “Alright, class! Settle down.” The instructor gained their attention once again as Kakarot returned his gaze towards the door. ‘What did the principal want with Vegeta that made him come back and get his things? Probably to punish him for yesterday. Just how bad is the punishment?’

“In school suspension is no picnic, Vegeta. Someone will constantly be with you, which means that you actually have to study and pay attention.” The principal went on as Vegeta fought against the urge to beat that pompous fool’s face in.
Vegeta slumped in his seat. “That’s fine. I’m behind in all my classes anyway.” He muttered.
The principal stared at him for a moment. “Yes, that’s part of the reason why I thought this was necessary. The other reason is it seems you need more discipline.”
Vegeta lifted his head slightly and glared through his dark shades. ‘If you only knew…’
The principal leaned forward on his desk. “There’s one thing that’s been bothering me. Why do you keep wearing those sunglasses and refuse to take them off during class? I recall giving you a few detentions because of that.”
Vegeta sneered and looked away. “None of your business.”
The man clenched his hands together. “It is when they affect your studying. Take them off.”
Vegeta looked back at him. “Bite me.”
The principal sighed and narrowed his eyes at the stubborn student. “Why do you insist on keeping them on? Is it because of how they look on you or do you like to be trouble?”
The lithe teen smirked. “Both.”
The principal sighed again as his hands clenched tighter. “I wonder what your father thinks of your behavior? Which reminds me, I need to give him a call sometime today and let him know of your troublesome antics.”
Vegeta tensed in his seat. “No! That’s not necessary!”
The man leaned back in his chair. “I’m afraid I have no choice. He needs to be aware of your attitude towards school and your studying. Maybe then he can do something about it.”
Vegeta stood suddenly then. “I said it’s not necessary! He’s…He’s working…he works late every day, so you can’t reach him.” He tried coming up with a good excuse for his outburst and for the man not to call his father.
The principal arranged a few things on his desk. “Well, in that case, I’ll have to send him a letter.”
Vegeta growled. “Damn it! Why even bother! He doesn’t even care!”
The man leaned forward again and narrowed his gaze. “If I’m not mistaken Vegeta, your father works at the town bar, doesn’t he?” Vegeta glared at the bastard again, hidden by his dark glasses, but the man noticed none the less. “From what I heard, he practically drinks himself into a coma every night to rid himself of the pain of losing your mother all those years ago.”
Vegeta stepped forward then. “Shut up! That’s none of your business!”
“Is that why you get in trouble all the time? Are you doing it for attention or do you not know how to deal with the situation at home?” The man kept probing, unaware of the danger in front of him.
No longer able to control his rage, he jumped forward, wrapping his hands around the man’s throat with all his strength. “I said shut the fuck up! You know nothing!”
The principal gasped at the sudden action and tried prying the boy’s hands off of him. The noises of their actions apparently were heard in the front office when the secretary came in, along with a few curious stares. “Oh, my goodness! Vegeta stop!” She rushed forward, trying to do what the principal was failing at. When she realized the boy’s strength was much stronger than hers, she called for backup. “Someone! Help!”
The curious stares turned into urgent ones as they rushed in to help as well. It took three boys and a teacher to pry him off of the almost unconscious principal. Vegeta struggled against them, determined to finish what he started. “You fucking prick! Stop acting like you know what the hell is going on ‘cause you don’t! You know absolutely nothing!” He struggled harder, now more determined to get free and leave. “Let go of me!” They dragged him from the office and into the front office to try and calm him down. In his struggles, his sunglasses flew off his face and clattered to the floor. The ones trying to restrain him noticed, but didn’t comment until he settled down.
“Vegeta! Calm down! There’s no reason to be so upset!” An instructor that came in to help tried to reason with him.
“No reason?! No reason?! I have all the reason to be upset! Everything upsets me! You people, your fucking rules, and this place! Give me a reason not to be upset!” A few more students came in from the hallway to see what the problem was. Brolly and Yamcha were among them and Kakarot peered in out of sight. The classes that were taking place nearby were disturbed by his yelling when their instructors decided to see what the problem was and came to help.
Brolly decided to butt in as he pushed his way past the forming crowd and to his former lover. “Vegeta! Vegeta! It’s okay! Everything’s alright now. It’s alright now.” He moved forward and embraced him in a tight grip, stilling the other’s movements, who let his tears form and fall.
Vegeta gripped his shirt in his distress and mumbled into his hard chest. “No. No it’s not. Nothing’s okay. Why can’t everyone just leave me alone? I just…wanna be left alone.”
Brolly sighed as he loosened his grip somewhat and stroked the smaller’s back. “No you don’t Vegeta. That’s why you’re such a wreck.” With those words said, Vegeta’s shoulders shook as he let the tears fall freely and gripped his ex tighter.
Kakarot’s heart tugged at the scene. He couldn’t help but feel somewhat responsible for the other’s anguish. He should’ve done something last night. He shouldn’t have made him leave, he should’ve explained his feelings better…he shouldn’t have stood there and watched as Vegeta was beaten by his father. He hated not doing anything when people were being hurt…he hated not doing anything when he let them continue to hurt…he needed to do something. He was already in the other’s life. He was making it worse not being a part of it. The only thing was, why did he want to be a part of it in the first place? That scent…the other’s scent was so intoxicating…addicting…it pulled him to him. Perhaps, he should ask his father about that.
Vegeta pulled back slightly as Brolly leaned down a bit and gently wiped away the tears from his bruised face. A few students and teachers gasped at the blue and black color around his eye and cheek. From their reactions, Vegeta noticed that he wasn’t wearing his sunglasses and quickly looked around for them then found them on the floor against the wall, they appeared to be okay. He grabbed them and quickly put them back on as the secretary came back from the principal’s office. “Is he alright?” One of the instructor’s asked.
The secretary nodded. “Yes, he appears to be okay. The nurse is looking at him now to see if he needs a doctor.” She turned to Vegeta who appeared to be under better control than before. “Vegeta, I recommend you see the counselor immediately.”
Vegeta sneered and was about to retort when Brolly interrupted him. “Vegeta, you need to get it out of your system. You can’t keep it bottled up anymore.”
Vegeta looked lost for a moment. “But-“
Brolly stroked his face lightly. “Something needs to be done. This can’t go on anymore. I know you’re at your limit and don’t worry. If anything goes wrong, you know I’m here for you, right?” He smiled softly.
Vegeta stared at his ex for a moment then nodded slightly. Brolly leaned down and kissed his temple before letting him go. Vegeta hesitantly stepped back as a few teachers came and began to escort him to the counselor’s office. On his way, he spotted a head of wild locks and couldn’t help but trail his eyes down and into intense pools of ebony. The look made his breath catch in his throat as he continued down the hall.

Oh my…chapter twelve and they’re still not together yet?! O.o Usually I have em together by chapter 6 or 7, but wow is this progressing slow or what? Hooray for character development! :D I must have it in my stories. Usually, I try to keep em in character, but it’s kinda hard to keep that up in an alternate universe so…bear with me. Also, I’ve never had ISS so, bear with me on that as well. I’m just going by what I’ve seen and heard from the other students that have had it. It’s probably not that accurate.
