“So, how was your date with Broly last night?” Sentaro asked Vegeta with much humor as they walked down the hall toward their first class.
“Fuck you.” Vegeta grumbled in response as he limped slightly. He also wore a high-collared jacket, so no one could see all the hickeys the big idiot left. Mrs. Nohara even had the decency to ask if he was coming down with something.
Sentaro raised his hands, as if in surrender. “No, thank you. It looks painful.” All he got was a glare in return. “So, did you stay the night there?”
Vegeta stopped limping to class and turned the glare full force to his friend. “Well I sure as hell couldn’t WALK home! Besides…he wouldn’t let me leave.” He whispered angrily then grumbled the last part with shame.
“Hm. Well, beats staying at home anyway, right?” Sentaro said with some comfort in his tone.
Vegeta stared ahead for a moment. “I guess so. My dad tried calling me last night, but unfortunately, I was unable to…answer.”
“Did you call him back?”
“Nah. Why chance it? Hopefully, he doesn’t even remember last night.” Vegeta then continued ‘limping’ to class and Sentaro frowned a little and followed.
‘At least I have something to look forward to today. What am I saying? Every day I have something to look forward to.’ Vegeta thought as he gingerly sat down at his usual seat and stared at the empty spot where his crush usually sat. He looked at the clock and noticed only five more minutes until class started. But when class did start, the new boy still didn’t show, concern came over his features. ‘Where is he? He hasn’t missed class yet. Maybe he’s running late?’ He sighed in disappointment at not being able to see his crush first thing in the morning. ‘I hope he comes in later. He better.’
When lunch time came around, Kakarot still didn’t show. ‘Where the hell is that gorgeous bastard? God, I feel like I’m going crazy without him here! It’s absurd!’ Vegeta had his head on the table, food untouched, as he sulked. “C’mon, cheer up. Maybe he started his weekend early.” Sentaro tried to comfort his friend.
Vegeta’s head lifted. “What’s today?”
“Friday.” Noaru answered solemnly. He doesn’t even get excited on Fridays.
“Hm. Maybe you’re right.” Vegeta then rested his head on his hand and stared off into space.
Sentaro looked around. “Where’s your horn dog today?” He asked around a mouthful.
“He already got what he wanted from me yesterday. He should be set for a couple more weeks.” Vegeta answered casually.
“Ah. So he’s one of those kind of guys. Goes to you for a booty call every once in a while and you answer.” Sentaro finished in a tone that sounded like, ‘you have no one to blame but yourself.’
“Do you see anyone else here that’s eager to have sex with me? I’d sure as hell would like it to be Kakarot.” Vegeta mumbled the last part and rested his head on his arms.
“Dude, that’s pathetic. You don’t even know the guy. For all you know, he could be a huge prick who’s obsessed with himself. It sure would explain why he doesn’t talk to anybody. Probably thinks he’s too good to talk to any of us.” Sentaro muttered around a bite.
“Is not! You don’t know that.” Vegeta defended his crush.
“You just don’t want him to be like that. Look,” His friend turned to him. “you need to either forget about him, or confront him. Otherwise, you’ll never know what kind of a person he is.”
“He’s right, Vegeta. It’s time you stop admiring from a distance and see if you admire him up close.” Noaru spoke up to help out his buddy.
Vegeta was speechless. “Confront him? But…I don’t know if I…how should I…?” He groaned out at his dilemma and covered his face with a hand.
“Now that’s where we can’t help you out, man. You’re the one who’s going to have to find the right moment and place to talk to him.” Sentaro added.
“That’s not right. You guys convince me to talk to him and now you’re saying that you can’t give me any advice in how to do that.” He rolled his eyes. “I have the best friends in the world.” He mumbled sarcastically.
“C’mon, man. We’re guys. Girls are the ones who have to deal with that shit.” Sentaro finished his meal and moved to dump his tray.
Vegeta grabbed his arm. “Wait a minute, are you saying that I’m a girl?”
Sentaro turned to him. “Well, you were when you were with Broly. Was there ever a time when you were on top in that relationship?” He looked at him.
Vegeta gave a sour look. “No.”
“See, you don’t know how to be the dominant in a relationship. How else would you have gone through five girls in two years without one of them staying with you for more than a month?” Sentaro explained matter-of-factly.
“That was in junior high.” Vegeta stated.
“Well, still…you haven’t gone out with any other girls since then.”
“It’s because there aren’t any good ones here.” Vegeta took a sip of his milk.
“Not true. I’ve heard them gossip and they said you’re a lousy boyfriend.” Sentaro gave his friend a look.
Vegeta didn’t say anything for a moment then sighed. “Damn it, I think you’re right.” He ran a hand through his hair.
“Of course I am. Take it from a guy who’s known you most of your life.” And with that his friend left to dump his tray.
Vegeta looked over at his other friend, who was doing the same thing he always did when it came to this time of day, playing with his food. “Why don’t you ever eat your food?” He asked finally. A question that has been bothering him for years.
Noaru looked up at him. “Playing with it is more fun than eating it.” He turned his attention back to his creative shape that he made his mashed potatoes out of.
Vegeta gave him an odd look and turned his attention elsewhere. When Sentaro returned, he looked at his friend’s untouched meal. “You better eat if you want your strength up for gym.”
“What for? I don’t want to puke it up later.” He answered casually.
“But it’s game day, remember?” Sentaro asked seriously, then his expression lightened. “How’s your butt? It has to be better in order for us to win this time.” He couldn’t help but smile.
Vegeta sat with realization. “Oh, yeah! Kick ball, hell yes!” He pounded the table with excitement, ignoring his other question, then stopped. “But, Kakarot’s not here.”
“Precisely. Maybe this time our team will win.” Sentaro said with a smirk.
“Aw, but I always like it when Kakarot hits people with the ball.” Vegeta hung his head in disappointment.
“So, does this mean I can eat your food?” Sentaro ignored his friend’s suddenly depressing mood.
Vegeta lifted his head and snatched his tray and started chowing down on his food. Sentaro pouted in disappointment.

After Vegeta and Sentaro’s team won and seminar was over with, Vegeta waited for his friends to be done at their lockers so they can walk home together. Vegeta lived on the corner of North and Elm Street and Sentaro lived next to him. The street being on the edge of a woods that stretched a few acres. Noaru lived a couple houses away, but it’s fortunate that they all live on the same street. Kakarot lived across from Vegeta, in the abandoned mansion that was previously owned by some old man who hated his neighbors and never left his precious home. The place had only been abandoned for a few months until Kakarot and his father occupied it. Vegeta believed his dad to be a doctor. How else would they get so much doe for the place? Vegeta’s dad was a bartender, so he raked in plenty of green, but he also raked in plenty of alcohol. That’s right. His dad was a drunk. If his dad kept it up, he’ll soon be the town drunk. This was a very moist town. People practically drowned in it since it’s such a small town and their events were so huge, people would have hangovers for a week. Vegeta never bothered touching the stuff, seeing what it did to his dad.
As the three headed home, Vegeta heard some rustling behind him, but ignored it and continued listening to his friend as he worriedly talked about a girl he wanted to ask out, but at the same time, liked a guy he found irresistible. Vegeta turned his attention to the subject, making sure it wasn’t about Kakarot, but he heard the rustling again and turned his head slightly and saw nothing. They walked on for another block, then Vegeta heard the sound again. He whirled around, but once again saw nothing. “Okay, do you guys keep hearing that?” He asked, starting to freak out a little.
His friends stopped and looked behind them. “Hear what?” Sentaro obviously wasn’t paying attention.
“Yeah, I heard it a couple times.” Noaru spoke up.
Vegeta walked forward a bit and waited. “What are you guys talking about?” Sentaro asked again.
“Shut up for a minute.” Vegeta said and everyone was quiet for a moment, but no other movement was heard. “Hm. Must’ve been a squirrel or the wind.” He said finally and turned to join his friends.
Suddenly, a big brown dog jumped out and tackled Vegeta to the ground. “Ah!” He let out as he hit the ground.
“Relax, it’s just the neighbors’ dog.” Sentaro said as he went over to pet it, while it was still on Vegeta’s back.
“That’s comforting. Now, can you get it off me?” Vegeta said, frustration evident in his voice.
Sentaro chuckled and grabbed the dog’s collar to guide it off his friend’s back. “He’s been getting out more recently.” He and Noaru petted the St. Bernard.
“The owners are probably just careless. Let him go for now, he’ll eventually go home. Now c’mon. I want to see if Kakarot’s home.” Vegeta stated as he got up and brushed himself off, then popped his spine back into place.
“Okay, fine.” Sentaro and Noaru both stood. “Go on home Bentley. Go on.” Sentaro shooed him toward his home, which was a few houses down from where they were. The dog hesitated for a moment, but eventually went back in the direction of his home. “I guess that solves the noise issue.” Sentaro stated, then continued on home, friends following.
When they got to Elm, Vegeta suddenly thought of something. “Hey, you guys? Can either of you help me with history? And math? And…biology?” Vegeta sighed. “I haven’t been paying attention in class lately and thanks to a certain horn dog, I haven’t been able to do my homework all week. After all, he kept begging me to fuck him.” He grumbled the last part.
Sentaro and Noaru looked at each other, then at their friend. “Why don’t you ask Kakarot? I’m sure he’ll be more than eager to help you out. After all, all he seems to do is study.” Sentaro suggested.
“I’ve thought about that…but what if he says no?”
“Then we’ll help you out.” Noaru said.
Vegeta glared at them. “You guys suck.”
“You have to find a way to talk to him somehow.” Sentaro said as he headed over to his house. “See ya next week Noah.” He waved to his other friend, who also made his way home.
Vegeta was headed to his, then froze when he noticed his dad’s car in front of the house, the kitchen light on. ‘He must’ve gotten off early tonight.’ He panicked and ran over to Sentaro. “Hey, do you think I can spend the night at your place tonight?”
He looked in the kitchen, seeing Vegeta’s dad pace in the kitchen. “I’ll ask my mom.” He went into the house as Vegeta fidgeted in his place. After a few minutes, his friend emerged from the house, followed by some yelling, then stood in front of his distraught friend. “Sorry man. She’s real bitchy tonight. You could ask Noah.” Sentaro looked apologetic.
Vegeta looked back over at Noaru’s retreating figure. “No, I don’t like staying over there. His sister flirts with me.”
“Honestly, that whore would fuck his own brother if the need ever arose. Look, would you rather put up with a slut or a drunk?”
He thought about it. “I don’t know. She’s tried to rape me in my sleep a couple times…” Vegeta continued to show his discomfort. “I’ll sleep at home tonight, since I didn’t last night.” He answered unsurely, then looked at his house, but didn’t move where he was.
Sentaro studied his long time friend for a while. “Alright, man. But if I see bruises tomorrow, I’m calling the police.” He pointed at the kitchen window, the gesture intended for the man inside.
“Sentaro, I told you to quit doing that.” Vegeta said in an urging tone, but knowing that his friend was just protecting him.
“Why not?” Sentaro urged.
“Because, he’s all I have. Besides, this’ll be like the hundredth complaint from you. He always manages to talk his way out of it and you know I’m going to make up an excuse. You’re efforts are futile.” Vegeta tried explaining to him. His dad has been drinking ever since his mom died in a car accident when he was ten. Practically every night the man drinks himself into a coma…and he’s abusive. It could be because he blames his son for his mom’s death. He was with her when she died, but he managed to survive. It’s still traumatizing him to this day just remembering his mother being impaled through the head by a steel pole from the top of the truck they crashed into. The horrible truth of it was…it was his fault. His mother was looking at one of his school papers. He was really happy that he got an A on it and had to show his mother immediately. She wasn’t paying attention and well…hit oncoming traffic.
Now, his dad wasn’t abusive when he was sober, but he yelled at him. Also, he doesn’t seem to remember ever hitting his son when he was drunk and it irked Vegeta whenever his dad had questioned him on where he got the bruises. But, Vegeta decided not to tell him. His father already has a wounded heart. It would be awful to know that he was abusing his own son without him knowing.
Sentaro sighed. Feeling helpless in not being able to help his best friend. “Vegeta, you have to get away from this. You can’t keep this up for too much longer.”
“And where should I go? Besides, I’ve been putting up with it for seven years now and I haven’t caved yet.” Vegeta reassured him.
His friend just shook his head with concern. “Whatever, man. Call me if you want to get away this weekend.” He threw out as a last resort to help him, then went inside when he got a ‘okay’ as a response.
Vegeta turned toward his house and slowly headed toward it. Another feeling of foreboding poured from the green, two story house (most of the houses in the town are big; like most small towns seem to have). He took a deep breath, then exhaled and made his way inside. He slowly opened the front door and tried in vain to be quiet, but the door was too creaky. As soon as he closed the door, he turned to meet a fist. He was slammed into the door and held his face with one hand. Then, he was suddenly grabbed by the collar of his jacket and was brought up to a very pissed off and very drunk father. “Where the hell were you last night?!” He slurred angrily and staggered a bit as he waited for a response.
Vegeta tried recovering from the hit and shook his head to get rid of the black spots in his vision. “I w-was…” Before Vegeta could even make an excuse, his father’s drunken gaze turned to his neck, which was exposed thanks to the grip on his jacket.
“So that’s what you’ve been doing? Whoring yourself around while you have an education to worry about and your father at home, worrying about you!” He shook his son as he said his words.
“No! I was talked into it! I know I have school to worry about, but you should worry more about yourself! You have any idea how fucking frightening it is to come home to a drunken father?” Vegeta defended as he gripped his father’s arms.
“Ha! Don’t give me that crap! You’re just making an excuse to whore around!” And with that he threw his distraught son into the solid wood table, successfully hitting his head.
Vegeta sat on the floor and groaned while he held his head to make the dizziness go away. Tears leaked from the corners of his eyes from the pain, but held back others that wanted to show. He knew that every hit he took, he deserved it. His dad started wobbly pacing around the kitchen again and continued his rampage. “I told you I want you home at a decent hour! You are to come home right after school! If you are to go elsewhere, you tell me!”
Vegeta couldn’t help but think his dad was worried about him, from all the strict rules he seems to keep making up everyday, but if that were true, then he’d stop drinking. ‘Hasn’t he found out yet that he’s a mean drunk?’ Vegeta swayed where he sat and gripped the table for support and carefully pulled himself up. His enraged father came up to his face then as Vegeta was backed into a wall. “No dinner! Do your homework and go to bed, you’re grounded!”
“What?!” Now Vegeta was enraged. “I’m grounded because I didn’t want to sleep here last night?! At least I’m not the one drinking myself to near death every God damn night!”
He was met with another fist to the face. “Don’t talk back to me! To your room, you little shit!” He grabbed his son’s shirt and pulled him toward the stairs, then let go. Giving his son a head start.
Vegeta stumbled slightly, but regained his footing as he quickly did what he was told. He ran up the stairs and to the bathroom, slamming the door and locking it. He immediately started to break down and slumped to the floor. He let loose a few tears, then stood up to look in the mirror and see what the damage was. His right eye was showing a light purple, but no swelling, yet. He’ll be lucky if his eye isn’t completely shut tomorrow. He sighed, trying to get a hold of his composure, then ran the water in the sink to put cold water on his face. He flinched at first, but kept putting water on it until it felt a little numb. He turned it off and dried his face, then unlocked the door and quietly went to his room.
He locked his bedroom door too, then made his way over to his window, which had a perfect view of the street. Vegeta pushed up his window, opening it, letting the cool night air in, then stared up at the stars. He smiled softly when he realized a full moon was out tonight. For some reason, the moon made him feel more content just staring at it’s beauty. The way it could be all by itself, yet still glow it’s comforting light, like everything is the way it should be. He then turned his attention to the mansion across the street and noticed none of the lights were on. ‘Oh, that’s right.’ Vegeta then looked quickly across the street as if he’d miss a moment of Kakarot’s return.
He looked at Kakarot’s bedroom first. Even though it was pitch black, the moon revealed what was inside, but still no Kakarot. ‘Where is he? If he wasn’t sick, then where did he go?’ He looked toward the kitchen and in the other bedroom. Still no Kakarot or his dad. ‘Maybe there was a death in the family? Or, maybe he had a doctor’s appointment? No, something like an appointment shouldn’t last all day.’ He continued to search through the rest of the rooms that he was able to see on this side and still no movement. Vegeta gave up then and just stared at the dark house. ‘What do they need a huge house like that for anyway? It’s only the two of them.’
“Are they home yet?” Sentaro poked his head out his bedroom window.
Vegeta jumped. “Shit, Sentaro!” He ran his hand through his hair then moved over to his other window to speak to his friend easier.
“Sorry, man. Hey, I heard the commotion. Did he clobber ya pretty good?” His friend asked more seriously.
Vegeta moved to rest his arm on the ledge and rested his face on his hand then flinched and moved to rest on the other arm. “He got in a few hits.” He answered casually.
Sentaro sighed and shook his head. “That son of a bitch. One of these days, he’s gonna get what’s coming to him.”
Vegeta sighed, getting sick of his friend being worried about him all the time. “Don’t worry about it, Sentaro. There’s nothing you can do.”
He stared at him for awhile and decided to drop it. “So, is anyone home?” He asked again, gesturing toward the empty mansion.
Vegeta looked in the direction and shook his head. “No sign of any life. Wonder where he went?” He asked more to himself.
“Ya know, if you keep peeping at him routinely like this, he’s bound to catch you.” His friend pointed out.
“So? You and Noaru told me I should confront him anyways.” Vegeta stared down the distance to the ground.
“Yeah, but you don’t need for him to get the impression that you’re stalking him. The last thing you want is to freak him out.”
Vegeta scoffed. “I basically am stalking him.”
Sentaro sighed. “Just don’t get caught.”
“He better show up Monday. If not, I’m going to do more stalking of my own.” Vegeta declared as he looked at the dark mansion once again.
“Like what?” His friend looked at him with surprise.
“Like…see if he’s home and if not then…I’ll do some snooping around.”
“Vegeta, no. This is your worst idea yet. You’ll get caught. People that do that al-ways get caught.” Sentaro said ‘always’ slowly to get his point across.
“I don’t expect you to get my intentions. I have to know more about him somehow…”
“Talking to him would be the safest way to go. Besides, what if you find something you wish you didn’t?”
“I won’t. Like I said, I’m basically in love with all of his odd traits.” Vegeta, once again, looked dreamily at his crush’s house.
Sentaro sighed, obviously not getting through to his love sick friend. “Let’s just hope he shows up Monday.” Vegeta nodded, half listening to his friend. “Alright, well…I’m going to bed. Wanna do something tomorrow to get you out of the house?”
Vegeta then turned his attention to him. “Sure, but I’ll have to ask my dad. I don’t want to get clobbered again.” ‘Let’s just hope his hangover with help him forget about the part where he grounded me.’
“Right. Later.” Sentaro closed his window at the short goodbye.
Vegeta nodded then turned his attention back to the still empty mansion. A movement caught his eye at the back of the place. He continued to look for any other movement, but when a few minutes went by, no other movement was found. He shrugged to himself and closed his window and went to bed.
Behind the enormous home, a dark animal watched as Vegeta closed his window. After a moment, it slipped through a hole in the back door.

Throughout this story, it might sound a little different later on because, like I said before, I’ve been writing it for a few years now and am still working on it. So ‘hopefully’ it’ll get better for everyone, if you already don’t find it that amusing. Also, I believe I spelled Broly in two different ways in this story…I’m sure of it. >.> But I’m not gonna change it, since I don’t really think it’s a big deal.
