Disclaimer: I don't own GW or it's Chars, but I still say life would be sweeter if I did. *Grins*
Okay, so this maybe is a little shorter, maybe even as long as the last chapter and I hope people like this one better...
I know how hard it is for some people to review but if you like or don't like, please R&R anyway... You have nothing lose, unless some of you actually like what I have been writing. Like every other author will tell you, no reviews, no more story... and if you don't like this story, or think it needs more, let me know. I may add your ideas... You never know...
Chapter 2: Rough Start.
Erin couldn't say anything less of the car ride then, 'Total Hell'. Four out of five boys sat in complete silence the whole ride. She felt like an experimental zoo exibit as they watched, studied, glared at, or just out right ignored her very existance. The fifth, barely stopped talking long enough to pull air in his lungs. She was fully incapable of doing her own detailed investigation of them in return thanks to Duo. He made it nigh impossible to even think, let alone focus on a task. They were still a good half-mile or so from the school, but, as Duo pointed out, it was easily visible at that distance.
"This is our school!" Duo beamed, pausing long enough for her to get a good view of the massive structure. 'God, does this kid ever stop talking?' She thought to herself. 'I can tell this will be a very, very long year.' She sighed, and then jumped slightly as Duo poked her. "You okay?" He asked, cocking his head. All she could do was nod, her fingers entwined with the fabric of her shirt in center of her chest. She thought it odd as she saw the blonde haired boy, no, Quatre, reach to grip his own chest slightly. 'I wonder what's causing his pain?' She shrugged it off as the car stopped.
They all got out of the car, some stretching, others continuing to stare at her as though she were a bomb about to explode. She managed an indifferent look, attempting to get her bags from the trunk. Quatre stopped her mid tug.
"Rashid will get them." He said with a small smile, gesturing to the driver. "We don't have much to worry about here except for studies, and activities. So, don't worry." Erin nodded once.
Duo took an immediate hold on her arm and half dragged her to the front doors. "Take a deep breath! You're about to enter a sanctuary!" Before she could even register what he said she was pulled across the thresh hold. 'Home, sweet, home.' She thought sarcastically rolling her eyes a bit.
He gave her the grand tour, leaving no carpet, tapestry, or painting unturned. He was intent on making sure that she saw everything on her first day. He even got her classes for her, and showed her to her room, just as he said he would. The fact that she was geographically situated amidst all five of these strange boys did unnerve her though.
Duo left her to unpack and get acquainted with the room before dinnertime, asking before he left if she was really so sure that she wanted to be alone. At her single nod, he left. The room was big for a private school room. It had it's own bathroom, with a shower and a separate bath. "Big enough to fit two or three of me." She mumbled, turning to scan the rest of her new quarters. Not to mention the all-too-spacious walk in closet, fancy dresser with an atatched mirror, and two night tables saddling the grand king-sized, draped, four post bed.
"Wow!" She said in an awed voice. "Maybe I don't give him enough credit when he says he cares." She let slip, her eyes welling up with tears. Angrily, she swipped them away. She may seem as though she hated him, but he was the closest thing she had left to a family, even if he did keep her at arm's length. She still loved him.
A solid two hours of eerie quiet passed as she put everything where she was comfortable with it being. Not sure when dinner was, but not wanting to be disturbed just yet by Duo, she lay on the bed, allowing herself to become lost in her thoughts.
"Erin?" A distant voice called. She felt a weak shake go through her.
"Erin." This time more violent.
"ERIN!" ~Whack! ~ She woke up with a start, pained violet eyes staring at her with hands covering a nose. Her eyes widened. "I'm so sorry! Are you alright?" She asked, a bit panicked as she saw the other four about her. "Fine." Came his muffled reply. "I was jus about to ask you da same questiom. Where you havin' a nightmare? You were flailin', and screamin', and you threw a pillow. Den when I tried to wake you," His eyes trailed down the bridge of his nose.
"Will you be okay?" She asked him, receiving a nod. "It's not broken. Not bleeding. I think I'll live." He removed his hands and grinned at her. "Anyway, on a lighter note, dinner is ready and waiting. I'm sorry you didn't get to see any of the other students earlier, most were still unpacking."
The trip to the dining room was pretty quiet, other than Duo's spared comments and the steadily increasing noise of the other students. Once the group stepped into the eating area, however, all motions and sounds ceased. As she walked by with the boys, everyone in the room stared, some even began to whisper quietly amongst themselves.
"Duo," She leaned over to him. "What's with the sudden-?"
"Prey in danger like silence, then hushed talk?" She looked at him, shocked by the words he used. "One, you're new. Two, you're with us. Three, we're allowing it. We're kind of the heads of the school. Everyone wants to be us. Wants to be with us. This is also a first for them as far as seeing us with: A. A new student. B. A female. And C. Someone else dressed as we are. These students are used to only us out of uniform."
She blinked a few times as she looked down at her clothes. She hadn't thought about the fact that she had never gotten around to putting her uniform on. Erin couldn't help but to look at the students around her, watching her, maybe even envying her. The moment her and the boys sat down, like a crack of thunder the entire hall erupted into chatter, and she knew whom about. She blushed lightly as she lowered her head, downcasting her eyes. She felt like a six headed alien.
The dinner was bearable, though slightly annoying with everyone staring at her all throughout the meal. Regardless, somehow, she reveled in it. Sitting at a table on her first day, at a new school, with the heads of student envy. Quatre and Duo continued to fire off questions in rapid succession. For the first time ever in the shortest amount of time she felt confident and marginally welcomed.
"So did you ever go out and party?" Duo asked suddenly, changing subject for the sixth time.
"Yeah," She cringed thinking about those times. "But not that often. Not anymore."
"Why is that?" Duo pushed.
"I don't want to say." She whispered lightly.
"Awww! Come on! Tell us! We can be trusted." Duo pleaded, nudging her.
"I'm really not-"
"Please?" He was pushing too far now.
"I don't-"
"Just a little answer-"
"That's it!" She screamed, slamming her palms on the table and pushing her chair away as she stood up. The room went silent. "I said that I don't want to answer that and I won't!" Tears fell from now deep storm cloud eyes, her hair flowing about her whilst she shook her head frantically. Without so much as another word she ran from the room, not giving a second thought, or look to anyone.
Erin nearly knocked down her own bedroom door once she reached it. She then hurled herself onto the giant bed, covering her head with one of the pillows.
Duo was getting four definite sets of glares.
Well? Come on! What did you think? Tell me!!!! I can learn to do better.... just let me know what's wrong... or what you like....and if you don't review, you suck my teddy bear's foot... *sticks tongue out at them all then takes off running in a wild zig-zag pattern* Harely, Al, RAJIA!! Don't let the people get you!! Defensive postitions!!!!
