Author's Note: Alright so this one gets a little out of hand at the end, for those of you who have been keeping with this, you may or may not like the ending to this chapter. I'd ask for R&R but who listens to that request anymore? No one apparently.. But oh well. I still say that if anyone would like to add an idea to tie into the story, I welcome it and you will be given appropriate recognition, as it is only right.

Chapter Five: When Bad meets Worse.
As the six of them walked into class, everyone went silent. Erin could feel all eyes on her as she padded in with the boys. The class seemed to part for them like the water did for Moses when the Jews escaped from their old life in Egypt to begin anew. She saw six empty desks in the back, and without a word, she followed the rest of the group right to them.
Trowa, Wufei, and Heero took the farthest seats, leaving Duo, Quatre and herself with the ones in front of them. Duo grinned wide at her as he placed an arm about her shoulder and guided her to the desk in the center.
"Lighten up Erin. It's not a funeral, you know." She tried to smile back, her cheeks turning a bright red as she sat.
"Yeah yeah." She said, rolling her eyes a bit..
There was a small tapping sound heard from the front of the class, and attention focused to the teacher as he stood in front of the blackboard.
"Good morning everyone. I see our new student made it to her first day without complications." The man smiled at her. He had warm, deep, honey colored eyes, with hair that reminded one of brown sugar. His khaki pants were loose, but still managed to show off the basic build. The same went for the rest of the uniform, despite the lack of cling between the fabric and his skin.
"I'm glad to see that you've already got some friends, too." He scanned over the rest of the class. "Everyone, say hello to the newest student of our wonderful school. Erin Archeal." He waited as the class said their welcome to her, before he continued to speak. "Did you want to tell the class a little about yourself?"
She was about to shake her head at him, but both Quatre and Duo poked her in her sides, causing her to jump out of her seat and stand upright. "You don't have to be friends with just us!" They whispered simultaneously. She nodded once at each of them, heaving an exasperated sigh, and placed a small smile on her face before she looked straight at the teacher.
"As you know, my name is Erin. I like anime, manga, reading, writing, and drawing. I also have an interest in anything to do with electronics-" She paused as she thought about what else, she could say. 'Remember, you're just a normal kid. So, watch your words. You can't tell them things like you're favorite pass-time is a target practice course with real guns!' She forced another smile as she finished up quickly. "If there's anything you would like to know, please ask. I enjoy making new friends. Please take care of me." She bowed before quickly sitting back down.
"Well said." The teacher smiled warmly at her. "My name is Mr. Alister. I'm glad to have another articulate student in my class. I hope you find my class well enough to your liking. Now, let's begin shall we? Those of you that aren't already seated, please do so."
The remainder of the time in the room went fast. There was the general introduction of what was to be learned before he left the class to do as they wanted. For the most part Erin and the boys were left to themselves. Quatre and Duo were happily chatting with her, wondering what plans they should make for lunch and the rest of the day once school was out.
"Well, we could go to Karaoke. Or maybe even the movies." Duo said with a grin.
"I don't know Duo, why don't we show her around the city a bit? Would you like that Erin?" Quatre asked.
"That would be nice. Show me around a little, and then maybe we go to a movie." She said, nodding a bit.
"That's a great idea!" Duo all but yelled. "Oh, Erin you're gonna love this! We're gonna show you the best time you've ever had."
The rest of the school day passed by in a blur for Erin. With each introduction she had to give, she became a little less nervous, and with every passing hour spent with the boys, she began to realize that it really wasn't so bad being stared at everywhere she went with them. 'It'll take some time to really get comfortable here,' She thought, 'but I suppose I don't really have much to worry about with the boys looking after me. I'm glad I met Duo on that plane.'
Currently Erin was in her room, finishing her hair. They all had decided on seeing some of the tourist hot spots first, since she had never been to Japan before, but that was about as far as the planning went. Duo and Quatre got into a heated discussion as Duo tried to convince him that they should also hit up a club. He pointed out that with all the tourists you could find in one it counted. She heard a soft knock and a pause in the conversation. After a few moments she heard the door click back into place.
"It should totally count!" Duo stated huffily, as she poked her head out of the bathroom.
"Should not. I mean, I get that there are lots of people who go there while here visiting, but really Duo, on her second night here? No!" She giggled softly as she saw Quatre's frown.
She cleared her throat to get their attention as she joined them by her bed.
"How about we see about it? For all we know, we might not want to watch a movie after riding around all day. It might not be so bad." She said as she shrugged lightly. Quatre rolled his eyes as Duo whooped for joy.
"Yes! I told you she might be interested." Duo bellowed before sticking his tongue out at the other.
"Thanks, Erin..." Quatre said, giving her a look that said they would all suffer.
"What?" She giggled. "It's true though. Duo's bound to get bored and trying to watch a movie after that point is just- Well, it'll be difficult to say the least." She watched Quatre nod once, giving in. "So I take it the others are waiting out in the car again?" Erin asked.
"Yeah." Duo nodded.
"Alright, well, let's go then." Erin started to walk to the door.
"Hey Erin-" She turned around to look at him as she opened the door. She barely had time to see him run past as he yelled over his shoulder, "Race you to the car!"
"Quatre-" She started to speak, but he cut her off, a smile forming on his lips.
"I got the door. Meet you there. Go! He'll beat you!"
She tore off after Duo, giggling. It didn't take her long to catch up to him, and until they got outside they where neck and neck. As they closed in on the car she all but lunged forward with a quick burst of speed, tagging the door before him with a loud thump. She laughed at the pout he gave as she opened the door to sit down in the car.
"Not fair! I even got a head start on you!" He whined.
"That head start wasn't fair! It serves you right that I won, you little cheater." They both laughed at this for a few seconds, before they went silent, finally noticing the looks the other three were giving them.
"What?" They asked in unison. The only replies they got were the other shaking their heads. The two burst out into a fit of laughter as they got themselves situated, waiting on Quatre to meander his was to the car.
It didn't take him too long, and as soon as he shut the door, the car slowly pulled away from the school.
"So where are we heading anyway?" Erin asked, looking at Quatre. She knew he had planned the majority of the trip and was really curious as to where they would go.
"I just figured that we'd start with a basic tour of the nearest town. I doubt there will ever be a need for you to go there by yourself, but if nothing else you should know your way around."
"That's reasonable." She said as she nodded. Looking out the window at the scenery, she listened to Quatre and Duo chat about the different places they planned to take her. They asked her if there was anywhere in particular she might want to go, but she just shrugged, too caught up in watching as the trees changed into buildings, and making a mental map of places she might ask about later.
Duo cut into her thoughts as he whined loudly. "The first place you want to bring her to is the museum? Are you trying to kill us with boredom?"
"They have an exhibit today, and I just so happened to get us tickets to it. You might not like it, but I'm sure some of us will appreciate it." She saw Quatre and Duo turn to her, waiting to gauge her reaction.
"You two are making too big of a deal out of this. It's supposed to be fun, not a contest to see who's ideas I do or don't like better." They both hung their heads at her words, as though she had physically smacked them. "Now don't do that. Just chill out a bit, huh?" She gave a pleading look. Erin glanced at the other three, who seemed more than content to act like they were only along for the ride, because they had to be.
"A little help here?" She asked as she spread her palm out towards the other two.
"You're on your own here." Wufei huffed. "We're just here to keep you three out of trouble."
"You're assholes. You know that?" The glare she gave didn't phase him. Wufei merely shrugged and continued looking out the nearest window. Erin rolled her eyes, looking to the other two in hopes for something she could work with, but Heero only sat glaring at her, and Trowa was watching Quatre closely.
The car pulled to a stop in a parking spot, and Rashid opened the door for them. When no one else made a move to get out, she sighed in defeat. She leaned her head back for a moment, trying to assess the situation and find a way to salvage it.
~~~ "Erin you can't always expect everything to fix themselves. Sometimes you have to do what's best, even if you don't really want to." She looked at her uncle's back, a thing he had started not too long after he adopted her.
"But I don't want to! I won't! I want to go back home!" Erin sat in a small chair, a little teddy bear clasped in her small arms. "Mommy and Daddy said-" He turned to face her, his eyes clouded with emotion, but his face was blank.
"It doesn't matter what they said. I've explained this to you a hundred times before, Erin. Your Mommy and Daddy are dead. You're in my care now." He sighed heavily, turning his back to her once more.
"I know you're sad, and you miss your friends, and you don't know anything about where you are now, but I need you to do what I ask of you. You don't have to like it, but it needs to be done. When you're older, you'll understand it a bit better."~~~
Erin sighed once more before sitting upright, placing a small smile on her face. *I don't even remember why he said those words to me, but he sure was right.*
"Come on, guys. I'm sure we'll all find something in here that we'll enjoy. Let's ditch the storm clouds that everyone has brewing over their heads and go have some fun. That is what we all came out here for, right?" She mentally crossed her fingers and hoped this worked, because if it didn't, it was bound to be a very long day.
She watched in anticipation as Quatre and Duo simultaneously lifted their heads, matching smiles on their faces. She knew then that she had done the right thing and that they were back on track to a decent day out.
They all finally piled out of the car and made their way into the museum. There were many displays of Japanese art and sculptures within the first room. Erin's eyes widened at the sight of it all. A few seconds in, Quatre and Duo each took hold of one of her arms and pulled her to the closest display.
"Okay Q-man, I take everything I said back. This is really cool! I'm sorry for being so mean to you." She looked at the braided boy as he spoke, a small smile on her lips.
"No worries Duo. I told you I thought we might all find something here to like. Try to have a little faith in me?" She could almost hear the plea in his voice, though she kept her eyes on Duo.
"Alright. I'll stop fighting your ideas. It's more fun to just go with them anyway." He cracked a grin, and the three of them smiled at one another before continuing to look about.
Every so often Erin looked behind them, keeping watch over the other three. She didn't mind when Trowa or Wufei took notice of her constant glances at the other half of the group, but whenever Heero caught her, she quickly turned her attention back to the art and the two boys attached to her. She tried her best not to let her face flush, but Quatre and Duo soon caught on to what she was doing and dragged her out of the sight of the other three.
They were quick to question her in hushed tones.
"Are you keeping tabs on them?" Quatre asked.
"Why was your face all pink there a minute ago?" Duo asked right after the first question.
"Are you crushing on one of them? OMG! Who is it?" Quatre grinned as he took hold of her hand.
"Shhh! Stop you two." She whispered, shaking them off. "I'm- I'm not 'crushing' on anyone! It's- It's nothing. I mean- Yeah, I'm keeping tabs on them, it's a habit I got into long ago, helps me keep track of the group. I'm just not used to other people being as observant as I am, and catching me at it." She lifted her face, looking behind the two, to see the others had moved near where they were talking. As she looked at Heero again, he turned to make eye contact with her just as Duo and Quatre turned to check out what she was looking at.
Erin's face flushed heavily this time, and all but shouted 'I'm guilty.' as she was caught mid blush and attempting to hide her face from view.
"You're totally crushing!" They shouted in unison, making her want to go find a hole to crawl into.
"Shhh! Don't broadcast your accusations! What if they heard you?" She gave them both an undignified glare.
"I can't believe you have a thing for Heero though. What do you see in him? He never talks and he hates being around other people- Well, he just hates people. He's got an awful temper." Quatre stated matter-of-factly.
"Yeah, plus like every girl who's ever asked him out has been rejected. I don't think Heero's ever been out on a date with someone before. He'd probably be a horrible date-"
"Look guys... In all honesty, I don't know what I'm feeling, or why when I make eye contact with him I blush. I've never had a boyfriend, or feelings like this before. It wasn't like this yesterday." She sighed lightly.
"Maybe now that you're calming down, and becoming more comfortable here, your emotions are starting to take over." Quatre said as he made a kissy face at her. "Maybe your body's trying to tell you your ready to have someone." He laughed as Duo hugged him, making smooching sounds.
"Oh Heero! Be my boyfriend! I think I love you!" They both broke out into fits of giggling, as her face only continued to turn a deeper red, from a combination of embarrassment and anger.
"You two are horrible! How can you get enjoyment out of making fun of me?" She clenched her jaw, holding back tears. "I don't even understand what's going on, and you two are making a big joke out of it!" She side stepped around them and started toward the door. She heard Duo and Quatre behind her, calling her name and trying to appologize. She ignored them as she walked out the front doors, and began to make her way down the street.
She was furious, and embarrassed, and- she wasn't quite sure what else. She just knew she felt like she was being picked on, and she needed to be away from them for a few so that could get her bearings without doing something to either of them. After a few minutes, she stopped, taking notice that she had managed to get herself lost, and could no longer hear the boys calling for her.
It seemed that somehow she had walked away from the main street she had been on, and ended up on a shady looking side street. She narrowed her eyes as she looked about, thinking about which way would be best to go to get to a pay phone or something, maybe even a store that had a map she could buy that would get her back to the museum.
"Well hello there, my little geisha. Are you lost?" She heard a deep voice ask from the recesses of the ally she stood in front of. She heard a low chuckle follow the question. "Hm, I could probably take you to wherever you're going. For a price. Nothing's free, you know."
She shook her head harshly, her eyes never leaving where she heard the voice from. "Thanks, but no thanks. I'll find my way just fine." Erin stated resolutely.
"A pretty little thing like you shouldn't be walking around all by yourself. I'll keep you company for a bit. Get you back to where you can find your way." She heard him snicker this time.
"I said, 'No, thank you'." She said a little harsher.
"I wasn't aware that I was giving you a choice in the matter." The man chortle as he finally walked out from the shadows. He wasn't filthy, but she could tell by the stink of him, that either he was a drunk, or didn't have a home to go to. He walked toward her, his hand stretched out as he reached for her.
"Just get away from me." Erin growled out as she backed away from the man. She chanced a glance to the left, wondering if she would be better off running, or if she should stand her ground, but the second was all he needed.
He lunged at her, grabbing one of her wrists in his hand. She tried to counter by throwing a punch at him, but he easily dodged it, twisting her hand back and forcing her to lose what little focus she had to try and formulate a plan with. It took all of two seconds for her to end up in a compromised position, as he now took hold of both her wrists and forced her to stand, pushing her toward the alley.
Once about halfway down it, she felt something placed around her wrists and heard what she thought was a zip tie. She tried to struggle out of it, trying to twist herself so she could gauge where he was, moving her foot in an attempt to trip him.
He stumbled, and as he fell, she turned around and tried to hop over him to make a run for it. Unfortunately, he managed to wrap his dirty fingers around her small ankle and pull. She landed face first against the concrete, hitting her head. Everything began to blur, her vision darkening slowly. She shook her head, trying to will herself to stay conscious and focused.
She cringed as his hand snaked up the back of her leg and over her thigh to grab at her ass roughly. She kicked at him, but he had the advantage given his weight and position over her. He pressed a knee between her shoulder blades leaning a fair amount of his bulk on her to keep her from moving, as she felt more pressure on her ankles, and heard another zipping sound.
*Shit!* She thought, *Now he's got my wrists and ankles! Fuck! I got so pissed at those two I let my guard down, Let my emotions get the better of me, and now some freak has me trapped. Damn it all! This is what Uncle J always warned me about what could happen. I can't believe I was so stupid!*
She tried to squirm as the man removed his knee, growling sharply as his hand snaked up to cup one of her breasts. She felt the other hand make it's way to the front of her pants.
"Mmm. Nice and soft! Just the right size, too." He was close enough to her face now that she could smell liquor on his breath. She flung her head back, but he seemed to have realized that she might pull this trick and squeezed her breast in a Gods' be damned grip, causing her to cry out in pain. "It's cute that you think you're getting out of this, but I've been doing this for a long time sweetheart. There's nothing that you can pull that I can't see coming and prevent." He slid his tongue along the length of her neck, biting down roughly, making her scream a second time.
His fingers nimbly unfastened the button of her pants, and pulled the zipper down. Slowly, and carefully he shimmied her pants and panties to her knees. He removed the hand from her chest, only to replace it on the back of her neck, forcing her face into the filth that covered the ground, as he pulled her hips up so that she was on her knees. He held her like that as he undid his belt, not pulling his pants or his underwear down very far.
At this, she screamed as loud as she could, struggling as much as she possibly could, hoping to throw him off. She heard him growl, felt a sharp pain at the base of her skull, and then her vision faded to all engulfing blackness. Before the shadows of unconsciousness fully enveloped her, she heard what she thought was someone calling her name frantically from a distance. Then nothing.
