(Slight suggestive themes ahead…)
Ed sat across a table from the two homunculus with his hands tied behind him. He didn’t have to be except Lust decided it was a safer option, besides the blond bombshell looked ready to use his alchemy the minute he was freed.
“Don’t give me that look, squirt.” Envy said when Ed glared at him. “I’m not saving you this time.”
“Like I was even going to ask you to…” he muttered, wiggling his wrists at another attempt to loosen the rope to no avail.
“Really, boy, you should be thanking us,” Lust said crossing her arms. “Or rather me, since it was my idea. You do remember what I told you about Father’s new plot didn’t you?” Ed made another ill attempt with his wrists before answering. “You were awful vague on the details, and if my being held hostage by the two of you is part of it then I have no reason to be so called thanking you.”
“Hardly, you’re being here is quite the opposite,” she responded. “Were keeping you safe here.”
“That doesn’t tell me anything.”
Envy sighed. “You want the truth little boy,” (twitch- twitch-don’tcallmesmall!) here it is, unless you like being treated like cattle your better off with us.”
Ed cocked an eyebrow. “What do you mean cattle?”
Envy grinned in a sadistic fashion as the words fell from his lips. “Basically you and the other state alchemists are nothing but little breeding animals now.”
It took Ed a few minutes to register what Envy said because of how ridiculous it sounded. Breeding animals? Was this some sort of sick joke that Lust played along with?
“Father is working with someone not even we know. Ultimately it’s because of this new person that this is happening, that’s all we know.” Lust ran her fingers through her hair. What would it take for the kid to understand that she and Envy were trying to help him? Well, she was anyway. It was pretty obvious Envy had some other motives in mind just the way he was occasionally glancing at Ed.
“So what’s the catch?” Ed said suddenly.
“Catch?” Lust replied. Envy suddenly perked up. “you really want a catch for all this?” She kicked him under the table. “No catch,” She implied with a sharp glower at the chameleon guy. “I just don’t think getting someone your age involved in what father has planned with this man is necessary.”
Ed hung his head and scoffed. “Pretty ironic, considering my joining the military technically meant I had no choice but to become an adult.” He looked up at Lust. “You said so yourself.”
Lust shook her head. “I did say that, but there are still some things I can’t abide by, this happens to be one of them, despite anything.” A moment passed before Ed heaved a sigh like he’d been holding his breath the whole time they’d been talking. “Sorry if I still say I can’t trust you, but so far you both seem legit.”
“Don’t get too soft around me, you and I still have a trade to settle.” Envy spoke up with a silky tone in his voice. Ed shot a detested look at Envy before hunching his shoulders. “Is there any chance this whole ordeal about keeping me safe from your father person and this guy also involves certain depraved numbskulls ?” Ed asked Lust with a hint of pleading.
“Well, I can’t quite promise that.” Ed blanched solid white. “I’ll just have to hide you somewhere where the said numbskulls can’t find you.”
“Don’t start talking like I’m another piece of furniture!” Envy snapped, standing up and hitting the table. “I have just as much involvement as you do, and I could go and easily tell father his only daughter lied to him.”
Lust giggled. “Do you really want to see your pet passed around like a communal whore back at home?”
Envy lowered his head like he was thinking really hard about it. “I swear if you say anything stupid…” Ed threatened lowly. “Or you’ll do what?” Envy said, sauntering over to Ed’s side and whispering in his ear closely. “Such big words for someone that’s all tied up at the moment.”
“Envy, sit back down.” Lust said. “We have to decide what were doing from here, don’t get him railed up.”
“Fine, whatever.” Envy flicked Ed’s flyaway before going back to his seat.

While the two homunculi argued Ed sat in his seat brooding.
If the father to the homunculus suddenly had bigger thoughts than what he originally intended to do then the man or whoever he was working with had to be someone much more powerful. Or more influential.
And to involve the State Alchemists in such a hair-brained ordeal…
Whatever the outcome it didn’t bode well for anyone in the military tied to alchemy.
If that were the case, then it was already possibly too late for the Colonel as well. Ed sighed. He might dislike the guy for many obvious reasons, but not even he would wish something so terrible on Roy.
And thank whatever was out there that Al wasn’t in the military. Alright so Al might not have had to worry about the whole “cattle” thing, but from the sounds of the mysterious man, Al might have been subjected to something worse.
Ed figured he might as well count his blessing while he had them, at least he wasn’t in any real danger other than the lewd remarks of Envy.
Suddenly there was a sharp rapping at the barn door, like a meaty fist was pounding on the other side.
“Lust, are you there? Lust I can smell the alchemist!” Said a soprano voice that was nearly child like and raspy.
“Lust you didn’t tell me Gluttony was involved in this…” Envy said looking at her in question like he was wondering if there was anything else she’d been hiding from him.
“He’s not suppose to be.” She muttered tapping herself on the forehead. “He must have followed Elric’s scent.” The doors were forcefully pushed open and Ed squinted his eyes as the room became bathed in sunlight. “Lust you’re here!” Gluttony said waddling up to her. “I thought I’d never find you.”
“Go away you lazy tub of lard,” Envy seethed. “Can’t you see were busy here, and if you so much as tell Father what you saw so help me I’ll-”
“I seen him, Lust!” Gluttony said quickly, shielding his head as if Envy already raised his fist.
“Seen who?” Lust asked him, her eyes regarding the roly-poly homunculus with interest in what he was saying. “The scary man, the one father was with, the one not from here-”
“What do you mean not from here?” She asked quickly. Ed watched as Gluttony tried to find the words to what he was trying to say, hoping it would shed some light on who was powerful enough to become personally allied with the homunculi’s creator.
“It was so bright,” He said. “The blue and green lights, he came out of it, like the big door.”
It was silent in the barn. What in the world was he talking about?
Until it hit Ed like a ton of bricks, and sending a fearing chill down his spine. Like the big door? Did that mean this man was from another place in the other side of the gate?
What the hell was going on?!

Riza Hawkeye paced the workroom back and forth from the desk Roy occupied to the filing cabinet and repeated this over and over, and all the while the others watched her skittishly as they did their respective jobs at their desks.
SLAM!
Havoc, Fuery, and Breda jumped and looked at Riza, the side of her fists flat on the top of Roy’s desk, indicating where the sudden noise had emerged from.
“Damnit where the hell is he!” She snapped, looking at the grandfather clock by the wall next to her. It was well past the time Roy should have been to work and there wasn’t even a call from him about being late.
“He was pretty sluggish when we talked on the phone,” Havoc said dangling a cigarette from his lips. “I’d say he’s got a case of hangover and can’t do anything.” Havoc chuckled as he imagined Roy all moaning and crying about a headache while on the floor out of reach of the beautiful auburn haired girlfriend he so inconsiderately stole.
“Hangover or not Mustang wouldn’t jeopardize his job by not calling in,” Breda pointed out. “True, although I wouldn’t put it past him to test Head Quarter’s patience with him every now and then.” Fuery added.
While the men talked on Riza stood silent with worry. Then the phone rang, plunging the room in silence.
Riza picked it up quickly. “Colonel Mustang’s office…Not coming in? For how long?”
The three men got up and tried to listen to the voice on the other line.
“…I see, I understand. No, thank you.” She hung up the phone.
No one spoke up for a few seconds then Fuery asked, “What did they say?”
Riza looked dejectedly at the floor as she spoke. “The Colonel is off on a top secret assignment, and someone is being sent here tomorrow as replacement until he returns to his post.”
“No way…” Havoc murmured, taking his unlit cig out of his mouth.
Suddenly Riza looked at the others with an angry slit in her eyes. “Who told you three to stop working?!”
They promptly went back to their seats quite blue in the face. Meanwhile Riza stormed to her small corner desk and organized a few papers Roy was suppose to finish two weeks ago, pretending that the fear in her heart was nothing more than a little irregular heartbeat.
Something about it all just didn’t feel right.
