‘thoughts’
~~~flashback~~~
Vegeta still hasn’t asked Kakarot to be his tutor. Here it was Friday, a week has gone by and he still hasn’t gathered the courage to ask him. ‘I’m pathetic. I’ll never know what he says if I don’t ask. I mean, it’s just with homework. It’s not like I’m asking him out on a date or anything.’ He tried comforting himself as he gathered the courage to confront the teen. ‘If I don’t do it soon, someone else is going to snatch him away.’ He growled as he replayed the event that happened a few days ago.
~~~Vegeta was heading to his locker in between classes, when he saw Kakarot talking to a girl with dark hair. He suddenly realized it was Chichi. He immediately drew his attention to them, shock evident on his face. ‘What the hell does that woman think she’s doing?’ He watched the scene unfold as Chichi spoke to ‘his’ crush. He looked at Kakarot and noticed the teen had a disappointed look on his face. ‘What’s going on?’ Vegeta decided to get a little closer as he maneuvered his way through people and stopped a few lockers away.
“I don’t get it. You never talk to anyone, you don’t even bother getting close to anyone… What is your deal? Do you enjoy hurting a girl’s feelings?” Chichi’s face became sorrowful as it looked like she was about to cry. She took a deep breath and exhaled, determined to try again. “Please…won’t you go out with me?” She asked again, but more softly.
Vegeta sneered. ‘Don’t you do it, Kakarot. The bitch doesn’t have anything you want. Don’t let her fool you.’ Vegeta took a step toward them, determined to go forth and make the decision for him if he didn’t make the right one…even if he lacked the capacity to just talk to the guy.
The disappointed look still graced the beautiful teen’s features. He reached a hand up and rubbed the back of his neck. “I-I’m sorry. I just…don’t want a relationship right now.” He moved his glance from the girl as she began to cry and turned to quickly make it to his next class.
Vegeta almost shouted his relief at Kakarot’s answer. ‘Yes! Take that you harpy! You just got rejected by the hottest guy in school!’ He almost felt like sticking his tongue out at her as she huffed in her spot and strutted away.~~~
‘I’m never going to let something like that happen again. If I’m going to ask, it better be soon.’ Vegeta stood off to the side, away from the crowd as he stared at the being of his desire. Everyone was at the Oktoberfest and yes…Vegeta decided to come, but only in the evening. He didn’t want to sit through the whole day watching a parade. Somehow, he had a feeling Kakarot was going to be here. They had the day off since it was the Oktoberfest.
The bruises on Vegeta’s face have lightened considerably, but they’re still noticeable. He’s been wearing his shades all week, so as to not cause any suspicion. However, it was worth it when the teachers would get after him about wearing them in class. His excuse was, he saw a glare on the marker boards at the front of the class from the florescent lights. So, he figured if he wore shades, he wouldn’t see it. A couple teachers decided to let it go, but others sent him to the principal’s office for being stubborn.
‘I should ask him now! He’s all by himself. C’mon Vegeta. You can do it. Just walk over there…and ask.’ Vegeta swallowed, then hesitantly started heading that way before he was stopped by a figure in front of him. Vegeta looked up and growled inwardly. ‘Damn it.’ “Hey, Vegeta. Are you having a good time?” A devilish grin made its way on that ugly mug.
Vegeta shivered. Always getting the same reaction from seeing the man. He looked around himself and noticed that the creeps’ friends were circled around him. ‘Damn it, Sentaro. So much for ‘be back in a minute.’’ Vegeta decided to go with Sentaro, since Noaru thought he didn’t fit in in events like this. Sentaro went to go get them some drinks, but that was thirty minutes ago. Meanwhile, Vegeta was keeping himself busy by studying the beautiful stranger several feet in front of him. So far, he hasn’t taken a sip of alcohol. So, that relieved Vegeta a lot. Considering that the guy was standing right in front of the table that held a variety of alcoholic beverages. Of course you had to pay for them. He didn’t know how he lost Sentaro. He was staring in that general direction the whole time. Must’ve seen his own crush and went to talk to him. He’s so brave.
Back to the task at hand, he was gathering the courage to go up to his crush and ask the ‘question,’ but now, that doesn’t seem possible. “I’m having a blast.” He answered sarcastically and looked around. “Where’s your brother? I’d figure he wouldn’t miss an event like this.” He crossed his arms.
Paragus shrugged. “Who knows? Why? Miss him already?” He leaned forward.
“Of course not.” Vegeta scrutinized the guy in front of him. “What brings you into my personal space, anyway?” Vegeta asked in an annoyed tone.
“Oh, well…I was wondering if you wanted to dance.” Paragus kept that grin plastered on his face.
‘Ugh. Why do I get the feeling that this is a trap?’ Vegeta stared at his ex’s older brother for a moment, contemplating. “I don’t dance.” He scowled. Hoping the big idiot will get the message and leave, but that’s not like the guy.
“Ah, but it’s never too late to learn.” He moved forward and caught the lithe male around the waist.
Vegeta froze as Paragus’ friends stayed circled around him, chuckling. At first, Vegeta wondered why, but eventually, he caught on and started to panic. “You’re…not asking me to dance…are you?” He settled his hands on the big arms that surrounded him, getting ready to run for it.
Paragus leaned in close to whisper in his ear, but said it loud enough for his buddies to hear. “You catch on quickly, don’t you?” He chuckled when Vegeta started to struggle.
The friends chuckled as well, then came closer and Vegeta did the thing that he never thought he’d do to another male…he kneed him in the nuts. Paragus let out a howl and let go of his prize to cradle his wounded appendage. Vegeta pushed passed the friends, who were stunned at the move, and took off running down a little dirt trail that led down the edge of town. After the friends recovered, they quickly took off after him. A moment later, Paragus recovered and followed his friends. While Vegeta was running, he realized that this was the wrong direction to run when in danger. When he looked behind him, he saw Paragus pass his friends with a pissed off look on his ugly mug. He then wondered if kicking Paragus was a bad move.
He tried running faster down the deserted road, but suddenly tripped as Paragus swept his legs out from under him. That’s what he gets for trying to outrun a track runner. Vegeta landed hard, but quickly recovered and tried to get up again. He was then grabbed around his waist and was slung over the giant’s shoulder. Vegeta yelped and pounded his back and kneed him in the chest. He tried every tactic he could think of in this position, but the guy was a brick wall. ‘Damn it. Why the hell didn’t I run in the crowd? Just running in the wrong direction got me caught!’ “Paragus! Put me down this instant!” When the giant didn’t reply, he tried again. “You asshole! Let me go! Ah!” He was tossed onto a wooden picnic table that sat on the side of the trail. They were a little ways from the crowd, but they were still in view.
The friends stopped to catch their breath then caught up with their ring leader as he pinned down the smaller male. Vegeta tried fighting him again, but stopped when a knife came into view. The blade glinted in the light of the crescent moon and Vegeta couldn’t help but scramble back a little from the sharp object. Paragus grabbed him by his shirt and proceeded to cut it off. Vegeta started to struggle again, but Paragus’ big friends came over and pinned his arms to the table. “No!” He attempted to kick the giant away from him, but screamed when the blade slid across his chest.
Paragus grabbed him by his hair and held the knife up to his face as Vegeta stopped his movement and tried blocking out the stinging of the pain. Paragus stared down at the lithe male, both breathing heavily from the chase. “Now…if you don’t settle down, I might accidentally cut you again.” The fierce look that he gave Vegeta told him that that wouldn’t be an accident. Vegeta whimpered and didn’t dare move as the knife slowly finished its job in cutting away his shirt, then went for the pants next. “Mm, it’s going to feel so good plunging into you. Maybe your warmth will soothe the pain that you caused earlier.” Paragus’ moan turned into a sneer as he cut away his belt.
Vegeta hollered in surprise when he heard a tear and breathed heavily in panic. Suddenly, his attacker was hit from behind and fell to the ground. Vegeta looked up in confusion to see who it was, but wasn’t given the chance as the men holding him down let him go to deal with the intruder. Vegeta quickly sat up to watch the fight more closely, but leaned to one side as one of them flew by him and hit a tree. Vegeta looked on in shock and wondered who this person was to possess so much strength. He noticed that they had exquisite muscles, so he knew it was a male.
His studying was put to a pause as he saw that Paragus shakily got back up to deal with the one who hit him on the head. The figure saw him coming with the knife and kicked his arm, making him let go of the sharp object. Paragus howled and Vegeta cringed as the sound of a bone snapping echoed around them. The other two friends tried tackling the figure, but he dodged one of them, causing them to run into the table Vegeta was on. The kid was knocked unconscious. Suddenly, Vegeta didn’t feel safe on the table anymore. He got off and hid behind a tree a few feet away.
As he focused back on the fight, he was just in time to see his savior beat the crap out of one of the friends and watched him hurl the guy towards the tree he threw the first one in. Instead of hitting the tree though, he landed on the ground. ‘Three down. One to go.’ Vegeta thought as he watched Paragus draw his attention away from his arm and to the stranger. Paragus threw an angry punch as he yelled out his frustration and expected to make impact. The figure dodged and punched Paragus in the face, then in the stomach at a surprisingly fast speed. His savior finally knocked him out when he kneed him in the head and sent the giant spiraling to the ground, unmoving. The figure stood for a moment to catch his breath as Vegeta slowly showed himself from his hiding place, making sure it was over. He leaned against the tree, not sure if he should show himself to this person or not. He was actually wondering if he should’ve made his escape already.
But once he made his presence known, the figure turned to him and slowly made his way over. Vegeta pressed himself against the tree, in a small panic, not sure what was going to happen next. The figure stopped a couple feet away and spoke in a gentle voice. “Are you alright?”
Vegeta tried squinting into the darkness to get a closer look at his savior, but the man refused to show himself in the moonlight. ‘I know that voice.’ “Who are you?” He ignored the man’s question and decided to ask the one that was really important to him.
The figure hesitated, but took a few more steps toward him and into the dull moonlight. Vegeta gasped when he recognized him. “I’m Kakarot.” He smiled softly and slowly held out his hand, so not to scare the already distraught smaller male.
“Kakarot?!” Vegeta couldn’t believe the man he had feelings for saved him! ‘That’s like, everyone’s dream come true!’ Suddenly, Vegeta couldn’t get enough air into his lungs as his vision left him.
Kakarot quickly came forward to catch the lithe male before he hit the ground. “Nice to meet you.” He said quietly to the unconscious body in his arms as a concerned look appeared on his face. He pulled him close against himself, then lifted him up and decided to carry him back to his house. Since his place was closer and the hospital was on the other side of town and Kakarot didn’t know what all was wrong with the small figure in his arms. He could either be injured or went into shock…or both. His father was also a doctor, so that was a bonus and the man should be home since he refused to go to the event this evening, claiming he had other things to do.

As soon as Kakarot made it home, his father came to greet him and wondered why his son was home so early, when he noticed the body in his arms. “What happened?” Bardock asked a little hysterically.
Kakarot noticed the tone and answered calmly. “It’s alright, dad. I’m not sure what his condition is. Can you look at him?”
Bardock calmed a bit and nodded. “Bring him in the med. room and I’ll look at him.” He waved an arm over in the general direction of the room as his son followed him. Bardock had his own little operating room set up in his house. For small towns like this, you may never know what’ll happen. Besides, he set one up at their previous home and he was glad he did. His son got into all kinds of trouble, not to mention he probably saved a lot of money since he didn’t have to take him to the hospital constantly. Of course, Bardock had to have permission to set up such equipment in his own home. Not to mention a license.
Kakarot entered the room and laid the unconscious form on the small cot. He looked at the smaller male for the first time and noticed his shirt was torn down the middle and had a cut, which was pretty good size, that bled some on his chest. His belt was no longer usable and his pants were torn down the side. “What happened?” Bardock asked in a calmer tone as he broke his son out of his musings.
“Uh, I’m not sure. I heard some screams and saw that he was being attacked by four men. He fell unconscious after I saved him.” Kakarot looked worriedly at the form on the cot.
Bardock took a small flashlight and gently opened each of the boy’s closed eyes to see if there was anything to worry about. “I see.” He replied at the dazed look in them and moved his attention toward the wound on his chest. “How bad did you hurt the men?” He asked with little worry as he grabbed a few cotton swabs and cleaned the wound before he put medicine on it, then put on a big, square bandage to help the wound heal.
“Well, I think I broke a few bones and…knocked them all unconscious. I don’t know how that one I threw into a tree is going to wake up.” He answered uncaringly.
His father looked up at him with alert in his eyes. “Well, hell. I hope you didn’t kill any of them! You don’t want to move again, do you?” Bardock gave his son a meaningful stare as he waited for a response.
Kakarot hesitated. “I…guess not.” He answered solemnly.
Bardock stared at him a little longer then looked back down at the unconscious form. “So, what’s his name?”
Kakarot shrugged. “I don’t know. He passed out before he could tell me.”
“Does he go to your school?”
Kakarot nodded and leaned on the edge of the cot, head resting on one of his hands. “I’ve seen him a few times.”
Bardock sighed exasperatedly and leaned on the cot as well. “And you don’t know his name?”
“It’s only been a couple weeks. Don’t expect me to know the whole school’s name, okay?” He answered a little irritably.
Bardock gave him a look, “With a school this small, I actually do.” Kakarot didn’t answer. “Well, is he in any of your classes?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. I try to not pay attention who’s who anymore. Makes it easier to avoid everyone, ya know?”
It was Bardock’s turn to sigh solemnly and he nodded in understanding. They both watched the small male’s breathing for a while. “We should probably move him into the guest room. It would be frightening to see his reaction if he woke up in a room like this.” He gestured around the white room as Kakarot nodded.
“Okay. Which one?” Kakarot stood straight as he got ready to move the small form.
“Hm…how about the one by the living room?” Bardock pointed to a dark room that was across the hall from the medical room. “It’s close to the med. room and the bathroom.”
Kakarot nodded, agreeing at the location, then gently scooped the body into his arms and carefully made his way through the doorframes to get to his destination. He turned the light on with his elbow and carefully laid the smaller male on the bed. He took off the sleeping form’s shoes, then pulled back the sheets and comforter and placed them over him. Kakarot stared at the peaceful face as many questions buzzed around in his head. ‘I know your name. How come I can’t remember it?’ He leaned forward to study the face more. ‘Oh, yeah! I ran into you in the hallway! Ugh, what was your name?’ He thought in frustration.
“Let him sleep. He’ll come around eventually.” His father broke his musings.
Kakarot stared at him then took a few steps towards the man leaning against the doorframe. “So, what’s his condition?”
“Oh, he went into shock. He could wake up any time now…or in a few hours. Depending on how bad the shock was.” Bardock explained nonchalantly then pushed himself from the frame. “Well, only time will tell.” He headed towards the kitchen as Kakarot stayed behind and took a moment longer to stare at the unconscious form, then turned off the light and followed his father.
