In Our Dreams

Edward stirred, the morning sun streaming through the window and into his eyes. He groaned and stretched, not feeling very rested, but having had a VERY good dream. He wandered half-asleep into the bathroom, and took a shower, enjoying the feeling of the water streaming through his hair. He turned off the water, and reached for a towel, wrapping it around his waist and stepping over to brush his teeth. He shut the cabinet door absently, and strolled back into his room. Then, he froze. His jaw dropped as he saw the jacket draped over the chair in the corner. He walked over to it slowly, as if afraid it were a mirage and would simply disappear. He reached out his hand to touch it, to feel the cloth. He then picked it up and held it close, inhaling the musky scent that was Roy Mustang. It wasn’t real. It couldn’t be. But it was. His stunned expression slowly turned into a smile. He wouldn’t cry. He wouldn’t give up. He was the Fullmetal Alchemist, after all. And someday, he would find his way home. He set Roy’s jacket back on the chair, and got himself dressed. After all, it was a new day. And now he knew that he had the strength to go on.
