Vegeta threw up again for what must’ve been the hundredth time that morning. He probably only got an hour of sleep, since he was too miserable to. He groaned again and lied back down. All that was coming out anymore was stomach acid, the liquor already left his system. He panted into the fluffy cool pillow as he stared at the wall tiredly, waiting for sleep. However, it didn’t seem to come when the pain kept coming as did his groans. Kakarot finally decided to come in and check on him, the other’s groans stirring him from sleep. “Hey, Vegeta. How are you doing?” He asked cautiously as he came a little closer.
Vegeta let out a breath. He felt like he was dying. “Shitty. Do you have anything that can make it go away?”
Kakarot thought for a moment. “Well, you’re not sick, you just drank too much.” He looked to the practically full bucket and grimaced. “And it looks like its pretty much out of your system. I hear food makes it better.” He smiled, but then frowned when Vegeta gagged at the mention of food. “Well, perhaps later then. Let me know when you get hungry. In the meantime, try and get some rest. It looks like the worst is over.” Vegeta whimpered in understanding as Kakarot left the room.
When the day was half or mostly over, Vegeta’s appetite seemed to make itself known and decided to get up. He carefully sat up, his back and head aching from staying in bed all day and throwing up all night. He decided to leave his shirt off and proceeded towards the bathroom down the hall. Just as he was washing his face, he looked in the mirror and noticed a dark circle on his neck. He stared at it for a moment then leaned forward to get a closer look. As soon as he did so, he noticed there was not only one, but three. He rubbed a finger along them, wondering if they were actually hickey’s or something else. ‘What the hell? Who did that?!’ His mind reeled as he tried to remember what happened last night. The only thing he recalled was grabbing whatever alcohol he could and blending in with the crowd. Also, he vaguely remembered Kakarot bringing him here last night, but was unsure why. ‘I thought the guy was avoiding me? Why does he keep coming to my rescue, only to push me away again? Does he enjoy hurting me?’ He growled at his thoughts. ‘Well then. Maybe I should ask him myself.’
With that, he left the room and proceeded towards the living room, where he could see a head of unruly hair sitting on the couch and in front of a roaring fire. “Kakarot, what the hell-“ As soon as he spoke, the wild spikes turned and a face looked his way. “Oh…I’m sorry. I thought you were Kakarot.” He blushed fiercely when he clearly saw an older version of the younger man and quickly realized it was his father.
Bardock smirked and stood. “It’s alright. People confuse us all the time. I’m glad to see you’re doing better.”
Vegeta nodded. “Thank you. Um, do you know where Kakarot is? Last night is kind of a blur and I was wondering if he could tell me what happened.”
“Vegeta? You’re up!” A happy voice brought both of their attention to the hall that led to the kitchen. He came over as his features turned concern. “How are you feeling? Are you hungry at all? You slept the whole day.”
‘Something seems…different about him today. He’s more…concerned? Protective? Nice? It’s…odd. Reminds me of the first night I stayed here.’ He smiled in reassurance. “I’m better and I was actually feeling a bit hungry.”
“Oh, good! I was just making dinner! Come on, it’s almost ready!” Kakarot said excitedly as he grabbed Vegeta’s hand and led him to the kitchen. He noticed Bardock was looking at them with a calm gaze and a smile. ‘What’s that about?’ When they entered, a wonderful smell greeted them. It fueled Vegeta’s hunger as they sat down at the isle. He looked towards the oven and microwave to see if anything was cooking and noticed a casserole baking in the oven.
Vegeta brought himself back to his thoughts before and remembered what he needed to talk to Kakarot about. He turned to the lovely teen sitting beside him, who still held his hand. “Kakarot, what happened last night? Did we…?” He trailed off, hoping the other could piece together what he was going to say. He hoped it was Kakarot that had marked him.
It took a moment for Kakarot to catch up to what he was saying and shook his head, his expression falling a bit. “No.”
That was Vegeta’s cue to panic. “Then…what happened?”
Kakarot smiled softly. “Don’t worry about it. Nothing-“ He stopped when he saw the marks on the other’s neck and suddenly had the urge to go and kill the bastard that touched him.
Vegeta held his hand tighter. “Please, Kakarot. I have to know. Who was with me?” He silently prayed that it wasn’t Brolly.
Kakarot looked away and hesitated in his answer. “Yamcha.”
Vegeta pulled back in surprise. “No…” He whispered in shock. Now he was wishing it was Brolly.
Kakarot leaned forward then; urgency in his voice. “Vegeta, it’s okay. That’s the worst he did to you. I promise you he did nothing more.”
“H-How do you know that?” He felt a little relieved when he was told that, but was still unsure in what all happened.
“Because…I stopped him.” He hesitated, wondering if this was good or bad.
“You?” Vegeta asked, a bit surprised, but not really. After all, this wasn’t the first time his crush had saved him.
Kakarot nodded. “Yes. I…I saw you…go with him. At first, I was unsure…because it looked like you were willing…but then…I…I followed and…” He looked away again, unsure of how the other will react. After a moment, he tried thinking up of words to back up his actions. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t help it. I came because you told me too. Even though we weren’t really talking…I promised you…that I would. Then, when I saw you…with him, I couldn’t help but…” He trailed off then, thinking that explaining himself was futile.
Vegeta didn’t know what to say, he was touched. His heart swelled as a new emotion pumped within it. His expression softened as he held Kakarot’s hand in a loving gesture. ‘He still came. Even after what happened, he still came because he promised he’d dance with me...and he saved me from Yamcha when he was looking for me. He was…worried about me. He saved me again…’ With these thoughts, Vegeta didn’t know how to feel. No one’s ever cared about him like that before. Brolly may have, but the emotion wasn’t strong enough or taken as seriously. Before he knew it, tears welled up and fell down his cheeks as a few sobs escaped him. He leaned forward towards Kakarot, wanting to be held and comforted by the other.
Unsure, Kakarot slowly embraced the other when he pressed himself against him and cried. Thinking it’s the same reaction from when he first rescued him, he rubbed Vegeta’s back and ran his fingers through upswept locks. This caused Vegeta to cry harder and grip his shirt. Worry was starting to etch into his features, but seemed to take a different direction when Vegeta whined/whimpered his name. There seemed to be adoration behind it and Kakarot couldn’t help but feel the emotion, which almost brought tears to his eyes as well. He gripped him tighter and nuzzled against his temple. This seemed to have comforted him a little more as the sobs quieted somewhat and stopped not long after. After a few minutes of just holding each other, Vegeta managed to think of what to say. “Did you dance with me?” He croaked softly.
Kakarot smiled softly at the question. “Of course. Although, it was a bit awkward, since it wasn’t slow dancing. Not to mention, you were quite out of it.” He answered with some amusement.
Vegeta pulled back and blushed. “Oh, no. I hope I didn’t do anything embarrassing.”
Kakarot chuckled. “Well, you didn’t throw up on me. So you can cross that off. However, that doesn’t mean that you didn’t throw up on someone.” He decided to leave it at that, just to see the other’s reaction.
Vegeta’s eyes became wide. “Who did I throw up on?!”
“Yamcha.” He laughed then. “His reaction was quite humorous, but he didn’t find it too funny.”
Vegeta calmed then and chuckled at his crush’s reaction. Their merry moment was interrupted by a ding coming from the oven, signaling that the casserole was done.
“Oh, hold on a minute.” Kakarot pulled on an oven mitt on his way and quickly opened it and carefully took out the casserole and set it on the stove. The bubbling and sizzling noises it made carried over to where Vegeta was sitting. His stomach growled then, at the sight and smell of the delicious food.
“What is it?” Vegeta asked as he watched him spoon some onto a couple plates and brought them over.
“Tater Tot Casserole.” (Ugh, tater tot looks like it should be one word, but…oh well >.> tatortot…tatertot…stupid dictionary…either way it’s a word). Kakarot answered as he sat down and started digging in after blowing on it.
Vegeta looked at it for a moment, then picked up a fork and picked at it. “What’s in it?”
Kakarot looked at him as if he lost his mind. “You’ve never…had…Tater Tot Casserole before?” He made the pauses in his surprise. Vegeta looked at him for a moment and shook his head. Kakarot swallowed what was in his mouth (lol). “Well, it has tater tots, obviously, green beans, hamburger, cheese, some seasoning…oh and mushroom soup.”
Vegeta grimaced at the last ingredient. “I’m not a fan of mushrooms.”
Kakarot smiled. “Don’t worry. You can barely taste ‘em.” He shoved another spoonful in his mouth while Vegeta contemplated taking a bite out of his. “Aw, come on. Just try it. You’ll never know if you like it unless you do. Besides, you need to get something in your stomach and, if you decide you don’t like it, I can make you something else.”
Vegeta sighed in defeat at the other’s insistence and the thought of making Kakarot cooking something else for him made him all the more brave. Seeing no mushrooms on his plate anyway, at least not to the naked eye, he scooped up a tot and a green bean along with some of the gravy like soup and hamburger then blew on it a little before putting it in his mouth (lol). Kakarot watched in suspense as Vegeta chewed it and swallowed. He then turned to him and smiled brightly. “It’s delicious.”
The answer looked as if it made his day. “Oh, I knew it! I’m so glad you like it!”
And seeing that smile appeared to make Vegeta’s day. “You’re a good cook.”
Kakarot gushed a bit. “Thank you.”
Once Kakarot finished off a few more plates and Vegeta ate half of his plate to make sure he kept it down, Vegeta sighed when his thoughts returned to their previous conversation. “I don’t think I should go to school Monday.” He rested his arm on the isle and rested his cheek on his hand as he looked out the window in thought.
Kakarot looked at him for a moment, before it clicked. “Well, at least you know what’s true. After all, you seem to be the kind that doesn’t care what others think.”
‘I care what ‘you’ think.’ “You’re right. What should I care what anyone thinks about me? They’re all idiots. They just want something to gossip about for a while then they’ll get tired of it and move on.” He stretched in his seat to get rid of his worries.
Kakarot smiled. “Right.” A comfortable silence ensued for a while. Vegeta started to dose in his seat, his head nodding every now and then. Kakarot stood then and touched his arm. “Vegeta. You should go get some more rest.”
Vegeta’s eyes were closed, but sighed; signifying that he was barely awake. “I am.”
Kakarot chuckled lightly. “I mean, you should lay in bed where it’s more comfortable and sleep.”
Vegeta looked at the gorgeous teen with tired eyes and a sleepy smile. “Will you…stay with me?” He asked a bit shyly. He didn’t know why, but he suddenly didn’t want to be away from the other. Perhaps the bond that they shared was growing.
Kakarot smiled that beautiful smile in return. “Sure.”
Vegeta’s heart pounded harder in his chest and suddenly became very nervous. “O-Okay.”
Kakarot helped him stand, like the proper gentleman he is, and lead him back to his bedroom. As Vegeta got settled into the comfy bed, Kakarot couldn’t help but eye the light bruises that still adorned his face and ribs. His hands gripped the blankets tighter as he pulled them over the small form and tucked him in. He grabbed a chair and pulled it up next to the bed and rested his upper body on the mattress. Once again, his hands seem to move on their own accord as one lightly stroked the fading bruise on the other’s cheek and next to his eye. Vegeta’s smile faded when that spot on his face was touched. His expression became sad as he held that hot hand to his cheek, but said nothing. Neither said a word, a form of understanding coming between them as Vegeta gradually found sleep.

Since I only had one hangover, I pretty much just used from what I’ve experienced and put it in the story. Except the part where he doesn’t remember anything, ‘cuz I do. Probably ‘cuz I only did it once, however, I’ve been tipsy several times. So, don’t think me ‘square’ or…anything like that. >.> Hope the lol’s weren’t too annoying and yes, they were necessary. :p Until next time....
