I’ve added this note to reply to reviews since it will be a while before I update this story.
Starlight_dragon: I don’t normally do requests unless I’ve already got something similar in the outline … luckily for you, something similar is in the queue. Two words: public scene. ^_^
Kit-kit: I think it’s not so much that he buried his pride, but that he now believes his previous actions damaged his pride … or something. This is the kind of thing that sounds silly when you try to explain it.
Pun_xy: yeah, the tail thing was kind of extreme, but it just sort of flowed naturally from the story … and if you go back and read “Desecration”, some of the stuff mentioned there is even worse. And yeah, Goku (in my mind) is definitely a masochist/sadist, whereas Vegeta tends a great deal towards exhibitionist/voyeur. Thank you for picking up that Vegeta does love Goku here – I’ve been working on that “show, don’t tell” thing.
And yes: the more you feed the ego, the more brain droppings are likely to result ;3
Finally, in response to Anon (who, I notice, did not have the good grace to leave any kind of name). This will be longer because I think this is a serious issue that needs addressing.
There is, in popular culture and in fanfiction, a lack of understanding about how BDSM relationships function, and in my opinion, depictions of healthy BDSM relationships are rare. There are many factors which can lead to a dysfunctional relationship, including verbal and emotional abuse, lack of trust, fundamental disrespect between partners, fear and anger issues, and actual rape. However, consensual bondage, pain, and power exchange are not among these factors. I do not believe that the role of submissive is inherently degrading or humiliating, nor do I believe that domination is based on coercion and fear. In fact, I am much more comfortable reading (and writing) extreme BDSM scenes in a spirit of trust and respect, than I am in reading plain-vanilla yaoi stories in which the characters betray, manipulate and otherwise treat each other like dirt.
I began the Pure Evil series specifically to depict a healthy, loving Master/slave relationship; the Desecration stories depict an initially dysfunctional relationship in the process of becoming healthier. As for the characters involved, Kakarott/Goku and Vegeta are (a) extremely violent, death-dealing warriors who risk their lives and get injured on a regular basis, (b) obsessed with relative and absolute strength, and (c) at least in fanfic, love and trust each other very much. That is excellent chemistry for a BDSM relationship, and in fact, it feels very natural for this pair to be so. Don’t agree with me? Fine, don’t read it; there are other authors around whose work I can’t stand. HOWEVER.
I am surprised that you claim to be against “intolerant and hateful … homophobic people,” when the language you use to describe BDSM is exactly the same as that used by homophobes to describe gays. By referring to the characters in my stories as “Disgusting … sick and worthless trash”, you are insulting and demeaning not only BDSM writers, but the thousands of people who participate in these activities in real life.
How dare you call people worthless trash because their sexual preferences differ from your own.
