WITHOUT YOU
Part 2
************************************
Kai was in his room after supper,
lying on his bed and staring at the ceiling.
Trying to gather his thoughts and make some coherence of them, he pulled
out Dranzer, studying the Phoenix.
He’d thought he heard a door opening
and closing earlier, but figured it was one of the others. He’d gone down for dinner but had left right
after, leaving everyone to do…whatever it was they were going to do. His team had watched him go, worry on all of
their faces.
Now he was alone in his room, trying
to decide just what the heck he was supposed to do about himself and
Tyson. The more he thought about it,
the more he wanted the midnight blue haired blader at his side – always.
Dear God, I’ve fallen in love
with him! Kinomiya Tyson! How can that be possible? And Tyson… Kai swallowed, smiling
slightly. I already know he likes
me. Kai stood up and straightened
his clothes, having come to a decision about what to do next.
I’ll talk to him. We’ll work this out, and I’ll see that
gorgeous smile again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Max carried the tray up to Tyson’s
room and carefully balanced it while he knocked on the solid oak door.
“Tyson? I’ve got your snack here.”
Max turned the doorknob, and, finding it unlocked, pushed the door open
and carried the tray inside.
He set it on a small coffee table
and looked around. “Tyson?”
But his friend wasn’t there.
Frowning, he checked the bathroom,
beginning to panic just a little when he couldn’t find the Dragon.
“Okay, calm down, Max. He’s probably just gone exploring or
something. Yeah. I’ll just go down and see if the others have
seen him.” Max hurried downstairs and
went to the main parlor, where all the teams had gathered for the evening.
Steven was staring at one huge
window, looking out at the weather.
“Wow, guys. It’s really coming
down out there.”
“Hey!” Max spoke up loudly, getting everyone’s attention. “Has anyone seen Tyson?”
The group exchanged looks and
frowns. “Nope. He hasn’t come in here.” Mariah told him.
“What’s wrong Max?” Joseph asked, noticing the blonde’s
agitation. Hilary got up and took his
hand.
“Max?”
“I took Tyson his snack and he
wasn’t in his room. I don’t know…he
seemed so upset earlier. He’s probably
just exploring the castle, but…”
“We’ll just have to look for him,
won’t we?” Ian suggested.
“Sure!” Kane stood and gestured to the others.
Johnny went to a large desk and
opened it. “Simple enough. We’ll just check the security. If he left his room, the cameras in the all would
have seen him.” There was a computer in
the desk and he used it to access his security system.
“Yep. There he goes.” Everyone
crowded around the screen to watch.
Johnny paused it and squinted at the screen. “Is that his blade and launcher in his hand?”
Rei nodded. “Yes.
I’d recognize his blade anywhere.”
Kenny adjusted his glasses. “Can you figure out where he’s going?”
Johnny nodded. “Sure.
Let me see here.” He went
through a few different cameras and finally spotted Tyson as he was putting on
his winter boots. They watched as he
opened the front door, letting snow blow inside, and walk out into the night –
into the blizzard.
“What the hell is he doing?” Rei exclaimed, staring at the screen. “It’s freezing out and it’s a blizzard! Why’d he go out there?”
Kenny took a deep breath and let it
out slowly. “He went to blade.” He said, simply.
Everyone looked at him. “Say what?!” They all chorused.
“It’s what he does when he needs to
think, or when he’s upset, or…well, you get the picture.” Kenny explained. “It’s his life.”
Johnny turned off the computer and
got up. “I’ll have the staff search the
grounds. He probably didn’t go far and
we’ll get him inside before he catches a cold or something.” He went off to do that.
When he came back, he joined the
others in waiting to hear if someone had found Tyson or not. Tala watched everyone, noting that Tyson’s
teammates and Hilary were acting more anxious about things than anyone else,
and something told him it was more than just a concern about a team
member. Something was wrong and they
weren’t telling the rest of them the whole story.
The butler came in after about half
an hour and whispered something to Johnny, who nodded, thanked the man, and
stood, looking rather grim. “The search
of the grounds is done. No one can find
him or any sign of him. It’s impossible
to find tracks or anything in this weather.”
“Well, we have to find him!” Emily said.
“If he’s out in that blizzard, he could get very sick, or hurt, or
lost…”
There was a murmur of
agreement. Ozuma looked extremely upset
with the whole situation. He was one of
very few people who truly understood Tyson, and he know that wherever Tyson
went, Dragoon went also. Dragoon would
protect his human partner as best he could for as long as he could. But even the great dragon had limits, and
this blizzard would push those limits.
Tala laid a hand on Max’s shoulder
and spoke up after several plans and strategies had been tossed around.
“Listen up, people. I am as concerned for Tyson as any of
you. But I am not letting any of you go
outside in that.” He pointed at
a window. “None of you have the skills,
or the fortitude, to survive a storm like that. I do. I will go
and find him, and bring him back.”
Bryan shook his head. “No, Tala.
You can’t go out there…especially not alone. You may have lived in conditions such as these all your life,
trained in similar conditions, but even you can’t survive long in them. I would never forgive myself if something
happened to you that I could have prevented.
Tala scowled at his friend. “Gee, Bry, could you have any less
confidence in me?”
Max squeezed Hilary’s hand and stood
up. “Thanks, Tala. But the final decision doesn’t rest with
us.” He went for the door. “I’m going to tell Kai. He’ll decide.” Max was gone before anyone could say anything else.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kai walked to the door and swung it
open to find Max there, his fist raised as if he’d been about to knock. He also looked pale, worried, and…scared.
“What’s the matter with you?” He asked, frowning slightly.
“We can’t find Tyson!” Max blurted out. He quickly told Kai everything, not noticing that the Phoenix’s
expression shifted between shock, anger, confusion, worry, and fear. “What do we do, Kai?”
Without a word, Kai turned around
and went back into his room, pulling on his warm winter coat and his gloves,
tucking his launcher and blade in his pocket.
He picked up his scarf and wrapped it around his neck. Then he stalked past Max, a cold feeling of
dread settling in his stomach, and went down to the others. Max hurried after him, knowing better than
to ask any questions and perfectly willing to do whatever Kai told him to do.
As they entered the room,
conversation died instantly and all eyes turned to Kai.
“I’m going after Tyson.” He stated.
Though his voice sounded as he’d intended – cold, commanding, and
unarguable – inside he was dying a little at a time, knowing that every second
he wasted here, Tyson was in danger of freezing to death.
“What? Kai you can’t! The snow…”
Lee protested.
“I’ll be fine. This is my fault, my problem. I will fix it.”
“Your fault? What are you talking about?” Salima questioned.
Kai gave her a glare that clearly
said, “None of your business, sister.”
However, when his teammates looked at him with knowing gazes, he
answered reluctantly, “We had a…fight.
I will find him and we will work it out.” He walked up to Johnny and planted his feet,
arms crossed over his chest. Johnny
glowered at him and met his gaze unflinchingly.
“What?” He snapped.
“We don’t like each other,
MacGregor, and that’ll never change in a billion years. Normally, I’d rather kill you than ask for a
favor, but under the circumstances…”
Johnny blinked at him in
surprise. “A favor? Huh…ask and I’ll see if I feel like granting
you a favor, Hiwatari.” He
sneered, and got a slap upside the head from Robert for his attitude. “Ow!
Damn it, Robert!”
The older Majestic and team captain
ignored him. “Whatever you need, Kai…”
Kai inclined his head in
thanks. “Supplies and an emergency kit,
a compass, a map…anything else I might need when I find Tyson. But there’s one more thing.” He looked at Johnny as he asked, “Is there
somewhere on your lands where I can take Tyson and we can be alone to work
things out?” Kai narrowed his
eyes. “You’d be compensated of course.”
Johnny scowled, vaguely
insulted. “Don’t bother, Hiwatari. Keep your money. I don’t want, nor need it.
And yes, there is.” He dug out a
map from the desk and spread it out on a table. “Here’s the manor. About
4 Km from here is a hunting lodge.
There’s no one there this time of year, but it’s kept clean and fully
stocked, just in case.” He pulled out a
key from the desk and tossed it to Kai.
“Feel free to use that, Hiwatari.
And when the weather clears, do your team a favor and use the phone to
call and let them know you and Tyson are okay.”
Kai looked at the key then up at
Johnny. “Thank you.” He said grudgingly, but sincerely.
Johnny waved that away and went to
get everything else Kai had requested.
While he waited, he noticed that two
team captains had disappeared.
Shrugging, he took the backpack Johnny brought him and slung it over his
shoulder, pulling on his boots quickly.
Kai stood and blinked at Ozuma and
Tala, who were suddenly standing there fully dressed for the weather and with
launchers and blades in hand. “And just
what do you two think you’re doing?”
“We’re going with you.” Tala pulled on his gloves, meeting Kai’s
gaze with ice blue eyes. “You’re good,
Kai, but it’s been a while since you’ve faced conditions like this. You need me.”
“I’m going because Tyson is in
trouble and that means Dragoon is in danger too. I have to make sure they’ll be okay, myself.” Ozuma added.
Kai scowled darkly, but since he
could hardly forbid them from coming along, he just muttered something under
his breath and walked out the door, taking out his launcher and blade and
preparing to launch Dranzer.
“How do you propose we find
him?” Tala inquired, curiously, watching
Kai.
Not answering, Kai called Dranzer
from his blade as it spun in place on the top step. “Dranzer!”
The great Phoenix rose and burned
brightly in the night, the heat the firebird generated melting the blowing snow
before it could get anywhere near him.
Kai himself stood amidst the icy winds and driving snow, completely
untouched by the white-stuff.
Tala and Ozuma stared in awe. They’d had no idea that Kai could control
fire this way.
“Dranzer, old friend…I need your
help. Can you sense Dragoon out there
somewhere?” Kai asked his
bit-beast. The Phoenix seemed to think,
looking around, then looking down at Kai and nodding once. “Great!
Can you lead us to him? Dragoon
and Tyson might be in trouble.”
Dranzer nodded again, then squawked
and flew off, Kai’s blade right behind him.
Kai didn’t wait for Ozuma or Tala.
He just started running.
Everyone else – the Majestics,
All-Stars, White Tigers, Saint Shields, Demolition Boys, Kane and his team, and
the remaining Bladebreakers plus Hilary watched the three captains disappear
into the storm.
“Be safe, guys. Find Tyson and be safe.” Rei whispered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kai followed Dranzer with blind
trust – and Tala and Ozuma followed him, just the same. After nearly an hour of flat out running
(which was quite difficult considering the size of the snow drifts) the great
Phoenix stopped, circling a spot then settling down to wait for Kai.
Kai barely stopped in time to keep
from tripping over Tyson’s prone form.
He dropped to his knees in the snow and brushed Tyson off, checking him
over for injuries.
Tala came up beside him, Ozuma on
the other side, both breathing hard.
“Is he injured?” Tala asked.
“No. But if we don’t get him warm, he’ll die.” Kai pushed back the emotions that came with
that unthinkable possibility. He
shrugged off the backpack and took out a warm blanket, wrapping Tyson carefully
in it and picking the Dragon up in his arms.
Ozuma found Tyson’s blade in the
snow and grabbed it, following Kai and Tala as they headed for the hunting
lodge. Dranzer flew overhead,
sheltering them all from the snow and wind.
It took nearly another two hours,
but they finally reached the lodge. Kai
carried Tyson inside and Tala hauled in firewood, getting a fire prepared in
the great stone fireplace in the sitting room.
Ozuma went to the phone and used it to call the manor and let everyone
know they were safe.
“Damn it!” Tala cursed the lighter he was using to try and light the fire
he’d set. “I think it’s dead.”
“Don’t bother, Tala.” Kai was stripping off Tyson’s wet
clothes. He didn’t even look up, nor
stop in his task, but the redhead suddenly felt a blast of intense heat and the
logs in the fireplace suddenly burst into flame.
“Ah!” Tala jumped back to avoid getting singed by the sudden
inferno. “Shit! Next time warn me, Kai!”
“Sorry.” Kai’s apology was automatic.
He tossed Tyson’s clothes aside into a wet pile, leaving him only in his
boxers and again bundled the unconscious teen up with the blanket, laying him
before the fire. “Watch him for a
minute, would you?” Kai got up and
began removing his outer winter gear, hanging that and Tyson’s clothes up to dry.
Ozuma came back and said quietly, “I
talked to Robert. He said if we’re coming
back tonight, we’d better go now. The
news is saying the storm’s getting worse.”
Tala nodded. “Okay.”
He glanced up at Kai when he came back over and pulled the Dragon into
his arms. “We have to go now, Kai,
while we still can. You’ll be okay here?”
“Yes. I’ll call if anything happens or Tyson gets too sick for me to
handle.”
“Alright.” Tala stood, heading for the door. “Take care, Kai.”
“Whatever is going on between you,”
Ozuma watched Kai pull out Tyson’s hair band and comb out his hair with his
fingers. “I hope you work it out. Good luck, Kai.”
With that, they were gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kai held the violently shivering
teen for sometime in front of the fire, softly stroking his hair as it dried
and keeping a close eye on Tyson’s breathing, wary of any sigh of pneumonia or
hypothermia.
When his shivering decreased
significantly, but didn’t cease, Kai laid him on the floor for a moment and
stripped off the rest of his clothes, searching quickly until he found a soft,
down comforter. He went back to Tyson,
sat back down in front of the crackling fire, and pulled Tyson into his lap,
curling around him to share his body heat.
Then he wrapped the comforter around both of them and held the Dragon
close.
Kai didn’t know how long they sat
there, but the heat and peacefulness lulled him into a light sleep. Eventually Tyson stopped shivering, his
breathing evening out into regular breathing.
He stirred, but didn’t wake up.
Kai smiled softly when the sleeping blader in his arms snuggled in
further, wrapping his own arms around Kai’s waist and letting out a soft
sigh. Kai brushed a small kiss over
Tyson’s brow and stood, picking him up and placing him on the sofa, tucking the
comforter around him like a child.
“There, my Dragon. You’ll be more comfortable here while I do a
couple things.” Kai smoothed away the
hair that insisted on flopping in Tyson’s face and went to the washroom, using
the facilities and washing his face to get rid of the smeared blue shark fins.
Feeling somewhat human again, Kai
made a pot of tea and took two steamy mugs into the sitting room, one for
himself, and one for Tyson should he wake up.
He finished his tea, threw another
couple of logs onto the fire and sat on the floor next to the couch, wrapping
himself in another blanket.
The Phoenix watched over Tyson as
long as he could stay awake for. But he
was exhausted and soon dropped off to sleep, head pillowed on his arms resting
on the seat cushion at Tyson’s waist.
His last thought was a prayer. Please, God, let him be okay. I don’t want to loose him before I get to
tell him how I feel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Things were a little hazy for
Tyson. He remembered going out into the
snowstorm and feeling cold – very, very cold.
Then things were blank until, suddenly, there was warmth and something
soft against his skin – a blanket? He
didn’t know. It was all fuzzy. He could remember hearing voices, all
familiar, but couldn’t remember what they had said or whom the voices belonged
to. And shivering. He remembered that quite well. Shivering so badly and then…
Heat. Distantly he registered someone’s strong
arms embracing him and he was engulfed in pure heat. It was soothing, peaceful, and made the shivering stop. He snuggled into the source of that wondrous
warmth, grateful, and his mind shut down, allowing Tyson to drift into a deep
sleep.
When he came to, he pried his eyes
open groggily, since his eyelids felt as if there were lead weights trying to
weigh them down. He blinked a few times
to bring everything into focus and stared into the fireplace, where a fire was
still burning brightly. He fought back
the comforter he was covered with and managed to sit up a little glancing
around in confusion.
“Where am I? And how did I…” He stopped, staring down at
the sleeping duel haired teen that was still curled up beside him on the
sofa. Tyson sucked in a breath and felt
a pang in his chest. Seeing Kai made
him remember everything that had happened and why he’d gone out in that
blizzard in the first place. “Oh Gods…”
He felt the tears well up again and spill over.
He must have made some movement or
something because Kai stirred, lifting his head and blinking away the
sleepiness in his eyes. He looked up at
Tyson and his eyes went wide with surprise, relief, and a great deal of
concern.
Tyson couldn’t believe it. He’s worried about me? Why?
“Tyson!” Kai sat up and smiled at him, pulling himself up onto the couch
and sitting next to the confused Dragon.
“You’re awake! Oh Gods…” Kai
abruptly grabbed him and drew him into a huge embrace, burying his face in
Tyson’s long, loose hair.
Startled, Tyson’s arms came up
automatically to enfold Kai. He felt
the Phoenix shudder and suddenly there was something wet dripping on his
shoulder. Kai was crying.
Now Tyson was really confused and
beginning to worry. What could have
happened that it would make Kai cry? It never even occurred to him that it was because of him. “Kai?
What…?”
“Gods! Tyson…I was so worried about you!” Kai pulled back, tears streaming down his face and stared into
Tyson’s midnight blue eyes. “You scared
the hell out of me! Don’t ever do that
again!”
Tyson gaped at him. He couldn’t help it! Here was his cold, emotionless team captain,
sans face paint, crying and worried about him. “I don’t…understand.” Tyson whispered, shaking his head in
confusion. “Yesterday…you didn’t…I
mean…” He didn’t even notice his own tears as they fell and splashed Kai’s
hands. “You hate me! Why do you…”
“I don’t!” Kai cried, startled. He
hadn’t believed Tyson truly thought that.
“Oh Gods, baby, no! I
don’t! Yesterday…on the hill…you never
gave me a chance to say anything! I was
so startled. I only figured out how I
felt just yesterday…I…I was coming to talk to you last night when Max came and
told me you were missing!” Kai rubbed
away Tyson’s tears with his thumbs, even though more just poured in an endless
stream. “Tyson, I freaked! I went looking for you and Tala and Ozuma
insisted on coming with me. We found
you getting buried under a snowdrift and brought you here. You were frozen like a Popsicle!”
Tyson stared at him through his
tears, his vision watery. “You…don’t
hate me?” He asked, timidly. Kai shook his head emphatically.
“NO!” Kai grabbed his hands and brought them to his lips. “I’m so sorry for making you think
that! I’m sorry…”
“Shh…” Tyson withdrew his hands from
Kai’s and threw his arms around Kai’s neck, clinging and crying silently. “It’s okay.”
“Oh baby…” Kai held him tightly
against his chest, nuzzling his neck and brushing his lips over Tyson’s ear as
he spoke. “I thought I lost you,
Tyson. I thought Id never get to tell
you how I feel…what you mean to me.
Will you listen to me now?” He
felt the smaller teen nod against his shoulder, refusing to let go of Kai.
“I thought you hated me. I thought you were disgusted with me or
something.” Tyson whispered hoarsely,
shivering in Kai’s arms.
“No. I’m not. I don’t. Tyson, I love you!” Kai pulled away and cupped Tyson’s face in
his hands. “Do you hear me? I love you, Kinomiya. My life has been cold and empty without you
in it. When you’re with me, I can’t
help but smile and I feel so…happy.” He
chuckled softly. “That’s saying a
lot. I’m not a ‘happy’ person.”
Tyson giggled a little and his hands
came up to rest on Kai’s wrists. “No,
you’re not. But that’s okay. I love you just the way you are.” He looked into glittering crimson eyes and
grew quite serious. “Kai…I love you so
much. Beyblading is my life. You know that better than anyone, I
think. But you have to know…I need to
tell you…I’ll always be a blader but all I ever really wanted was to be yours. I wanted you to be that important to
me.” He felt Kai tremble and Tyson
nodded. Kai understood what he was
trying to say. “Last night, out in that
blizzard, I was willing to die because my life meant nothing to me without
you. Blading wasn’t enough anymore.”
Kai sucked in a breath and bent down
just a little, capturing Tyson’s mouth in a desperate kiss and putting all the
love he had for the Dragon into it.
Tyson whimpered and kissed back, sliding his fingers into Kai’s hair and
letting him inside when Kai ran his tongue over his bottom lip, a silent plea
for entrance. He chased Kai’s tongue
with his own, making husky little sounds in his throat as Kai plundered his
mouth and made sure he explored every moist inch of it. Tyson nearly wept with the pleasure and the
love he could feel in that kiss. It was
exactly what he’d wanted so much yesterday and had believed he’d never have
from Kai.
They broke apart slowly, continuing
to give each other small, lingering kisses until they just sat there in each
other’s arms, foreheads resting against one another and hands gently running
over each other in soft caresses. They
were both breathing heavily and their pulses were racing.
A loud growling broke through the
silence and Tyson turned pink. Kai
blinked at him, astonished, then let out a delighted laugh.
“Hungry?” He asked, laughing at Tyson’s embarrassed expression and his tiny
nod.
“I didn’t eat much yesterday.”
“I know.” Kai got up and went to the kitchen. “I’ll make something.”
Tyson got up off the couch,
stretching out the kinks in his muscles and walking around a little. When he shivered a little, he went back to
the fireplace and wrapped himself up in the comforter again, sitting on the
floor and staring at the flames while he waited for Kai.
Soon Kai returned carrying a tray
with two steamy mugs of tea and two bowls of soup. He set it down next to Tyson on the coffee table and sat
cross-legged. “Soup should make you
feel better, love.” He angled his head
at the Dragon when he just stared at him.
“What?”
“I just realized you’re practically
naked.” Tyson turned an interesting
shade of red. “Not that I mind, but…wow,
Kai.”
To his surprise, Kai blushed and
lowered his gaze. “I can put my clothes
on if you want.”
Tyson shook his head. “No!
Don’t! It’s just that I can’t
stop looking at you…”
Kai looked up at that and gave him a
slow grin. “Well you’re not exactly
dressed either, my Dragon.” He got up
and grabbed the blanket he’d had earlier, wrapping it around himself and
sitting back down. “Better?”
“Hmm mmm…” Tyson tore his eyes away from
Kai’s well-muscled arms and picked up one bowl of soup, digging in with his
customary gusto. Kai watched him for a
moment, then picked up his own bowl and ate, too.
When they’d finished, Tyson helped
Kai clean up in the kitchen. After
that, Kai grabbed the cordless phone and handed it to Tyson.
“Why don’t you phone Max, love? He was really worried about you and I think
he’d feel a lot better if he knows you’re okay.”
Tyson took the receiver and
dialed. “What about you?”
“I’m going to shower. You can, too, when I’m done and you’re off
the phone.” Kai kissed him on the cheek
and disappeared down the short hallway to the bedrooms and bathroom.
“Hello?” A voice in his ear reminded him he was on the phone.
“Hi, Johnny! It’s Tyson.”
“Tyson! Hey, kid! You’re
alright?”
He smiled at the worried tone in
Johnny’s voice. “I’m fine, dude. Hey, can I talk to Max or Rei or Kenny? Kai said they were really worried.”
“We all were!” Johnny’s temper flared and Tyson winced,
holding the phone away from his ear.
“Damn it Kinomiya! What were you
thinking?! You could have frozen to
death! Or fallen off a cliff! Or…” There was a rustling noise and suddenly
Hilary’s voice blasted out over the line.
“You jerk! You had us worried sick! What the hell were you doing out in that
snowstorm?! Did you want to catch
pneumonia?”
Tyson scowled at the phone as she
continued to rant at him.
“Hilary!” He finally yelled into
the phone to get her to shut up. “Shut
up will you?! I’m sorry okay? I didn’t mean to worry all of you. I just wasn’t thinking that clearly at the
time. I’m sorry.”
He heard her sniffle. “Well…okay.
Just promise you’ll never do that again, Tyson!”
He smiled softly, glad Hilary
couldn’t see it. “I swear on Dragoon,
Hil. Can I talk to one of the guys
now?”
“Sure.” More rustling and Max’s voice came over the line.
“Tyson! Are you really okay?” The
blonde’s voice sounded tired and was full of worry.
“I’m really okay, Maxie. I’m sorry I worried you, buddy.” He gripped the phone. “You sound really tired, Max.”
“I am. I haven’t slept yet. I
was too worried about you and Kai. Tala
and Ozuma only got back a few hours ago and they’re both out cold.”
Tyson heaved a sigh. “I’m going to have to do something really
nice for them. And I’ve got a lot of
apologizing to do, too.”
“Yeah. I think you will.” Max
chuckled. “I don’t think anyone else
will yell at you too much though.
Hilary did a good job of that already.”
Tyson snorted. “No kidding. Geez, Max, how do you do it?”
“I love her.” Came the reply. “Besides, she doesn’t yell at me like she does you.”
“Must be nice.”
“I’m going to crash now.” Max said, sighing heavily. “I’ll let you talk to Kenny, Tyson. Take care, okay?”
“You bet! Sleep well, Maxie.” Tyson
heard him hand the phone to someone and Kenny spoke up.
“Are you sure you’re okay,
Tyson?” He sounded suspicious. “Kai’s not making you say it, is he?”
Tyson goggled at the phone. “Chief, that was just too paranoid. Give me a break! I’m fine! Kai’s in the
shower…”
“Huh. If you say so.” There was
a pause. “So what happened anyway? Why’d you go wandering off in a blizzard?”
Blushing, Tyson told him everything,
stressing quite firmly the parts he didn’t want Kenny blabbing to everyone
else. “You can tell Max, Rei, and
Hilary, I guess…but don’t get detailed with the others, please, Chief?”
“I won’t. So you’re really together now?”
He asked, curiously.
“Yeah. I think so. We haven’t
actually discussed that part yet, but we’ll get around to it.”
“That’s great! Do you know when you’re coming back? It’s still horrible out but it’s supposed to
clear up in a day or two.”
Tyson glanced out the window. “I don’t know. We’ll call before we leave, though, Chief.”
“Okay. I’m going to go, now.
Dizzi is demanding quality time.”
Tyson laughed. “Okay.
Bye Chief!”
“Bye Tyson!”
He hung up the phone and curled up
in front of the fire again, waiting for his turn in the shower.
Kai reappeared shortly after, hair
dripping a bit and a fluffy white towel wrapped around his waist. In his hand he carried his boxers, also
dripping on the floor. He hung them up
near the fire to dry.
“Go ahead and shower, Tyson. You might want to wash your boxers too. I didn’t pack clothes before I went looking
for you.”
Tyson nodded. “Yeah.
Be right back.” He slipped off
to the shower, shoving the wonderful, hentai thoughts he’d had at the sight of
Kai into the back of his mind.
Water looks really good on
him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The snowstorm raged on all day and
into the night. Kai found a chessboard
and undertook the task of trying to teach Tyson how to play chess.
“This game is complicated.” Tyson muttered, staring intently at the
board and running through the rules in his mind. “We should have been blading instead.”
“Quit complaining Tyson. Chess is a very complicated game, I
agree. But it’s all about
strategy. You’re a great strategist in
blading, love, so this should be a piece of cake for you once you learn the
rules.” Kai watched him move a bishop
and frowned in concentration. Then he
moved his own bishop. “Checkmate.”
“Huh?” Tyson scowled at the board.
“Ah…crap.” He flicked his King
over, signaling his loss and leaned back on his hands. “Wanna do something else, now?”
“Like what?” Kai began putting away the pieces and
folding up the chessboard. “I could
sleep, actually. Aren’t you
tired?” He glanced at the Grandfather
clock in the corner. “It’s almost 11
pm.”
“I suppose. I don’t know. I guess I just slept so long before…”
“Yeah.” Kai stood and held out a hand.
“Come on, love. If you go to bed
now, maybe you’ll actually get up early for once.”
“Ha. Ha. Ha.” Tyson let Kai pull him up and down the hall.
They split up into the two bedrooms
after sharing a long, languorous goodnight kiss.
Tyson tried to sleep, he really
did. But he kept having a dream about
freezing and no one finding him in time, something that might have
happened.
After tossing and turning several
times, he finally groaned and got up, padding over to Kai’s room in his boxers
and knocking on the door.
Kai jerked awake at the knock and
cursed softly under his breath. He’d
been having a very interesting dream, involving Tyson, chocolate sauce, and a
pair of velvet handcuffs (A/N: winks @ only tyka hotness members). He yawned and stretched, calling out in a
sleepy, husky voice, “Come in, Tyson.”
Tyson came
in, not bothering to close the door (who was going to see them anyway?) and
shuffled his feet sheepishly. “I can’t
sleep.” He said. “Bad dreams.”
“Get over
here, love.” Kai motioned him to the
bed and slid over to make room, since he’d been right in the middle of the
bed. Tyson crawled under the covers
with him and lay on his side facing Kai.
The Phoenix reached out and brushed away a lock of Tyson’s hair from his
face so he could see those midnight blue pools. “Want to tell me about it?”
The Dragon
gave him a small grateful smile but shook his head slightly. “No.
It’s okay. It was just a stupid
nightmare. Thanks though.”
Kai leaned
over and kissed him softly, drawing Tyson into his arms and running his fingers
through silky slate blue hair. “Go to
sleep, baby. I’ll keep the dreams
away.” He closed his eyes and continued
stroking Tyson’s hair.
Tyson snuggled
closer with a happy little sigh and smiled into Kai’s shoulder. “I like this. I could get used to it.”
He murmured.
Kai’s
chuckle sent shivers through him. “So
could I, little Dragon. I never thought
I’d be this close to someone. And yet,
here I am. I don’t know how to do the
emotional stuff, Tyson. But…I’ll try.”
Tyson
raised his head from Kai’s shoulder so he could look him in the eye. “I know.
Kai…it’s enough for me to know you love me. The rest…doesn’t matter.”
He stared into intense crimson flames for a moment, the two lovers
catching glimpses of one another’s very souls.
“Oh baby…I
love you. I wish I had the words to
tell you how much.” Kai cupped Tyson’s
cheek with one large hand, stroking soft skin with his thumb. Tyson shivered and his lips parted on a
sigh, closing his eyes and turning his head to brush his lips over Kai’s
palm. When he reopened his eyes and
looked back at Kai, the Phoenix sucked in a breath at what he saw in Tyson’s
eyes and felt his pulse speed up at Tyson’s next words.
“Then show
me, Kai.” His voice was a bit uneven,
but firm. “Actions speak louder than
words…”
Kai pulled
him down and pressed his lips to Tyson’s.
He felt the teen tremble and he increased the pressure, Tyson’s lips
parting under his, and dipping his tongue inside. Tyson whimpered, little licks of heat swimming in his head and
shooting straight through him. He
kissed back, tentatively touching his tongue to Kai’s in invitation. Kai made a small noise of pleasure in his
throat and stroked Tyson’s tongue back, a small battle ensuing. Wanting more, Kai rolled them over until he
was hovering over Tyson,, gazing down into those deep blue pools and drowning
in the passion he found there. Tyson
smiled at him then and he couldn’t help but smile back, before swooping down
and capturing his mouth once more, tongue delving deep and exploring Tyson’s
moist cavity leisurely.
Tyson
raised his arms and draped them loosely over Kai’s shoulders, weaving the
fingers of one hand through silky slate hair.
He left out a tiny moaning sigh as Kai sent his hands idly wandering
over the Dragon’s shoulders and across his sides, finding a few very
pleasurable zones and using them ruthlessly to make Tyson squirm beneath him.
“Uhn…mmm…”
Tyson’s hand flexed in Kai’s hair and he shifted restlessly. “Kai…”
“Hmm…” Kai
nibbled on his bottom lip, placing a small kiss at the corner of Tyson’s mouth,
dragging his lips back along his jaw and nuzzling the soft, sensitive area
behind Tyson’s ear with his nose. “You
like that huh?” He felt Tyson’s tiny
nod and grinned, sucking the lobe of Tyson’s ear into his mouth and nibbling
gently, making him shiver and gasp quietly.
He moved on, licking and nipping his way down Tyson’s neck and across
his shoulders, tracing patterns over his sides with teasing fingertips. “Want more?”
“Yessss…”
Tyson hissed in pleasure. “Oh yes…” He
ran his hands down Kai’s shoulders and over his chest, brushing his fingers
across Kai’s nipples and making the older teen groan and shudder. He caught Tyson’s hands and pinned them to
the mattress next to his head, gazing at him hotly. Tyson blinked up at him with heavy lidded eyes. “Kai?”
“No
way. Let me show you, love.” Kai bent and kissed him long and hard,
driving out all thought in either of their minds but the pleasure. When Kai found he needed to breathe, he
released Tyson’s mouth and travelled downwards, releasing Tyson’s hands and
levering himself up a bit so he could slide down the tanned, muscular form of
his lover, placing wet, open-mouthed kisses as he went. He found a nipple and grazed it with his
teeth, flicking his tongue over the taut nub and purring in satisfaction when
Tyson moaned and his back arched slightly.
Tyson’s hands came down on his shoulders and gripped as Kai moved over
to the other nipple, lavishing like treatment on it as he had the first. Tyson’s chest quaked in soft pants and he
made small noises of pleasure, filling Kai with passion like nothing else. He wanted nothing more than to keep going
just to see what other sounds he could make Tyson create. He let his hands wander south, still teasing
the Dragon’s nipples with teeth and tongue.
He slowly pushed Tyson’s legs apart and slid down between them, kissing
his way over well-formed stomach muscles that clenched and contracted at his
touch. Against his chest he could feel
Tyson’s hardened length through his cotton boxers.
The
Phoenix’s smile was dark and just a little smug, his tongue drawing wet paths
over Tyson’s stomach and dipping into his navel, making him writhe and gasp
Kai’s name pleadingly. It was music to
Kai’s ears and he relented, grasping the elastic waistband of Tyson’s boxers
and working them slowly off his hips and downwards, finally sitting up enough
to yank them off and toss them carelessly off the side of the bed. Tyson lay before him now, utterly naked and
fully erect, watching Kai with dark eyes and running a hand through his own
hair restlessly as Kai’s hot, flame-filled gaze took an excruciatingly slow
inventory of his body.
“My God,
Tyson. Do you know how fucking
beautiful you are? Especially lying
there like that…” Kai settled back down between his legs and looked up at him,
russet eyes meeting glittering azure.
He turned his head to one side, never breaking eye contact and placed a
soft kiss on Tyson’s inner thigh, his hand caressing the opposite thigh in
slow, teasing circles. “All this
smooth, soft, vanilla skin just begging to be touched…kissed.” Kai placed another kiss on him, a little
farther up, inhaling deeply the scent of Tyson’s need. Tyson shivered and moaned softly, feeling
Kai’s hot breath waft over the most private areas of his body. Kai smiled against his thigh and ran a hand
up over Tyson’s pelvis, teasingly stroking his erection lightly. He hummed, pleased when a fair amount of
pearly liquid erupted from the tip and dripped down his length and Tyson cried
out, his hips coming up off the bed in an effort to get closer to Kai’s hand.
“Aaaaahhhh! Uhn…Kai…fuck, that feels so good…” Tyson
gasped out, grabbing hold of the bed sheets and twisting them in his
fists. Kai rubbed his cheek against
Tyson’s inner thigh, the heady scent of Tyson’s need filling his mind and
making his own erection twitch against the bed and his own confining
boxers. He took hold of Tyson’s weeping
sex and pumped slowly. Tyson tossed his
head back and moaned some more, expelling another burst of pre-cum that
splashed Kai’s hand. Growling with
want, Kai took the swollen head into his mouth, sucking hard and swirling his
tongue over him, licking away all the salty fluid hungrily. “Mmmmaaaaahhhh! Kai! Oh!”
“You’re
taste is addictive.” Kai’s voice was
low and husky and he continued pumping Tyson rhythmically, sucking on his tip
and lightly scraping his teeth over it.
He ran the other hand up Tyson’s leg, levering them farther apart and
gently massaged Tyson’s balls, shuddering at the little mewling sounds the
Dragon was making now. “Gods! And those sounds you make are so fucking
sexy!”
“Kaaaaiiiii!” Tyson cried out his name desperately,
feeling as though he stood on the edge of a cliff waiting for something,
needing it so badly it was almost painful.
His eyes had slid closed but he could still see colours bursting like
fireworks in his mind, the pleasure increasing every moment. His body trembled and burned, sweat trickled
down his face and he gripped the bed so tightly his knuckles were turning
white.
But just
when he thought he was going to find release and fly over that cliff edge into
the shining abyss, Kai stopped everything, cutting off his orgasm with one hand
and sitting up, watching his lover writhe and moan. “Uhn…fuck, Kai! I
need…I…I can’t…”
“Not yet
baby…” Kai shook his head and released Tyson, wriggling out of his boxers and
looking around for lotion. He found
some in the bedside table and used it to slick his fingers and Tyson’s puckered
virgin entrance. Tyson spread his legs
wide and bent his knees, giving Kai as much access as he could that way. Kai watched his finger slide past the ring
of muscle relatively easily, wriggling it a little to stretch Tyson. The Dragon gasped and stuffed a fist into
his mouth, flushing pink from the roots of his hair and down over his
chest. His other hand reached up
blindly to grab the wrought iron poles that made up the headboard of the bed,
gripping tightly to anchor himself to reality as Kai slipped in a second
finger, stretching him further. Then a
third and Tyson’s hips moved on their own with the thrusting motion of Kai’s
hand, the sound Tyson made increasing in volume and turning into a steady
stream of moans and gasps.
When Kai
withdrew his fingers and Tyson let out a choked whimper of protest, prying his
eyes open to watch Kai use the lotion to coat his weeping length liberally, his
burgundy eyes darkened with pleasure. He
moved up Tyson’s prone form, positioning himself then drawing Tyson’s hands
down so that their hands clasped and fingers linked, resting them next to
Tyson’s head on the pillow on either side.
Kai stared down into Tyson’s midnight eyes that were hazy with pure
pleasure. Tyson felt Kai’s erection
nudge his entrance and he nodded at Kai’s unspoken question. “Now!”
Kai thrust
into him without further hesitation, giving a hoarse shout as he sank into
Tyson’s hot, wet depth and felt those slick walls grip at him. His mouth sought Tyson’s and he swallowed
the cries of ecstasy that escaped the Dragon.
With supreme effort he held himself still, gripping Tyson’s smaller
hands tightly. Kai tore his mouth from
Tyson’s and buried his face in Tyson’s hair draped over the pillow. He could feel Tyson tremble and shift under
him, around him. “Fuck!” He groaned.
“Is it supposed to feel this good?”
“Aah…Kai…”
Tyson moaned, dazed. Digging out the
energy from somewhere to regain control of his motor functions through his
lust-fogged brain, he raised one bent leg and hooked it around Kai’s waist,
rubbing the inside of the other leg against Kai’s hip. They both let out gasps as Kai sank further
into Tyson. “Mmm…oh yeah…” Fire burned
along his nerves and he shifted his hips experimentally, earning a harsh cry of
need from Kai and a hot, questioning look.
“Okay?” Kai managed to get out, rubbing his mouth
over Tyson’s. “Baby?”
“Fucking
fantastic.” Tyson panted, squeezing
Kai’s fingers. “More…please…”
That was all
the encouragement Kai needed to hear.
He slowly withdrew himself, leaving just his tip still inside Tyson,
then slammed back in with a small cry of need.
Tyson clutched at his hands and met Kai’s next thrust with his own. Two strangled cries echoed each other and
Kai repeated the movement, groaning Tyson’s name. He kept moving rhythmically at a slow, careful pace. His muscles quivered with the effort and he
took his hands from Tyson’s, propping himself up on his forearms and gripping
fistfuls of sheets. “Oh my God…you feel
so good.” He growled, rubbing
his cheek against Tyson’s. Tyson
slicked his hands down Kai’s sweaty back, his breath coming in soft pants.
“Ahh…fuck!” Tyson cried out, their bodies rocking and
straining together. “Kai! Please…I’m not fragile!” As good as it felt to have Kai inside him,
he was going too slow and not hard enough for Tyson’s taste. He could tell he was holding back and he
didn’t want that.
“Uhn…Tyson,
I know that!”
Tyson
cupped Kai’s face in his hands and forced him to look into his eyes. “Then why are you holding back?” He gave Kai a hot, demanding kiss, biting
down gently on Kai’s bottom lip and tugging, watching those crimson eyes
flare. “Ah…there you are. You don’t take it easy on me any other time,
so don’t you dare start now. I can take
what you’ve got, Hiwatari. Don’t go
easy on me.”
Kai stared
down at him for a moment, stopping his movements. A slow smirk spread and Tyson grinned. “Think of it as a challenge, lover.” He leaned up and whispered in Kai’s ear, his lips brushing over
it as he spoke in a needy, passionate voice, “So are you going to fuck me
properly or are you just going to stare at me?” He felt Kai shudder once and pull out of him.
Then
suddenly he was flipped over on his hands and knees and Kai’s hands were on his
hips, drawing him back to met the hard forward thrust as Kai drove into
him. He cried out and shoved his hips
back. “AH! YES!” Tyson reached out
and grabbed hold of the wrought iron bars of the headboard for balance as Kai
continued to pound into him, every time hitting something deep inside him that
made him see white. “Ah…ah…ah…fuck!”
Kai’s eyes
closed and he wrapped one muscular arm around Tyson’s waist for support and to
keep him in one place. He was getting very
close to loosing it and it made him slam into the Dragon faster and harder, his
thrust becoming shorter and shorter. He
pressed himself to Tyson’s back, nuzzling the nape of his neck and placing wet,
desperate kisses along his neck and sinking his teeth into Tyson’s shoulder,
leaving a near-perfect imprint of his teeth.
Tyson yelped and jerked under him, a sudden burst of pre-cum erupting
from him. Kai groaned and used his free
hand to stroke Tyson’s erection as he thrust deep.
The
stimulation was too much and Tyson gave a sharp cry as he came explosively,
coating Kai’s hand in his essence and shuddering violently, his whole body
shaking with the force of it. His mind
went blank and he gulped in air, swimming in overwhelming pleasure. He went limp and whimpered at the continuous
shocks of pure ecstasy as Kai grasped his hips, fingers kneading and digging
into him almost enough to bruise as he drove into him only twice more before
letting go completely.
“Oh…my…fucking…uhhhhnnn…Tyson!” Kai shouted his name and let out a low,
keening moan, his essence rushing out of him and into Tyson as waves of
sensation washed over him, making him shake and jerk heavily over Tyson. He pulled out quickly with a shuddering gasp
and they both collapsed to the mattress.
Tyson let
go of the headboard and just lay there, sprawled, and in a hazy stupor,
breathing hard and sweating. Kai’s
panting form blanketed his back and the Phoenix burrowed his face into Tyson’s
neck with a satisfied smirk at Tyson’s pleased sigh.
They lay
together like that for a while until Tyson finally groaned, “Ugh. Kai?
You’re heavy.”
With a
grunt of acknowledgement, Kai rolled off Tyson and yawned, stretching like a
cat and glancing at his lover. He
brushed aside Tyson’s long slate blue hair out of his face, smiling
affectionately into glowing sapphire eyes.
He slicked a hand up and down Tyson’s back, his skin damp from exertion.
“Hmm…”
Tyson smiled back, licking his lips and stroking Kai’s shoulder lazily. “I knew you were holding back.” His smile turned into a wicked grin. “What took you so long?”
Kai
snickered. “I guess I was up to your
challenge.” He drawled, his hand
drifting down to lightly slap Tyson on the ass, grinning when he yelped and
glowered at him. He laughed outright at
the Dragon’s petulant expression and pulled him into his arms, so that Tyson’s
legs straddled him and Tyson was draped over his chest. “You’re adorable when you’re annoyed.”
Tyson
sniffled indignantly and curled into him, snuggling up to Kai’s warmth in
contentment. “Gee, Kai, thanks.” He grumbled closing his eyes with a sigh and
purring happily when Kai wrapped an arm around him and stroked his spine idly,
drawing the covers up over them with his free hand.
“Well, when
you’re not annoyed you’re sexy as hell, baby.”
Kai kissed the top of his head.
“And you fit me perfectly too.”
He traced a finger over Tyson’s cheek.
“Hey, Tyson?”
Tyson
looked up with sleepy eyes. “Yeah?”
“I love
you.”
Tyson’s
smile was like the sun coming up. “Love
you too.” He pressed his mouth to Kai’s
briefly then curled up again. “By the
way, Kai, I feel much better now.
I think I could sleep.”
Kai smiled
smugly. “Go to sleep, baby. Since I wore you out, you’ll need your
rest…” His tone was suggestive and he closed his own eyes.
Tyson
growled into his chest. “Yeah, like
you’re any more energetic right now than I am.”
As he was
drifting off, he felt Kai’s hand rove downwards over one butt cheek and squeeze
possessively, and he heard, “Sweet dreams, my little storm dragon.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When they
work up the next morning, wrapped around one another and tangled up in the
sheets, the blizzard was over and the sun shone brightly into the bedroom,
piercing Kai’s eyes through his eyelids.
He turned his
head away from the window and slowly opened his eyes. Kai rubbed the sleep away and glanced down at the still
slumbering form of his lover. “Hmm…wake
up, baby. The storm’s over.” Kai ran his fingers through Tyson’s hair,
massaging his shoulder.
Tyson
sighed deeply and nestled in further, mumbling something incoherently.
“Tyson…”
Kai called his name, dragging the syllables out. “Wake up!”
“Why?” He grumbled. “Comfy…sleepy…”
“I
know. But the snow’s stopped. See?”
Tyson
reluctantly raised his head and blinked at the sunshine flooding through the
window. “How nice. Can I go back to sleep now?”
Kai laughed
and rolled Tyson off of him. “No. Come on, baby. Get up, get dressed, and let’s get out of here. I’ll go phone the others and let them know
we’re coming.” He slid out of bed and
padded out the door, grabbing his boxers along the way.
Tyson
stretched out the kinks and got up, picking up his underwear and following Kai
out to the sitting room to get the rest of his clothes.
He dressed
while Kai was on the phone, sitting on the sofa and watching when Kai hung up
and pulled on his own clothes.
“Damn. You’re hot.” He crawled into Kai’s lap when he sat down next to him and kissed
Kai softly. “Couldn’t we stay here
longer? I just want you all to myself
now…”
Kai
smiled. “Baby, you’re stuck with
me. I’m not going to leave you,
ever.” He brushed his lips over his
mark on Tyson’s shoulder through the fabric of his shirt. “Mine.”
Tyson
sighed and nuzzled Kai’s neck.
“Yes. Finally.”
A horn
blaring outside grabbed their attention.
Kai nudged Tyson off his lap and got up. “Come on, Tyson. Johnny
sent a car to pick us up.” Kai put on
his winter gear.
“A
car?” Tyson pulled on his boots and
coat. “In all that snow?”
“He said
the snowploughs were out early this morning.”
Kai opened the front door and walked out, Tyson right behind him.
“Hey you
two!” Robert was leaning on the car on
the driver’s side. “Ready to go back?”
“Hi,
Robert!” Tyson waved at him
cheerfully. “Thanks for coming all the
way out here to pick us up.”
“Sure. Get in and let’s go.”
Kai and
Tyson climbed into the backseat and Robert got in the driver’s side and they
headed back to the mansion.
As they
drove, the eldest Majestic glanced back at them in the rear-view mirror. He had to smile a little because Kai had
Tyson’s hand grasped firmly in his, though he was looking out the window, and
Tyson was leaning on him, completely relaxed.
Robert turned his eyes back to the road and said to them, “I take it you
fixed things between you.”
“Fixed
things?” Tyson asked, confused. He looked at his boyfriend. “What’s he mean?”
“I told
them we had a fight and needed to work it out.” Kai explained, squeezing his hand.
“Oh.” Tyson thought about that. “Well, it wasn’t really a fight. More like a misunderstanding.”
Kai
shrugged. “Whatever. It’s over.
We’ve worked it out. That’s all
that matters.” Tyson snuggled in a
little more.
“Yeah.”
They
arrived at the mansion and were greeted as they walked in by all of their
friends and teammates.
“Tyson!” Came the chorus.
“Hi,
everyone.” He looked down at the floor
and shuffled his feet. “I’m so sorry I
worried all of you.” He gave them all a
very apologetic bow.
Then he was
on the floor after being glomped by Max, Kenny, and Rei. “AH!
Hey! Guys! Kai!
Help!”
Kai shook
his head with a small smile and leaned against the wall watching as Rei grabbed
Tyson in a headlock and proceeded to mess up his hair while Max and Kenny held
him down and tickled him mercilessly.
“Sorry. On that, you’re on your
own.”
“Aaaaggghhhh! Rei!
Cut that out!” Tyson struggled
and laughed. “Ah ha ha! Max!
Damn it! Stop! Alright, already! I give up!”
Still
laughing, they let him go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two days
later the grand ballroom was packed full of people for Johnny’s New Year’s
bash.
Kai was
leaning against a huge marble column, in typical ‘Kai pose.’ Tyson grabbed a flute of champagne for
himself and one for Kai and sauntered over.
When he stopped in front of Kai and silently held out the glass, Kai
cracked open one eye and smiled softly at him.
“Thanks, lover.” He took it from
Tyson and sipped.
Tyson
grinned at him. “Well, it’s almost
midnight. You have to have something to
toast with.”
“Hey,
guys!” Max and Hilary joined them near
the column, Kenny and Rei right behind them.
Salima was on Rei’s arm and both looked quite happy about it. Kenny had Dizzi with him, as usual. “You ready for the count down?”
Tyson held
up his glass. “Ready to go!”
Johnny got
everyone’s attention and held up his own glass. “Okay everyone! Let’s
count it down! 10…9…8…”
Tyson
ignored the counting around them, staring up at Kai with bright, midnight blue
eyes. Kai bent over him until they were
just inches apart. “…7…6…” His crimson
eyes let Tyson see everything inside of him that he had for the Dragon.
“…5…4…3…”
“Kai…”
Tyson raised his free hand and slid his fingers through Kai’s hair. Kai’s arm snaked around his waist and drew
Tyson close to his body.
“…2…1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!” There was cheering and applause all around
them, but they didn’t hear it. Kai bent
further and captured Tyson’s mouth, their eyes sliding closed and savouring the
sensations that rushed through them.
Their
teammates and Hilary stared at the passionately kissing couple. Rei and Max reached out and quickly snapped
up their glasses before they dropped them as their arms came up and wrapped
around each other, totally forgetting everything but each other.
“Geez…” Rei
chuckled, blinking when Kai’s hands skimmed down Tyson’s sides and cupped his
butt, lifting him slightly. “Do they
breathe?”
Max bent
and planted a similar kiss on Hilary.
They broke apart breathlessly.
“Nah. Who needs air?”
Hilary
grinned at him.
Kai’s
tongue swept across Tyson’s one last time and he pulled away slowly. “Happy New Year, baby.” He said huskily.
Tyson’s
loving smile made him feel just a little weak in the knees. “Happy New Year, Kai.”
Kai reached
into his pocket and drew out a small wrapped box that Tyson recognized. His eyes snapped up to meet Kai’s and he
stared at him in surprise.
“You didn’t
open it yet?”
“No. I waited for Christmas like you told me, but
I’d left it in my coat pocket and nearly forgotten it.” Kai gave him an apologetic look. “That and…I almost don’t want to. It’s…this is the first Christmas present
I’ve ever gotten since…as far back as I can remember.”
Tyson laid
his hand over the box in Kai’s hand.
“Well, you could open it now.”
He suggested.
Kai nodded
and carefully began unwrapping the box while Tyson looked on anxiously, hoping
very much that he’d like it. They’d
totally forgotten about everyone else and ignored the toasting and
conversations around them.
“Oh!” Kai let out a tiny gasp when he removed the
lid of the small box. “Wow…Tyson it’s
beautiful.”
“You like
it?” He asked, tentatively. “I had to save up for a long time to get one
for each of us.”
Kai pulled
out the gold chain and pendant and held it up, watching the image of Dranzer
imprinted in the centre of the small gold bit-piece pendant glint in the
light. “It’s beautiful.” He repeated, undoing the clasp and putting
the necklace on. “Thank you, Tyson.”
“You’re
welcome!” Tyson traced the image with
one finger. “It suits you.”
“Maybe.” Kai enfolded him in his arms again and
leaned down to brush a soft kiss on his mouth.
“You suit me better.”
Tyson
grinned and a tear slipped down his cheek.
“I love you.”
“I love
you.” Kai kissed him again, thoroughly.
Hilary
sniffled and Kenny handed her a handkerchief.
Max slipped an arm around her waist and she leaned on him. “That’s so sweet!” Max commented.
Salima
tugged on Rei’s hand. “How long has
that been going on?” She asked,
curiously.
He
shrugged. “I couldn’t tell you,
Salima. But it’s a great thing to see.”
When Kai
and Tyson broke apart again, flushed and breathing raggedly, the others cheered
and clapped their hands. The couple
blinked at each other, startled, then looked around them.
“Uh…hi,
guys!” Tyson turned a bright shade of
red. “Happy New Year?”
Before
anyone could answer him, Kai tossed him over his shoulder and stalked toward
the exit, hauling Tyson away.
“Hey! Kai?! I can walk, you know!” He grabbed Kai’s scarf as it floated outward
behind them. “Hello? Put me down!”
“Not
happening.” Kai patted his butt
affectionately. “Bedtime, lover.”
Tyson went
limp and hid his face in Kai’s shirt.
“This is so embarrassing.”
The crowd
parted as Kai carted Tyson off.
Johnny grinned
evilly and yelled, “Let’s give the new year’s newest couple a big round of
applause!”
As the
crowd cheered and clapped, Kai and Tyson disappeared, more than happy to leave
the party behind and just be together – for the rest of their lives.
