Chapter 6

It had now been a week since Rai first came to River Side and did he have a few ups and downs during it. He enjoys hanging around Max and the others, he had become friends with Kite because they where in some of the same classes together. So all was going well except for someone and that was Kai. Living with Kai for a week seemed like a year for Rai, he wasn’t sure how he was going to handle a whole year.

It was night time and some of the college students where in their dorm rooms, it was only 7:00pm but that was curfew. Only for the freshman though, which Rai thought was a bit of a bummer. Seconds years and upwards their curfew was at 10:00pm which Rai thought was lucky.

He had just come out of the shower when he could smell something yummy coming from the kitchen. Rai changed into some baggy track pants and a top, he brushed and dried his hair but left it down. He then walked out into the lounge room and man the smell of food was amazing. Rai walked up to the bench which separated the kitchen to the lounge room. “Watch ya cooking” the dark haired asked. “Spaghetti” was all Kai said “you know I hate to have to say this but it…it smells good” he forced himself to say.

“If you want some all you had to do was ask” Kai said still stirring the pasta. “Why you I gave you a compliment I wasn’t asking if I could have some” Rai told him. “Then you don’t want any well that’s fine” Kai replied. “No no I didn’t say I didn’t want any I mean I oh what the hell yeah I would like some” Rai said.

Kai placed a bowel and a fork in front of Rai and then brought the saucepan over with the pasta in it. “Say when” Kai said, he started putting some of the spaghetti in Rai’s bowel “that’s enough thanks” Rai told him. The bluenette put some in his bowel and placed the saucepan back on the stove. He sat down on the opposite side of the bench so he was facing Rai. “You know if you just stare at it, it will go cold” Kai told him.

“Yeah um thanks” Rai replied and started eating, Kai soon noticed that Rai was having a bit of trouble with his spaghetti. It kept falling of Rai’s fork, he couldn’t take it anymore “don’t tell me you don’t know how to eat spaghetti” Kai asked him. Rai looked up “well to be honest were I live we have only used chopsticks when we ate noddles and spaghetti not forks” Rai told him. “Huh man your hopeless” Kai said, he took the fork away from Rai, “this is how you do it” Kai started to show him. Rai watched as Kai put the fork into the spaghetti and then twirled the fork in circles. The spaghetti started to wrap around the fork, Kai then lifted the fork up. “That is how you eat spaghetti with a fork” Kai told him, handing the fork back.

Rai took the fork and ate the spaghetti, this time he tried to do it, it took him a couple a times but he finally got the hang of it. They both finished eating and Kai took the bowels and headed to the sink. He started to turn the water on ‘I guess I should help with the dishes he did let me have some after all’ Rai thought to himself. He walked into the kitchen and grabbed a tea towel “so your going to help huh” Kai asked. “Yeah I thought I might as well” Rai replied and waited until the sink was full of water.

Once the sink was full Kai started to wash the dishes and then places them on the side so Rai could dry them. Kai ended up having an itch on his nose so he tried to scratch it not realising he put soap bubbles on his cheek. Rai was about to grab the next plate when he noticed that their was bubbles on Kai’s face. He slightly chuckled that Kai hadn’t even noticed himself, he was to busy washing.

Rai couldn’t hold it in any longer he just came out and started laughing, it surprised Kai a bit. “What so funny” Kai asked him “you ha, ha, ha, got ha, ha, some mcc, bubbles on ha, ha ,ha your face” Rai told him still cracking up laughing. Kai soon realised he did and rubbed them of however he was still wearing gloves which had bubbles all over them. So he ended up getting more on his face. This just made Rai crack up more, tears where soon rolling down his face.

“You say I am an idiot” Ray said calming down, “geez come here your soon going to cover your whole face with bubbles” Ray told him. He grabbed the hand towel and pulled Kai towards him, Rai reached up to Kai’s face a bit and started to wipe the bubbles away. Kai had to close one of his eyes so none of the soap got in their. Their was complete silence the only sound was the music coming from the next dorm room across the hall.

Rai soon finished wiping Kai’s face when he looked at the bluenette’s eyes, sharp grey eyes looking back at Rai’s soft brown eyes. Rai’s hand had stopped on Kai’s cheek it was as if Kai’s eyes where hypnotizing him. It seemed that he couldn’t break free of Kai’s glance towards him.

‘What’s wrong with me, my body doesn’t seem to want to move’ Rai thought to himself. ‘Why is he looking at me like that and why haven’t I moved away’ Kai thought. Their where so many different thoughts running both through Kai and Rai’s heads at that moment. What seemed like seconds made it seem like hours. Rai’s heart was beating so fast ‘I haven’t even put my hand down yet oh god I wish that someone would just walk in right now’ Rai thought and wished.

“HEY KAI YOU IN HERE” someone yelled walking through the door without knocking. When Rai heard someone coming in he quickly separated himself from Kai. “Hey Kai” a boy looking around Kai’s age walked around the corner. “Oh sorry should I come back later” he asked “no I was just finishing up” Kai said. He took the gloves of and placed them near the sink “Rai can you finish of the dishes” he told him.

Kai walked out of the kitchen he grabbed his jacket from the jacket hook on the side of the wall before leaving the room with his friend. Rai just stood their as the door slammed behind them, he then dropped to the ground.

‘What the hell just happened was I gonna do what I think I was going to do’ Rai thought. “No no that’s just my idiot self talking” Rai said to himself. He looked at his hands they where shaking “my hands are shaking, Kai’s gonna think I’m some mental freak now” Rai said. He then hit his head “good going Rai god I am an idiot, yeah just touch your enemy’s face and look at him like some love sick girl”. He put his head down between his legs and just looked down at the ground “great how am I gonna face him now” he asked himself.

Two hours later Kai had returned back and walked through the door and saw that the kitchen and lounge light where still on. “Stupid idiot forgetting to turn the light of” Kai said but just when he walked past the kitchen, their sitting on the floor was Rai who had fallen asleep. “Man you are hopeless aren’t you” Kai said of course knowing Rai couldn’t hear him.

Kai walked over to him and picked him up bridal style “man you sure are light” Kai said. He walked through the bedroom door with Rai in his arms. He put Rai down on his single bed making sure not to wake the raven haired boy. Rai moved a little bit when he was put down on the bed. Kai covered him with a spare blanket which was in his wardrobe, Kai looked at the sleeping boy on the bed. “Why why did you look at me like that what were you thinking” Kai said in just a whisper. “I truly don’t get you Rai Kon” he then walked out of the bedroom and got himself a cup of coffee.

It was the next morning which was now a Saturday Rai’s first real day of for the week. He woke up and noticed that he was in his bed. ‘Okay memory rewind I was in the kitchen and then I did something that I will never forget, I fell to the floor I remember that and then I cant really remember what else happened after that” Rai was thinking to himself. “Wait a second” he quickly got up and ran out to the lounge room and saw Kai sitting on the lounge drinking a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper.

“Hey Kai” Rai said out loud a bit, Kai raised his head “what” he asked. “Did did DID YOU SLEEP WITH ME LAST NIGHT” he yelled the last part out. “Why would I sleep with you” Kai asked him. “Well I don’t know I mean you might have drugged me or something and took advantage of me” Rai said. “Besides I cant remember going to bed and I remember our um thing in the kitchen” he started rattling on. “Their was no thing in the kitchen and I went out and no I did not sleep with you and even if you wanted me to I still wouldn’t I am not into guys” Kai said. “Well yeah, wait hey I didn’t say anything about me wanting to sleep with you, I’m not into guys either ya know” Rai told him.

“Are you sure” Kai then asked him a stunned look came on Rai’s face “what do you mean Kai”. “Well you hang around with four gay guys, people might think your gay to” Kai said, looking back down in his paper. “Say what you will but I am not gay” Rai replied crossing his arms and giving Kai the angry glare.

“Are you falling for me Rai” Kai said it came out of no where “WHAT ME FALLING FOR YOU AS IF” Rai yelled back. “Then tell me why did you look at me the way you did last night” Kai asked him why looking straight at Rai. “That that was nothing I was just helping you get the bubbles of that’s all” Rai said turning his face a way. A slight blush coming onto his face, Kai stood up seeing how Rai’s cheeks where going a little pink.

“It doesn’t take that long to wipe bubbles of someone’s face” Kai then said, Rai looked at him. He noticed Kai taking a step closer towards him, Rai took a step back “I I wanted to make sure that they where all of” Rai said a little scared. Each time Kai took a step forward Rai would take a step back. “Then tell me why do you look at me when were in the same class together” another step forward. “I” Rai was having trouble trying to say something, “why do you always talk about me with your friends” another step forward. “I” Rai still couldn’t say anything “why do you like to pick fights with me” another step forward. “I” soon Rai couldn’t step back anymore because he had ended up against the wall. Kai was just half a foot away from Rai.

Rai looked up at those dark grey eyes which he couldn’t get away from, from last night. “Tell me why has someone like you fallen for me” Kai asked him. They just looked at one another “I” but before Rai could say anything else. He felt a pair of warm lips pressed against his, Rai's eyes were wide from shock and surprise.

Rai’s mind was running wild and his heart was beating so fast it felt like it was going to come out of his chest. But for some reason Rai felt this warm feeling in his chest and it felt rather nice. His eyes soon slowly started to close and nothing else around him mattered anymore.
