Disclaimer: Of course I don't own Dragonball Z or any of its characters. Also I don't make any sort of profit from writing about it. |
WARNINGS: Language, hints of yaoi :/ (expect this in every chapter).
A/N: I just wanted to put in that…I was going to wait to post this when I was done with the story…but it’s taking too long and if I waited any longer I probably wouldn’t even of posted it and I can’t let a good story like this go to waste like that so…there you have it. :)
I might’ve mentioned this in the first chapter, but I can’t remember. O.o

Master?
Vegeta’s POV
“C’mon, Vegeta! Get up! C’mon, wake up! Get up! Get up!” I woke up to an annoying shouting and a bouncing movement on the bed.
I moaned and rolled over on my back, but winced when I remembered what happened to it. I looked above me to see an extremely excited boy jumping up and down on the bed that I was sound asleep on. ‘If only he were an alarm clock, he’d be in millions of tiny pieces by now.’ “Alright, I’m awake! You can cut it out now!” I struggled to sit up as I yelled at the happy child. My anger in being awoken so obnoxiously apparent. (A/N: I think I just made him make fun of himself. O.o *giggles* ^^).
“Yippee!” Was the eager response. He finally stopped jumping and plopped down next to me as he explained what the plans for today were going to be. “…as soon as we get there, I’ll see if he can train you! And we can all go to the tournament together! Then…”
As I struggled to get up and out of bed, sleep still fogging my mind, I stopped when the boy spoke of training. ‘Me? Being trained by someone?’ “Now hold on. Who says I have to have training? No one trains me!” I got right into the naïve child’s face and a hand pointed at myself when I finished.
He stopped. All eagerness gone. “But…how will you get strong?”
I growled. “Who says I have to have training to get into the tournament? I’m strong enough already! I could defeat everyone there! Unless you’re trying to tell me something…” I waited for a response, but I got a confused look in return. I growled. “Are you trying to say I’m too weak to get in, Kakarot?! If so, then let’s hear it!” My hands started tightening into fists as I waited for his answer.
It took him a minute to respond. “Woa! You’re really that powerful? Wow! I can’t wait to fight you!” He hopped off the bed. “Well, c’mon! Let’s go!” He ran outside.
I didn’t move. ‘It seems like he only picks up on parts of what I’m saying and not everything! He’s never going to grow up at this rate! Unless…I work my ass off in ‘educating’ him more. Why do I have to raise a child when I’m not even full grown yet?! This isn’t fair!’ I groaned at the stressful thoughts my mind had to conjure up so early in the day.
I got up to look for something clean to wear, when I stumbled a bit. I caught myself when I grabbed onto the sheets and steadied myself. I glared at my limp, bundled tail as I was suddenly reminded of my limited movement. I growled when Frieza’s hideous mug popped into my head. ‘That cold bastard.’ I shook my head. ‘No. Now’s not the time to think of that bastard. You’re free of him now. I just need to concentrate on finding something to wear. It shouldn’t be that difficult.’ I looked at the bloody shirt I had worn the day before that had somehow made it’s way on the floor next to the bed. ‘Something that isn’t bloody.’
As I searched on the floor for another shirt to wear, something orange caught my eye. I looked up to see an orange ball with four stars on it sitting on a little table in the tiny kitchen area. ‘How come I haven’t seen that before? What is it?’ Curiosity getting the best of me, I inched over to pick it up and get a closer look at it. “Hey!” Suddenly, the object of my curiosity disappeared from my grasp. I looked to my left to see the kid holding the ball closely to himself and a scowl on his face. I looked at him quizzically. ‘This must be the first time I’ve seen a look like that on that annoying face of his.’
“If you wanna hold Grandpa, you have to ask for permission first!” He held it even tighter as he explained some sort of nonsense to me.
“Hold…what now?” I looked at the ball, then back at the boy. ‘Surely he doesn’t believe…’
“I said, if you wanna hold Grandpa, you have to ask!” He got even closer to my face as he repeated his demand.
I looked at him with more of a blank face as I tried to make sense of what he was saying. “Oh, c’mon! Do you really believe that your grandfather is that ball?” I asked skeptically.
The scowl instantly disappeared from his childish face. “What?” He paused. Then smiled. “That’s silly! This is what my Grandpa gave me to remember him by! I just like to think that part of my Grandpa is in here. Ya know, like he’s with me.” He looked at the orange sphere like there was nothing else more important in the world.
I studied the ball. ‘Hm. Never thought of it like that.’ I looked at the boy as he held the ball higher, grabbing both of our attentions. “What is it?” I finally asked.
He turned to me as his arms swung with him, the ball never leaving his sight. “It’s a dragon ball! If you collect all seven of them, a huge dragon will come out and grant you any wish you want!”
“Wha-!” I looked at the starred sphere. ‘Never have I heard of anything so…! Wait a minute…’ I looked at the boy skeptically. “You can’t be serious.”
He took his sight off the ball and gasped as he looked at me. “You mean, you don’t believe me?” He paused as he waited for me to confirm my suspicions. ‘Why is he so surprised? Does he expect everyone to believe him?’ I shook my head. The shock vanished from his face and was, once again, replaced with excitement. “I know! I’ll show you once we gather all the dragon balls again!” He paused, as if a thought had suddenly occurred to him. “Hey, we should get going to Master Roshi’s! I wanna know how strong you are!” He beamed at me, then ran back outside as he tucked away his grandfather’s ball in a pouch tied to his waist.
I shook my head at the child’s random thoughts then proceeded to look for a shirt to wear. I headed outside as I donned a black shirt that was actually folded neatly in a drawer. I looked up once I saw a bowl filled with small little beans or something alike come into my line of vision. The boy smiled greatly at me as he held out the bowl and giggled a little. “Here, it’s breakfast.”
I looked hesitantly at the makeshift bowl, then finally took it. I slowly held it up to my nose as I wondered how edible these were. I sniffed them gently, like the aroma of them would seriously intoxicate my senses, but only a light, foreign scent came from them. “What are they?” I couldn’t help but ask.
The kid looked at me seriously, “they’re nuts.” He brightened up more. “They’re really good! And healthy for you too! They won’t really fill you up, but they should be good for now until we get to Master Roshi’s.” He finished with both of his hands behind his head.
I looked back and forth from the bowl to Kakarot. I nodded as he explained. I looked at the nuts. “So…how do I eat them? Do they have some kind of peel or shell? Or do I eat them how they are?” I looked at them questionably and carefully sniffed them again.
He giggled. “Well…some of them have a shell. Like these.” He reached in and grabbed one that looked the biggest of them all. “These are walnuts. You have to break the shell in order to eat the nut inside.” He used his index finger and thumb to crack the shell and it crumbled until there was nothing left but a weird looking brain-like…nut. “Here. Try it.” He smiled at me as he dropped the odd nut into my palm.
I looked at it for a minute until I shrugged and popped it into my mouth. I chewed it slowly as I savored the flavor. “Hm. It’s pretty good.”
“Oooo, try this one!” He reached in again to pick up an oval-shaped nut.
I was going to take it from him, but he pushed it toward my lips and waited for me to open them. I blushed slightly and looked at the nut, then hesitantly opened up and he dropped it in. I chewed this one slowly as well. Memorizing the taste, seeing if I liked it or not. “What’s this one called?”
“That one’s an almond. Those are probably the most healthy for you. There are other kinds of nuts, but you can’t find them out here. Maybe, someday, I can show you what they are.” He smiled brightly at me.
I nodded as I continued to eat the crunchy food. As soon as I finished, he called for that cloud of his and hopped on. I tried to follow his example, but my tail wouldn’t allow it and caused me to lose my balance. Just when I thought my face would meet the ground once again, I was stopped by a tail that was wrapped around my upper arm. I instantly blushed and looked up to the owner of said tail. He gave me a worried look, “Are you okay?”
My blush deepened as he asked the question. I looked away. “Of course I am! I just…lost my footing is all!” I glanced at my injured tail and silently cursed at it. I stood upright and gently yanked my arm out the tail’s grasp. So as to not injure it. Once again, I hesitantly hopped on the yellow cloud and rode the same way I did last time, by clinging onto his back for dear life. ‘The last thing I need is to fall on my tail.’ I tried making up an excuse to cling to the warmth that I’ve suddenly taken a liking to. ‘Though I’ll never admit that to any living soul.’
As we sped towards our destination, I kept myself entertained by looking at the scenery and taking notes on some peculiar things that I’ve either never seen before or found useful about the planet that I’ve now claimed as my temporary home. As soon as we passed all the greenery, we started heading across an ocean. We flew really low so the water rose and splashed on either side of us when we rushed right above the surface. I looked at the water curiously. ‘Strange. The water is as blue as the sky. Wonder why that is?’ Science has been a strong subject of mine, always wondering how everything works, but sadly, I know nothing of anatomy. ‘The most important subject.’ I mentally kicked myself.
“Look! There it is!” I was suddenly brought out of my musings and looked up to see Kakarot pointing at our destination. A little pink house on an incredibly small island. ‘If that’s even considered an island.’
We came to an abrupt stop and nothing could prepare me as Kakarot immediately jumped out of my grasp while I landed on my wounded tail. “Ahhh!” I tried not to move as I gently rubbed my poor tail. ‘Damn it! I should’ve held onto him tighter!’
My surprised yelp got a few pair of eyes to stare at me. “Hey, Vegeta…you okay?” I looked up to see the reason for my pain standing before me.
I growled and stood on my feet. “Next time, tell me when you do something like that!”
He glanced at my tail, as I still rubbed it with one hand, then he brought one of his hands behind his head and that huge annoying smile of his grew on his face. “Sorry, Vegeta! I forgot about your tail!” He stopped and turned his back to me. “Hey, Master Roshi! Do you have a senzu bean? My friend Vegeta here needs one.” He pointed to me as soon as he mentioned me.
I stared at the Master I’ve heard so much about. An old man with a cane and a…purple turtle shell on his back…? ‘Why the hell is it purple? And why the hell does he have a shell?’ I stared at the Master with a look of puzzlement. ‘Strange.’ The old man looked at me for a minute…at least, I think he did. He has sunglasses on. “Hm. Come to think of it, I might have one lying around somewhere when you were here last Goku. Hang on and I’ll check.” ‘Goku. That was his human name. Pft. Why’d they name him that?’
I watched the Master as he took his time going into his house to look for the healing bean. ‘I can’t believe he expected me to get training from an old geezer like that!’ I snorted. As soon as the old man went inside the small house, Kakarot turned to me excitedly. “This is great! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see how strong you are Vegeta!” He beamed at me. Excitement seeping into every pore in his body as he shook with it.
I smirked. ‘He definitely has some Saiyan genes left in him.’ I thought with pride. “Well, I can show you just how powerful I am as soon as I get healed.” I stood straight and puffed my chest out a little.
His eyes seemed to have gotten bigger, if that was possible, the moment I mentioned about fighting each other. ‘Hn. Let’s see how strong this low level really is.’ I thought with sarcasm. As if right on time, the old man finally came out with a bean in hand. “Just as I thought. Here ya go. The last one.” He handed it to Kakarot and he reached for it excitedly then bounced over to me and handed it over. I studied the bean for a moment, then popped it in my mouth and quickly chewed and swallowed. ‘Ugh. Why does it taste like fish?’ That thought was quickly pushed aside as I felt my pain quickly ebb away and my bones mended together. I looked at my tail and decided to test it. I gently moved it up and down, then slowly swung it once, then again but quicker and nothing shot up my spine. A smirk graced my features as I reached back to unravel the bandages.
“Oh! Master Roshi! This is my new friend Vegeta! I found him!” I rolled my eyes. ‘He’s making me sound like I was a lost animal and now he’s adopted me as a pet.’ I paused and blushed slightly at the thought.
The old man seemed to be studying me with great interest. “Is that so? And where exactly did you find him?” The old Master started rubbing his chin as he looked at me like I was some sort of interesting artifact.
“In the woods.” The child excitedly answered back.
I crossed my arms as I waited for the geezer to stop looking at me. ‘I swear, if he doesn’t stop, I’m going to burn his eyeballs right out of their sockets! And there’s no way those sunglasses of his will protect them.’ I growled and swished my tail. The action seemed to have caught both the old man’s and Kakarot’s attention. “Hey! You’re all better now! Wanna spar?” The clown asked with even more excitement.
I nodded. “I rather fight where there’s more space. Unless the old man doesn’t mind having his house in ruin.” I smirked deviously.
The old man lowered his head a little. Kakarot calmed somewhat and looked around, what looked like to be the first time since we got here. “Oh yeah. I guess you’re right.” He suddenly beamed. “Okay! We’ll find a place! We’ll be back Master Roshi!” He waved at the old man and hopped back on the yellow cloud, which for some reason never left.
I smirked again. ‘Glad I don’t have to ride that silly thing now.’ I slowly eased myself into the air and watched Kakarot’s face as his grin quickly turned into shock. I tried to keep myself from chuckling at the startled look. “Wow! You can fly?! How can you do that?? Can you teach me?” He stood on his cloud. Amazement and excitement getting the better of him.
I let my smirk widen, letting it show my Saiyan canines. I pretended to ponder on it. “Hm. Maybe someday. If I feel gracious enough.”
“Oh please, Vegeta! Will you? Please?” He almost looked like he wanted to tackle me in desperation to learn. ‘Hm. Like that’ll get me to do what he wants.’
My smirk disappeared. “Oh, I’ll think about it.” I looked to the side as he celebrated.
“Yay!” He jumped up and down on his cloud. I looked at the yellow fluff he was standing on. ‘Yeah. He’s definitely pure of heart.’
I snapped out of my reverie. “Alright. Let’s go. If you still want to spar, that is.” I floated down next to him with my arms crossed.
He stopped. “Oh yeah! Let’s go!” He took off toward our unknown destination and I followed after him.
Master Roshi watched as the two young boys took off into the mid-morning sky. ‘Hm. That definitely isn’t a coincidence. I knew Goku was no ordinary child. Now there’s another young lad that also has a tail. Same as Goku.’ He looked at the ground in thought. ‘Hm, maybe I can question the other boy on where he came from. Or I can go to Baba about this. Wonder if she’d know anything about it.’ The old turtle hermit looked back up at the sky, then sweat dropped. ‘I think I’ll take my chances with Baba.’ He turned toward his house and went back inside. ‘But, I’ll do that some other time. Right now, my show’s about to come on.’ A hentai laugh followed the thought.

‘I can’t believe this kid! I thought for sure I was going to win! Especially when I saw him take his first stance! He was completely defenseless on all sides! Now I’m having a hell of a time keeping up with this clown!’ My thoughts were interrupted again as I blocked another attack. My arms shook at the sheer force of the kick that was meant for my head. ‘What was I thinking?! Training this brat to fly…and to think I was generous enough to actually think about ‘educating’ the child! Though, that still seems necessary…he needs to get wiser, not stronger! How is this even possible?! My brain can’t even comprehend this! To think that there’s a Saiyan who’s almost as strong as me! Now wait…what am I thinking? The shock of this kid’s power is putting me off guard. I need a brutal counterattack so this third class knows who he’s messing with.’ I powered up slightly to throw him off guard then quickly counterattacked and showed no mercy.
I ended up elbowing my opponent in the back of the neck, then got behind him and kicked him toward a plateau. I landed back on both feet with a groan and looked at my surroundings, a moment that I didn’t get before when we first landed here. ‘Why did he choose this place? A rocky, barren wasteland and not a single bit of life in sight. We’ve only been at it for a couple of hours and I feel like I’m dehydrating of thirst. Just staring at this place makes my throat dry.’ I looked over at my opponent and noticed that he hasn’t gotten up. I strutted over, keeping up my composure, to the pile of rocks and stood in front of it. ‘I’m not about to start digging for him.’ I waited for a minute when finally there was movement and my opponent crawled out of the ‘debris.’
As soon as he was free, he held onto his stomach with his tongue hanging out and had the most odd expression plastered on that goofy face of his. This caught my interest. “Hey, Vegeta…can we take a break now?” I looked at him wearily.
“What’s this? Giving up are we?” I tried taunting him. Even though my body was also in desperate need of a break from the horrible sun.
“No, it’s not that…” I waited. “I’m starving!” He whined dryly.
I fell over. “You’ve got to be kidding me! We need a break because your stomach demands it?! Honestly, Kakarot! You shouldn’t let your body take control of you!”
“But, Vegeta!” He whined. “I haven’t eaten since this morning! And I didn’t even eat that much! I completely forgot that I was going to get something at Master Roshi’s. Aren’t you hungry? You ate less than I did today!”
I glared at the child. I had to admit, I was starving. I haven’t exactly eaten that much since I’ve been conscious on this planet. And all this intense sparring is depleting what little energy I have. I put my hands on my hips. “Alright, fine! If you’re absolutely dying of hunger, then I guess we can afford to put off our spar until another time.”
“Okay. I’ll go and get the Nimbus.” He slowly walked off, his expression never changed.
‘Odd. No excited reaction or nothing. He must be overreacting. I’ve never seen anyone act so…starved?’ I tried looking for the right word for my Saiyan companion. “C’mon, Vegeta. I don’t know how much longer I can last.” My attention turned back to my starved companion then took off toward the little island on the ocean.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Ohhhh, yeah! Work it!” Mischievous laughs and grins escaped from the old turtle hermit as he drooled at his little TV set. He was so into his program, he actually started doing some of the actions that were being done on the show.
“…and 1, 2, 3, 4...and 1, 2...” A pretty girl on some workout program continued as Master Roshi counted along with her and stared at her movements with hentai thoughts going through his mind. Little did he know, that he was being watched by two young boys. One with a curious look on his face, the other with a scowl on his face and growled in annoyance. ‘Perverted old man.’
“Uh…hey, Master? We’re hungry.” Kakarot innocently made our presence known.
However, the turtle hermit didn’t hear his pupil as he continued to drool and hypnotically chant to himself of how beautiful the girl was as she showed everyone how she worked out. “Master?” Kakarot continued to get his Master’s attention the nicer way.
When we still didn’t get a response, I finally spoke up, “Old man! We’re starving!” I went over and kicked the table that was next to the pervert and it flew on top of him.
“Oh! Come now baby, don’t be like that…” The old Master muttered as he was a little disoriented from being knocked on the head by a hungry Saiyan Prince. However, he quickly recovered and brought himself up from underneath the table. “What was that for?! You know that’s not the best way to get training from me!”
I looked down with my eyes closed and hands on my hips as I explained myself. “Who says I want training from a perverted idiot like you!” I looked up at him. “Now! We’re hungry! What do you have?” I demanded as my body could no longer be denied of what it needed.
The old Master rubbed his head and grumbled. “I don’t know. Why don’t you go look in the kitchen where all the food is.” He answered with some sarcasm and pointed to the small kitchen area.
I looked at the small room and growled. “Then why don’t you make yourself useful and make us something to eat!” I took a few intimidating steps closer. I wasn’t about to cook for anyone!
The old man grumbled. “Why you little…” I growled. “Alright fine, but just this once.” He got up and went into the small kitchen. Still grumbling.
As Kakarot and I made ourselves comfortable, I shouted as an after thought. “And it better be edible!”
“Alright, alright!” The Master carelessly answered back as he searched for something to cook, or cook with.
As we sat for a little while, Kakarot was looking around. “Hey, Master? Where’s Krillin?”
The old man pondered. “Hm. I believe he went to train somewhere else for a while. He’ll be back though.” He groaned as he bent over to get something in the cupboard. “Let’s see…”
“Oh.” Kakarot answered with understanding, but disappointment. I ignored it. “Oh! I almost forgot!” I jumped slightly as Kakarot, once again, loudly exclaimed his thoughts and hopped off the couch we’re sitting on. He came back with something carefully held in both of his hands. “Here’s the other dragon ball I was telling you about!” He held it out with one hand towards me and I hesitantly examined it, like he was about to throw it at my face or something.
Sure enough, it was another orange sphere similar to his except it had two stars on it. ‘Hm. I wonder…if I could use these to my advantage.’ I tried hiding my smirk as I developed a clever plan to use them. ‘Maybe, I can wish to be stronger…so I can kill that wretched bastard! Or better yet…I can wish for…immortality. Yes…immortality. That’s the only way! If I wished myself to be stronger, I wouldn’t know how much stronger, since Frieza seems to be infinitely more powerful than any other being I’ve seen. Yes. Immortality is the way to go.’ I believe I let my smirk make itself known as I got carried away with my thoughts. “Hey, watchya smiling about Vegeta?” Kakarot naively voiced his thoughts with a grin of his own.
I looked away in hopes of hiding a blush that was also making itself known. ‘Damn it.’ I turned my attention elsewhere. “Hey old man! Is that food ready yet?!” I barked out my frustration at the old man instead of the innocent brat beside me.
“Oh, c’mon! I’m not that fast! Be grateful I’m even cooking for you!” Was the answer. “Dang it. Where’s Launch when you need her…” The old man grumbled as an after thought.
I ignored him and turned my attention to the TV in front of me. Suddenly the door slammed open and a voice shouted, “Master Roshi! I’m baaaaack!” I turned my full attention at the door as a bald headed midget scrambled in.
“Hey Krillin!” Kakarot immediately ran over to the midget with that idiotic smile on his face as he and cue ball joined hands and bounced around. I rolled my eyes and sighed, my stomach growling for the attention it needs. “Oh, Krillin! This is Vegeta! I found him in the woods!” The innocent Sayian pointed at me and looked to his friend to see his reaction towards me.
I groaned. ‘He sounds like he’s proud of finding me or something.’ I blushed at the thought. “You…found him in the woods?” The midget known as Krillin questioned. ‘Hm. I remember Kakarot mentioning him before…’
“Yep! He’s really strong! He’s going to train with us so he can be in the tournament too! Isn’t it great?” Kakarot put all his weight on his tail and bounced on it as he laughed, obviously giddy with this knowledge.
I grunted and turned my attention to the bald headed midget, who, for some reason, can’t stop staring at me. It was then I noticed he has all his attention on my tail, which is wrapped around my waist in a safe manner…unlike the annoying brat over there. I growled at the little cue ball to get his prying eyes away from me. He jumped and stuttered. “S-So, uh…where’s Master Roshi?” He looked around nervously, as if he actually couldn’t see the old man bustling about in the kitchen.
“Oh, he’s in there making us something to eat!” Kakarot pointed towards the kitchen and Krillin followed it.
“Oh, hey Master! You’ll never guess where I’ve been!” The little cue ball ran toward the old Master and continued to ramble his ear off as I tried my hardest to ignore it.
Kakarot jumped back on the couch next me and I flinched then growled at him for startling me. ‘Clown.’ He ignored my irritation and began moving his tail back and forth as he stared at the TV again. The fluffy, soft appendage lightly tapping my arm as it swayed back and forth…back and forth…I shook my head and mentally kicked myself for again getting hypnotized by his joyful tail. ‘No control whatsoever.’ “Do you mind controlling that?” I growled out as I shot a glare at the annoying appendage.
It stopped and he looked at me. “Hm? What do you mean?” The look he was giving me truly shocked me. He can’t be serious.
“Can’t you keep it still? Here, look at my tail, you don’t see it waving back and forth constantly, do you?” I pointed to my tail for emphasis and he stared at it for a moment.
“No-”
“Exactly. That’s because I wrap it around my waist like so.” I unwrapped it from my waist then wrapped it again to prove a point. “You need to learn to control your tail, it’s very important that you do.” I looked back at him to see if I was getting to him.
The simple Saiyan looked at me, then back at my tail…then back again. As he did this, his tail, once again, continued to sway. “See, there you go again.” I waved my hand toward it in annoyance.
He looked back at it as it moved. “I can’t help it. It has a mind of it’s own.” He giggled.
I sighed in frustration. “No it doesn’t. That’s ridiculous. Your mind is the one controlling it. You just need to concentrate more on how you’re…” I stopped as a thought hit me. ‘Maybe, that part of his brain doesn’t really have any control over all of his appendages. Maybe…it’s because of his amnesia?’ I studied him as I tried to think of an explanation to this. ‘Tch. How would I know? I don’t know anything on the subject anyways. But still…it’s worth looking into.
“I need to concentrate on what?” Kakarot asked with a puzzled look on his face.
I dropped my musings and turned my attention to him. “We should train you to control it. It’s obvious that you’re having troubles controlling yourself at times. ‘It’s not just his tail.’
“Oh, ok. I didn’t know you could do that.” He smiled.
I rolled my eyes. “Of course you can. Any part of your body can be trained if you work at it.”
“Right.” His smile broadened and again I blushed at my double meaning. ‘Damn it.’
“Hey! Dinner’s ready!” The old Master shouted.
“Yay!”
“It’s about time.”
Kakarot ran into the small room to retrieve his food while I trudged in irritation in having to wait.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After dinner, we all decided to retire for the evening. After all, it has been a tiring day. “Wow, Vegeta! You eat as much as I do! You must’ve been really hungry today to eat that much!” He laughed in fascination as we headed upstairs.
I scowled slightly at ‘his’ double meaning. ‘Eh, no reason to get worked up over it. I know what he means.’ “So, Goku, where’s Vegeta going to sleep? You know I don’t have much room. He’ll have to share with someone.” The old hermit made our sleeping problem known.
“Oh, he’s sleeping with me! Since that’s how it’s been since I found him!” He giggled then took off into a room to get situated while I stood there in utter shock.
“Like I had a choice! You refused to sleep anywhere else!” I growled back at his retreating form as his Master gave me an odd look…I think he did. ‘Is there any reason why he has those sunglasses on constantly? Do his eyes have a sensitivity to light? Or does he think he looks good in them? Either way, they irritate me. How can I tell he’s giving me odd looks through them?’ I growled. ‘He better watch it.’
“C’mon, Vegeta! In here! In here!” I looked back at Kakarot as he waved me over. Who does he think I am?
I growled then crossed my arms and strutted over towards him in the room at the end of the little hallway. He had laid out a large futon, big enough to fit three adults in, three pillows, and two blankets. Then my eyes moved over to the movement of Kakarot getting undressed…“Kakarot! For crying out loud! Haven’t we been over this?!” I shielded my eyes instantly as he moved to take his pants off.
“What?” He asked stupidly. “Oh, that’s right. You get shy whenever someone takes they’re clothes off, don’t ya?” I could hear the smile in his voice.
“I don’t get shy! It’s just…awkward. You shouldn’t sleep naked with someone you barely know!” I continued to shield my eyes and took a step back as I heard him come closer.
“But I know you Vegeta. See? I know you’re name.” He continued getting closer as I backed away. “And I know that you’re a Saiyan Prince. You’re also rude, loud, very strong, and you still have a lot to learn about this planet.” My back hit a wall and I turned my head. ‘Where did that come from? He doesn’t seem to be as naïve as I originally thought. Fool. He talks really smart for a third class. He better watch what he says to his Prince. Oh my…he’s breathing in my ear…’
I quickly uncovered my eyes in panic as my breathing got more labored as the seemingly innocent boy’s face got closer. I turned my slightly horrified gaze toward him as his nude body was practically up against my clothed being. “So, I can sleep comfortably with you, Vegeta. You and I are friends now, right?” He smiled with half-lidded eyes.
I willed my blush to go away so I can defend myself. “Doesn’t mean that I’m comfortable with it! It wouldn’t kill you to just wear your pants!” I slid sideways against the wall to put more distance between us.
That innocent look was back on his face. “But it’s more comfortable this way. Besides, we’ve already slept like this.”
“That’s because I didn’t have a choice!” I all but yelled the truth at him. In a panic, I blurted my next move. “That’s it! I’m sleeping downstairs!” As I walked quickly towards the door, the child had the audacity to stop me.
“Why?” I turned slowly towards my naïve companion and saw that clueless look on his innocent face. ‘You can’t be serious…’
I growled and ignored his question. “I’ll sleep with you again when you dress properly!” I blushed furiously as I replayed what I just said in my head, then quickly turned around to hide another blush. I stood for a moment for a response to my embarrassing outburst, but when I got none, I proceeded down the stairs.
As I got down there, the old Master was sitting on the place I was planning on spending the night...in the dark. I scowled in annoyance, wanting to be alone for the time being. “Couldn’t sleep?”
My scowl deepened. “Something like that.” I crossed my arms as my tail showed my emotions. I’m so glad that my furry appendage is okay.
The old guy smiled at me then patted the seat next to him. I waited a moment, contemplating his silent invitation, then took my time coming over to accept it. I hopped up on the comfy cushion and grunted at how short I was, then stared ahead of me at the glowing box. I noticed that it was a different program than what the old man was watching earlier. Something about mushy sentimental garbage…‘How can he watch this?’ I cross my arms again except in boredom.
“So, where are you from?” The hermit asked as soon as I made myself comfortable.
I glanced at him, actually considering answering his question. I looked at the screen again. “Far away.” I don’t know what he’d think if I was from a different planet. It’s best not to say much for now.
“Hm…” The old man rubbed his beard in thought, “haven’t heard of that place before.” I gave him an incredulous look. “Hehe. See it was supposed to be a joke.” He gave me a goofy grin, which could easily be taken for a perverted grin. I scrutinized him and turned my attention back to the stupid program. “Hm, talk about no sense of humor.” He mumbled. I sighed in irritation and boredom and sagged more into the sofa. ‘When’s he going to bed? I just want this day to be over.’ “What brought you here then?” ‘Damn it. He just won’t leave me alone.’
I sighed again as I decided to answer his nosy questions. “Just passing through.” I answer simply.
“Oh, so you’re traveling around, huh? Are you doing it for fighting sake? Or for the adventurous thrill of it?”
I thought for a moment. “Both.”
“I see.” He rubbed his beard again. ‘Please let that be it.’ “So…” ‘Damn.’ “Do you see Goku as one of your goals?” He looked at me then. ‘Damn those shades. I should take them when he’s sleeping.’
Considering his question, I couldn’t help but think that Kakarot pertains to be both adventurously thrilling and a good opponent. But there’s no way I’m going to say that out loud. “No.” I answer curtly.
“Oh. Then, why are you here?” He asks again.
‘Shit.’ I think for a moment. “Like I said, I’m passing through.”
“Mhm, but from what Goku tells me, you’ve been with him for a few days now.” He moves his face a bit closer as he considers my lies.
‘Crap.’ “I was injured.” I look away from his dark lenses.
“I see. And how did you injure yourself? By fighting a previously strong opponent perhaps?” His brows scrunched as he waited for my answer.
“Of course.” I turned away from him to keep him from looking at my face, in case it gave anything away. ‘Though, that is true. It took a blow to my pride, but at this point it’s worth it to get the old bastard to shut his trap. ‘I am so taking his dark specs for this.’
“Mhm.” He continued to stare.
I coughed then decided to end this. “Do you mind?! I was hoping to sleep better down here than with that annoying clown!” I got into his face then as I finally voiced my annoyance.
He immediately backed off with his hands in front of him. ‘As if that’ll protect him.’ “Okay! Sheesh! You don’t have to yell! I’m off already!” The hermit scrambled from the couch to the stairs. Then coughed and calmly went up the stairs. ‘Strange old coot.’
I looked around me for a blanket and a pillow. Finding two pillows beside me, I decided not to search too much for a blanket then situated the pillows and laid down on them. I glared at the program on the box and decided to switch sides, facing the sofa. ‘I’d turn it off if I knew how and the only other way would be to blast the annoying thing, but I’m a guest here and I should start acting like one.’ I sighed as I tried tuning out the noise and shivered slightly in the dark. ‘I almost regret not sleeping with Kakarot tonight…what am I saying?! That little brat should learn some manners! Oh I forgot, I’m supposed to be teaching him those.’ I turned my head to bury it in the pillows. ‘Why do I feel the need to take responsibility for him? He’s managed this far without me. Besides, he has his perverted old Master…yeah I think I’m better off teaching him.’ I turn my head to the side again for air and tried clearing my thoughts for sleep.
What seemed like an hour or so, sleep finally claimed me…and this time, without Kakarot’s abnormal sleeping habits.
