Vegeta’s POV
I awoke to a faint sound, but realized it was just someone talking. I tried ignoring it for more sleep, but then my keen nose picked up a familiar scent…‘Kakarot.’ I cracked open my eyes to see where he was, only to be distracted by an unfamiliar warmth. I looked at myself and realized someone put a blanket on me while I was in my shivering slumber. I paused, then sniffed at the blanket and realized where the smell was coming from. I sighed with exhaustion and slumped back onto the couch. ‘Why is it I have a better night’s sleep with that idiotic clown than when I’m alone?’ I realized how disturbing my thoughts were becoming and tried turning my attention elsewhere.
“Vegeta! You’re awake!” I cringed a bit at the noise level this early in the morning, but let a smirk pass through without him seeing it. ‘Yep, that would definitely get my attention.’ “Are you hungry? Master Roshi’s making breakfast! Haha!” He bounced in place at the very mention and thought of food.
I rolled my eyes. ‘I guess in some ways he still acts Saiyan, but he could really tone down that god-awful cheeriness that he irritatingly shows constantly.’ I sighed and decided to forget about more sleep before the child explodes and got off the couch. Once I was standing he started to bounce around me. I slumped my shoulders in exhaustion. ‘I wouldn’t be surprised if my face was showing my irritation, along with my lack of sleep. I’m never sleeping like that again.’ My eyes follow Kakarot. ‘But that doesn’t mean I’m going to start sleeping with him again.’ “Where’s the bathroom?” I ask trying very hard to ignore my companion’s morning upstart.
“Oh, it’s over there!” He pointed excitedly on the other side of the room.
I grunt my thanks and take my time heading over to the small, porcelain room and closed the door to take care of my business. A couple minutes later, I open the door and stretch as I yawn. Once back in a stiff position, a pleasant aroma caught my attention. I followed the smell into the kitchen, just in time to see, “Goku! Would you go away! Breakfast will never be done unless you stop eating it!” The old Master was whacking my Saiyan companion with a wooden spoon as he tried to eat everything in his path.
“But I’m so hungry! Can’t you make it any faster?” Kakarot tried dodging the spoon, but the old Master managed to get in a few hits.
I rolled my eyes at the display and decided to save the old man. After all, he did let me stay here for the night. “Come on, Kakarot. We’ll go and get something to snack on while the old geezer takes his sweet time.” I turned, not waiting for a response. For I knew he’d follow me at the mention of immediate food.
I hear a loud, “OK!” Then, “Hey! Breakfast would’ve been done by now if a hunger-crazed lunatic hadn’t attacked it!” I smirked at the Master’s situation, but continued to go out the door and took flight while Kakarot followed me on his silly cloud.

Meanwhile, on Frieza’s ship…
A blue soldier was doing his job when a familiar beep caught his attention. He looked over at a monitor that was beeping a red light. ‘Hm, wonder what this could be.’ He typed in a few keys to see what it signaled. After reading a few minutes he started to sweat with panic. “Uh…oh…”
“What is it?” Another soldier with brown skin came over to his worried colleague.
“Uh…it seems that…th-there’s a signal from one of the Pods…” The blue soldier answered nervously.
“Oh? Is it Prince Vegeta’s?” The brown one asked curiously.
“Um…it might be…” The blue soldier leaned over the keyboard and pressed the same keys again to see if he was getting the right data.
“Then why are you so nervous?” The brown one asked, getting closer and looking at the screen as well.
“Well…apparently it’s been…uh, the signal was…err, it’s…”
“Spit it out already!”
“It…was recorded two days ago.” The blue soldier said as he looked at his brown colleague.
They both paled as the news was said aloud. “Oh…” The brown soldier said after a few minutes. “…then you better tell Lord Frieza!” He pointed at the worried mutant.
The blue one gasped at that. “But, he’ll be furious!”
“That’s not my problem! If you were doing your job like you were suppose to…then you wouldn’t be in this predicament!” The brown one exclaimed, nervous himself. Knowing the fact that, not only will his Lord be mad at his colleague, but at the whole department as well. “I suggest you bring the news to him right now before waiting a minute longer!”
The blue one hollered his displeasure, then took off running toward his evil Lord’s chamber. A couple soldier’s in the department looked up from their work to see the soldier’s back. “Hey, what did Gosef do this time?” A curious mutant asked.
The brown one came toward the rest of his colleagues to explain. “He was slacking off again and wasn’t paying attention to the monitors! Now he has to tell Lord Frieza that a signal from one of the space Pods came in two days ago!” He exclaimed, still in a panic.
There were a few gasps. “That idiot! Lord Frieza will have ALL of our heads for this!”
“He should know that we’re expecting Prince Vegeta’s signal from his Pod anytime! How could he slack off at something as important as that!”
A few of the mutants shouted their own displeasure as the brown one broke it up. “Hey, we know this for sure…Gosef will get most of the punishment. In other words, we won’t be seeing him again.”
A few of the soldiers nodded at the statement and answered with a prolonged “right.”

After obtaining our…snack…if that’s what you want to call it…Kakarot chased down an animal with scaly skin that was ten times his own size and is now going to town on it…we sat in the grass and enjoyed our ‘meal.’
‘That boy has the most disgusting manners I’ve ever seen! How can anyone tolerate this?’ I grimaced as I watched the boy devour the meat in ways I never thought could be devoured. ‘He sure does eat like a third class…’ Before I knew it, he finished the whole thing within seconds.
“Boy! That was greeeat!” The clown exclaimed loudly as he patted his stomach with enjoyment. He looked over at me then and noticed my barely touched fruit. “Vegeta, you’ve hardly eaten yours at all. Aren’t you hungry?” He looked at me in all his curiousness. ‘Well, so much for breakfast.’
I looked at what I haven’t eaten and grimaced. “Funny, as soon as we started eating, I suddenly wasn’t hungry anymore.” I said with obvious sarcasm, but he didn’t seem to catch it.
“Hm…” He contemplated on the reason why. “are you sick?”
I face palmed. “Kakarot…you need to control yourself in the company of others. It’s very rude to show such reckless behavior.”
He looked at me with confusion. “Wreck what now?”
I sighed. ‘I’m going to have to teach him more than just simple behavior.’ “Reckless. Not being in control of your actions. You need to learn how to control yourself around others, Kakarot.”
“Oh.” He stared at me with understanding. “You think so? No one’s ever complained before. Except for you, Vegeta.” He then looked at me with concern. I scowled. ‘Are you serious?’ “Do you really think I need to change who I am?” He smiled at me sadly.
My scowl softened. ‘I guess not…but that’s not the point here!’ “Kakarot, it wouldn’t hurt you to be more polite. I’m not trying to change your image…just your manners. Especially in ‘my’ presence. I am your Prince after all. It wouldn’t hurt you to show ‘some’ respect.” I ended with my nose in the air and my arms across my chest.
He tilted his head in slight confusion. ‘Ah, here we go…’ “How do I do that?”
I contemplate in…somewhat…understanding. “Well, usually when you address me, you say ‘Prince Vegeta’ and you bow before speaking to me. Though it doesn’t always have to be Prince…it could be ‘Your Majesty’ or ‘Highness.’” I spoke in a formal tone as I demonstrated on what he should actually call me. “Especially from a third class.” I uttered underneath my breath.
But of course his Saiyan hearing picks it up. “A what?” His tail perked up at the notion. ‘Then surely he’s heard of it before.’
“Third class is your rank. Which mean you’re right at the bottom.” I continued when I got a confused stare. “See, first there’s royalty,” I put a hand on my chest as I gestured toward myself, “then elite, first class, second class, then third class.” I gestured towards him at the mention of the last class.
He tilted his head again. “What does that mean?”
I sighed. “It means you’re rank is the weakest of them all. You’re a low level. It means that I am stronger than you!” I pointed my finger into his chest as I continued to try and make it more simpler for him to understand.
But…he had the audacity to scoff at me. I jerked back my hand in surprise as the cold blooded tyrant flashed into my mind from the simple gesture. “You can’t know how strong I am already. I’ve only sparred with you once. You don’t even know if I’ve been holding back or not.” He stretched toward the sun then laid back to soak up its rays.
I sneered at his cockiness. ‘Fool. And he didn’t even say my name properly!’ “Just wait, Vegeta. Wait until the tournament. Then we’ll see who’s the strongest.” He smiled at the sun with his eyes closed, as if picturing his victory already.
I finally snapped. “No, you wait! Wait until I rub your nose into the dirt and tell you how weak you truly are! Wait until I scoff at your stupidity at actually thinking you ever had a chance at beating me! You just wait, clown!” I pointed at him to make…my point…( O.o ) as I growled at him.
He merely squinted his eyes through the bright rays and continued to smile that ridiculous, idiotic, annoying, frustrating smile! I almost pounded him right then and there, but held myself back. ‘Child…he’s only a stupid, stubborn child.’ I gritted my teeth as I tried to will away the urge to beat him into a bloody mess. After a moment, I took a deep breath, held it for a moment or two, then slowly let it out. ‘Sometimes, I can’t even control myself around others.’ I thought sadly as I brought my arms around my knees and hugged them to my chest.

When we returned, we got a scolding from the old hermit from skipping out on his breakfast and morning training and how we’ll have to make up for it by working harder in his training for today and tomorrow. Though it looked like he was scolding more to Kakarot than me. I rolled my eyes at the breath he was wasting on me anyway. ‘No one trains me.’
“Aw…I’m sorry Master.” The boy’s hand went behind his head in a sheepish manner at being scolded. ‘Why does he do that? Usually people look down in shame or something pathetic like that when either being embarrassed or yelled at. But ‘he’ does ‘that’ for ‘both.’ Even when he’s happy. It’s puzzling.’
I turned my attention to the bald headed midget when he ran out to greet his training partner and Master as I stayed a few feet behind to see what they’d do next. “M-mmm.” The old man cleared his throat. “Now, it’s time for training the mind…”
“Aw!” The hermit was interrupted by Kakarot’s displeased outcry at the mention of this training. I quirked my eyebrow at this.
“Can it, Goku! Your brain doesn’t just sit in your head to fill the space! I’ve told you this before, and I’ll probably say it again…if you train your mind, you can think of useful ways to bring down your opponent.”
“But…what do numbers have to do with fighting?” The imbecile asked with both hands behind his head now.
The Master sighed. “Just sit down and try not to fall asleep. We’re wasting daylight.” The hermit shook his head slightly then turned to a green board that I just now noticed standing behind the old man and then started drawing on it with a white, chalky stick.
I stared at it oddly, but decided not to question and thought about what sort of training I should do. Kakarot seemed to have noticed me then, “Hey, Vegeta…are you going to train your brain with us?” He asked innocently, tail wagging slightly in curiosity.
I smirked at his silly question. “Of course not. I’m already smarter than you two buffoons combined. In fact, I’ve already made up a plan to defeat you all. So, if you‘ll excuse me, I’m off to do my own training. Have fun in class.” I barked a laugh and with a scowl of offense on baldy’s face, a studying stare from the old guy, and a curious tilt of the head from Kakarot, I turned in the opposite direction and took off into the curious blue sky.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At sunset, with hunger and exhaustion taking over my being, after training for hours on end, I strutted back and forth- with my arms crossed and a sneer on my face- in a pace-like manner, debating whether or not to return to the poor excuse of an island. ‘One night was enough…and it’s not like I ‘have’ to go back! I can take care of myself!’ A sudden flashback caught me to take me back a couple of days when I didn’t even know how to treat my wounds or take care of my tail. I cringed as my pride took a crippling blow from the mere image. ‘So what? It’s not like that’ll happen again. I’ll just be more careful is all.’ I stopped my pacing as my stomach made it’s emptiness known by loudly groaning it’s displeasure. I reached a hand down to clutch at my ‘borrowed’ gi and my sneer widened. ‘Damn it. What the hell am I suppose to eat?’ I looked around myself at all of the source of life around me. ‘I’m still trying to adjust to this planet! I…don’t know what’s edible! And the last thing I need to is to get ill from something that isn’t!’ I growled and clenched my eyes shut at my helplessness. ‘No. Not this feeling again. I refuse to give up! I’m going to fight for my survival!’
I opened my eyes to look around myself…to ‘really’ look around myself…and noticed how alone I was. No one to order me around. No one to point out what I should and shouldn’t eat or where to go for shelter. No one to encourage me and tell me that I can make it on my own…no one to smile and hunt food for me. No one to comfort me with their presence and settle my distraught emotions. ‘No…Kakarot…’
I sat down in the dirt and once again hugged my knees to my chest with a face that said, “What should I do?” And contemplated on how much I rely on others…and how much…that silly clown has grown on me in the past few days I’ve spent with him. That last notion put me in an even worse mood. That a third class could even comfort a distraught, helpless Prince. I sighed and buried my head into my knees.
‘Maybe…I should stay the night out here…just for one night…then go back. No, then I’d get questions…or I could make an excuse. Hm, maybe Kakarot will come out here soon and get me…he’ll probably think I was lost or…’ My mind stopped working at the last thought and shot up to look around me…‘wait a minute…’
I turned all around me and even took to the air as I tried, for my life, to find something that looked familiar. ‘No, no, no!’ My heart quickened and my breathing sped up as I panicked at my situation. “I can’t be lost!” I said aloud. Not believing the problem I had.
‘I was eager to get my own training in that I didn’t bother to take any note in how I got here! Not to mention I screwed myself up even more while I was training!’ I clutched my hands to either side of my head as I tried denying this simple and idiotic mistake.
“Kakarot…” ‘Now I really wish the clown was here. How could have I made such a…I can’t even begin to-to…ugh!’
I looked around in a panic again as tears sprang to my eyes. “Damn it…” ‘Okay, okay…try to calm down.’ I sank down slowly as I concentrated on my labored breathing to slow itself down. I placed my feet back on the ground as I tried to think of a logical way to solve my shameful mistake. ‘Shit. Maybe I should’ve stayed with those fools during their…‘class.’ ’ I shook my head to get the thought out. ‘No, no. Now, you must prove yourself that you ‘can’ take care of yourself and that you ‘are’ smarter than those imbeciles!’ I took a deep breath, then let it out.
‘Alright, first of all, you know that you’re on an island.’ I looked around myself to be sure that I was. ‘Okay, now the sun is setting in the…’ My eyes widened as I realized I didn’t know which way the sun rises or sets. My shoulders slumped. ‘Great. It could be any direction. I know that our suns raised in in the north and set in the south, but that’s because it rotated on it’s axis. I haven’t even begun to wonder how this planet rotated. Note to self: get information on this as soon as I find my way back…if I can find my way back.’ I hugged myself as the temperature started to drop and the sun was now only half visible. ‘I could wait…until the moon rose. But, then there’s the risk of transforming…besides…’
I sat down for more warmth then clenched my eyes shut in defeat, ‘I don’t want to wait ‘that’ long.’ I started rocking back and forth a little to keep my blood flowing at the decreasing temperature, then tried to think of something to help keep my mind off of my current situation. That third class clown was the first thing to pop up behind my eye lids and I instantly felt a bit better, but a little worse considering that he’s not with me.
“Kakarot…” I whimpered to no one as I longed to be with my Saiyan companion. I imagined his warmth whenever I came into the other’s contact and my skin tingled at the memory. I imagined how warm he was just by being in his very presence. How he made me blush with his childish, yet innocent, voice.
Then suddenly, the tingling got a little more warmer, and warmer…my body became so warm I started to see a bright light behind my eye lids. Gradually at first, then brighter and brighter. I opened my eyes in shock when the light got so bright and my body became very hot, but there was nothing in front of me, nor around me. I quirked an eyebrow in confusion, then hesitantly closed my eyes again. As soon as I did so, the light returned, but it was a more comforting orange glow, instead of an intense brightness.
I smiled softly at how the glow comforted me a little. As I continued to see it’s beauty, I realized that there was a faint pulse to it. The more I watched it, the more I could ‘feel’ it. My smile faded at the strangeness of it. As it continued to show it’s light thrumming, the more it started to feel a part of me. My heart even started to thrum along with it as my pulse went along with the light’s tempo, almost as if it was beckoning me to come towards it.
I purred in wonderment, then got up to go towards it. At first, I slowly walked towards where I ‘felt’ the warm light, as if unsure if this is what I should be doing. Then, I walked faster as it continued to pulse for me, almost begging me to come towards it. My smile came back at its phenomenal intelligence, then decided to take to the air, eyes still closed…as if worried I would lose this warm glow, if I dared to open my eyes.
The faster the light pulsed, the faster I flew, eager to get to it’s comforting warmth. A while later, I slowed as the light stayed at it’s constant pulsing, wandering if I was getting close or not. Then, out of nowhere…“Vegeta! You’re back!”
My eyes flew open at the outburst, knowing the voice anywhere. Then, without my control, my smile grew wider as I saw Kakarot…actually glad to see that big smile on the child’s face. The second thing that I noticed as I landed, was that it was night time. ‘How long did I fly? And how exactly…did I get back?’ I looked around myself in confusion and noticed that I was back on the impossibly small island…and Kakarot running towards me. ‘Wait…’ “Gah!” I was suddenly in a vice-like hug as the idiot squeezed the breath out of me.
“Oh, Vegeta! I was so worried about you! I was wondering if you injured yourself again or…if you got lost or…if you were starving to death!” Kakarot was nuzzling my chest as he ranted like a worried mother.
My chest warmed at the somewhat aggressive, but comforting gesture. I would’ve subconsciously returned it if my arms weren’t pinned to my sides. “Uh…well, I’m alright now, so…let me go!” I waited a moment as the boy continued to crush me, then complied.
He looked me in the eye and smiled…it wasn’t the usual grin that the clown often expressed, but more like a comforting smile…like a “I’m glad you’re okay” smile. His eyes were half lidded as he seemed to struggle what to do with his hands, which were hovering around my arms and torso. I blushed slightly at the odd gestures, but thankfully the hermit, whom I’ve just noticed, seemed to have sensed my distress. “Alright you two, get inside so we can all go to sleep.”
Kakarot grabbed my wrist as he eagerly dragged me behind him and into the tiny pink house. ‘He really ‘does’ treat me like I’m his pet. Hn.’ Even though the display was a little insulting, I faintly smiled at how happy he was with me. I looked back at the old man to see if he saw the expression appear on my face, but he seemed to have been busy looking at the night sky…as if expecting to see something. After a moment he came inside. I scowled in thought as Kakarot dragged me up the stairs. ‘I wonder if he’s looking for…no, he couldn’t know about it…then again, Kakarot said that he was told not to look at the moon.’ I studied him a moment longer before we turned a corner and he was out of my view.
I looked ahead of me and realized we were headed to Kakarot’s room…wait, no! I pulled my wrist back in surprise, the display from last night replaying in my head as I blushed fiercely. Kakarot stopped to look at me in wonder. “Vegeta, what’s wrong? Are you worried about sleeping with me again? Don’t worry! I’ll wear my pants this time, so you’ll be more comfortable!” He beamed a smile at me.
The blush stayed at his statement and I tried to fight the urge to growl. “No, that’s not it! Though, that would be nice of you if you did that…I mean, it’s just…” I paused to recuperate. “I haven’t eaten since this morning! So if you don’t mind, I’d like to get a meal before going to bed!” I all but shouted to my companion.
“Oh, right! Well, how ‘bout you go and get ready for bed while I bring up something for you!” Before I got a chance to argue, he dashed down the stairs toward the kitchen, practically a bounce in his every step.
I shook my head and smiled faintly at the display. ‘Why does he always feel the need to bring me food?’ I smirked more at the obviousness of it. ‘Because I’m his Prince, of course.’ As I stood there for a few moments, I was suddenly aware of being watched. I turned my head to the left and noticed the little midget staring through the gap in his partly opened door, giving me a questioningly careful stare. I scowled at him, not liking the odd look coming from the cue ball. “What?” I growled at him. He jumped and scampered back into his room.
I scoffed at baldy’s cowardliness and strutted into Kakarot’s room. As I stood there, looking at the ridiculously large futon, I realized I needed a bath. After going down the stairs and toward the bathroom, I peeked into the kitchen out of curiosity and saw Kakarot busying himself making my meal. ‘It’s amazing that he’s not scarfing down the food while making it.’ I chuckled lightly at the thought and watched him a bit longer to see if he’d prove me wrong.
Not seeing any attempts of him sneaking any food, I decided to hurry and get cleaned before he finishes.
After getting the water temperature to my liking and filling the porcelain tub, I realized I’ll have to wear the same clothes I trained in today after I’m done bathing. I scowled, ‘disgusting.’ After undressing, I gingerly dipped one leg in the hot water, deciding it was the right temperature, then continued to submerge my whole body under the relaxing water. Being fully seated, I scrubbed all the grime off then leaned my head back against the cold, tile surface to relax and soak for a bit. ‘I’m glad I don’t have to bathe in a freezing river this time.’ I thought with a smile, then closed my eyes and tried to forget the horrible evening I had and let the steam from the hot water coax me into a more relaxing state as I sunk a little more into the comforting heat.
Suddenly, my moment was gone when the clown decided to burst in. I opened my eyes in irritation. “Hey, Vegeta, dinner’s ready.” He came in with a smile, then as soon as he saw me, it left.
I scowled. “Don’t you knock? Or am I going to have to teach you that as well?”
He didn’t answer as his eyes left my face to roam my naked being. I blushed fiercely. “Kakarot!” His eyes shot to me then. “Do you mind?! I’ll be out as soon as I’m done!” I sat up into a rigid position, trying to hide some of my dignity.
“O-kay.” He hesitated then slowly closed the door.
I sat back and huffed to glare at the door. ‘There really needs to be a lock on that door.’ I sighed, deciding to get out before the clown eats it all. I stepped out of the tub and grabbed a blue towel to dry. As soon as that was finished, I looked at my soiled clothes on the floor and frowned. ‘So, which is it Vegeta? Sleep in your soiled clothes? Or sleep naked?’ I groaned at my predicament. ‘They both sound awful. Maybe I should sleep on the couch again.’ My frown deepened. ‘Maybe I should try the floor.’ I sighed and looked at the towel, then decided to wrap it around my waist for now. ‘I’ll decide what to do later.’
I left the little room to be hit with a pleasant aroma. I sniffed the air a moment then my stomach decided to make it’s hunger known again. I looked towards the kitchen and noticed I was being watched again. Kakarot stood on the other side of the dining table where my meal was all laid out and was just…staring at me. ‘Okay…’ I scrutinized him a bit, then hesitantly walked towards the table and took a seat.
As I looked at all the food in front of me, deciding what to eat, I couldn’t help but glance to where the idiot was still standing. I decided to ignore him for now and tend to my stomach’s needs. As I scarfed down everything in site; except more mannerly than my companion, not really tasting it, in case I didn’t like something…I noticed that said companion was still looking at me, but with more of a look of curiosity than…‘whatever that look was that he was peering at me with.’
Finally, wanting to break the awkwardness of the situation, “what?”
He tilted his head when I spoke, as if I just spoke a foreign language. “Where did you get all those scars?”
I flinched at the question, as if the words themselves were an attack to my being. I looked away from him to come up with a simple answer. ‘I can’t tell him about Frieza. I just can’t. Mainly because I’d get more questions, but…’ My expression must’ve turned sad because Kakarot then said, “you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
I turned my attention back to him and noted a concerned look on his childish face. I scowled at the innocence of the look and decided not to answer his question as I hopped off the chair I was seated in and headed upstairs. Already deciding to sleep in the towel, but completely forgetting that I decided to sleep on the floor. ‘At least it’s better than sleeping naked. Though it could come off while I’m sleeping…’ I tried not to think about those possibilities while concentrating on my destination…and Kakarot following closely behind me.
I growled lowly in annoyance, knowing that he was after something, yet with more of an air about myself as he followed his Prince. ‘Like he should.’ I went into ‘our’ room and went straight for the futon, but paused beside it. Waiting to see what Kakarot would do.
He paused at the doorway and stared at my feet for a moment, as if deciding whether or not to say anything, then proceeded to take off his clothes…along with his pants. “No! You keep those things on!” I pointed at his pants.
He shot his head up at me, then gave me a heartbreaking look only a mother would cave to. “But you’re not wearing any pants!” He whined.
I glared at him. “Because I don’t have any other clothes to wear besides the ones I have soiled with my training! Now stop complaining! Either you leave them on or I’m not sleeping with you!” I froze at my words. ‘Damn it. Why do I keep doing that?’
As usual, Kakarot doesn’t seem to have caught on, as he looked like he was debating whether or not to listen to me, then finally made a decision to keep them on. I sighed in relief, then proceeded to lay down. As I got comfortable, I felt Kakarot immediately snuggle up against my back and I huffed as I scooted away. He proceeded to press himself into my back, as I continued to scoot away, no matter how comforting it was. He finally stopped when I got to the edge of the futon. I let out another sigh and waited ‘til the clown fell asleep.
As I did so, my thoughts took me back to earlier this evening, when I made it back here. ‘How did I get back?’ I asked myself the same question again. ‘Was I even conscious? Maybe I was in a panic-stricken state and I instinctually found my way back here. But what was that light? It seemed oddly familiar…’ I closed my eyes as I tried to remember what it looked like. ‘It was orange…and it pulsed like…a heart or…no more like…a ki? And the warmth of it…seemed strangely familiar…’ I stiffened as I realized what it reminded me of. ‘Kakarot? No way could it have been Kakarot! I mean…it was too strong…to beat that fast…and too bright…I mean, if it really was ki, then it couldn’t have been him. Well, then again, Kakarot’s the strongest one I know of here on this planet. And, it couldn’t have been the bald midget or the perverted old hermit…hm…’ It was puzzling. Then another thought hit me. ‘Wait a minute…if it was Kakarot…how did I…? I mean, how did he…? Did we…? Are we…bonded…in some way?’ Ugh! It was almost preposterous to think of! Then again, Kakarot has done nothing but surprise me since I’ve landed on this interesting little planet. ‘Maybe it was a new technique that I accidentally picked up on? Well then, how come Kakarot hasn’t told me about it? Wonder if he saw the same thing…’ I guess my questions will remain unanswered as I heard Kakarot snore lightly a few inches behind me.
My thoughts, once again, went to the strange light. ‘It almost seemed like it was…calling me…’ As I started to picture the glow, I then jerked in surprise as I saw it again. It was it’s comforting glow as before and it’s pulse was the same when I got here. I watched it for a while as it moved in and out, as if it were breathing. The more I watched it, the more I began to get that tingling sensation as before when I watched it. I breathed in and out at the light’s tempo, then my back gradually started to get warmer. I tried not to sigh in irritation, thinking that it was Kakarot pressing against me again.
So I fidgeted in place to get him a couple inches away, when I realized that nothing was there. I opened my eyes in wonder, then shifted to turn over and see for myself. Kakarot was where he was before, snoring softly a few inches in front of me. My gaze widened in curiosity, then I closed my eyes again to focus on the light. After a few moments of matching my pulse with its, I felt the warm tingly sensation come back, except it was affecting the front of my being now instead of my back.
I scrunched my brows in thought, then opened my eyes again to stare at the boy inches away. His face was round and almost relaxed in sleep. Except it seemed a bit strained, like he was having a nightmare maybe. His arms were closer to me than his body, almost touching me. ‘Why does he get the urge to touch me all the time? Doesn’t he realize how uncomfortable it is?’ As soon as that thought sailed, a little voice in the back of my head tells me it’s more comforting to me than it is annoying.
I relaxed my expression as I studied the rest of the boy’s posture. His breathing slowly going in and out. I cinched my brows together for a bit before closing my eyes again and noticed that the orange glow pulsing behind my closed lids was going the same speed as Kakarot’s breathing. I sighed and opened my deep orbs again. ‘Okay, what if it is Kakarot’s? What does that mean?’ I decided to finally lay the thought to rest for tonight and think about it tomorrow.
As I closed my eyes for the final time that night, I watched the comforting glow pulse again and my consciousness started to slip away at its rhythm as well as the comforting warmth it brought within me and Kakarot’s scent.
In case some of you haven’t picked up on it yet, Vegeta just learned how to sense people, well, Kakarot for now. Hehe. Sorry if this is starting out slow. I mean, it’s gonna be a while before anything happens between the two. Depending on how antsy all of you get. For now I’m just trying to get a plot gathered up so I can sneak in bits and pieces of Vegeta and Goku’s relationship. If you’re reading this for some juicy lemon to come along…you’re wasting your time…for now. :p I was thinking about making a sequel to this, but…maybe I should just continue it on this one. Eh, we’ll see.
