Chapter 6: Experimentation

Weeks had passed as Edward laid motionless and chained to the wall. His right automail arm was gone as was his left automail leg, leaving him defenseless. The babies were gone and out of his grasp. ‘How did they know we would return?’

Constantly degrading himself for being so stupid. Roy must have been worried, how many weeks had it been already, six or more at least? His cell stayed damp constantly, leaving him chilled to the bone with nothing but a thin sheet for cover. He shivered as he remembered the tests that they stationed him for. Cold metal being pressed to his skin, him being forced faced down while they did other things to him. Needles protruding from his body, and the god awful smell of the place.

Hakuro constantly had Edward to himself in his room. Dreading every touch the despicable bastard placed. From his lips to his touches, he was sick of it all. ‘What a father I turned out to be. I’m supposed to protect my kids, not get them captured and experimented on.’ Edward sighed once more, no pain was greater than this. He missed Roy, he wanted to go back home. Hakuro had mentioned something of Shou Tucker having his way with something.

Edward winced when another touch was placed. “Get your filthy fucking hands off me dammit!”

“The more you fight, the less of a chance you have of staying alive. Now be a good boy while I finish up hmm?” Edward laid still and could only whimper when his body was being tortured this much, under constant attack. When Hakuro was done, he threw Edward off the bed and into the floor, making stars form in front of Edward’s eyes as his sight blurred. Hakuro straddled his waist and slapped him hard across the face.

Blood dripped from his nose and mouth and landed on the rug under them. Seeing this, Hakuro leaned over and licked at the trickling blood. He watched as it caked Edward’s blonde hair into something darker. Hakuro got up and threw Edward a towel and demanded that the blood better be cleaned up. “I don’t care if you don’t have either automail, I want it all cleaned up. Better be cleaned by the time I get back. And remember, you have to go back to the lab today.”

Edward threw the towel across the floor and cradled himself in the corner. He wish they would just kill him and get it over with. He wanted to be with Roy and his kids but to die would be better, no one would want him now.

“I wish everything would fucking stop, please Roy hurry. I don’t know how much more I can take,” he buried his face in his knees and just cried.


Meanwhile…

“Alphonse, where would they have taken him? The only place left are the labs, but they’ve been shut off for years,” Roy sat back against a brick wall and sighed. “We have to find him and the babies.”

“Maybe we should just check the labs Colonel. I mean, those are the last places left.” Alphonse suggested out of breath.

“I just don’t know Al,” Roy got back up and noticed as Hakuro passed by. He ducked back into the shadows with Alphonse and both watched where Hakuro came from and where he was headed to. “Did he just come out from laboratory four?” Roy looked back at Alphonse in question.

Alphonse nodded and waited for the right moment before darting into the open with Roy right behind him. They found a set of windows to peer into but could see nothing. Roy looked up at the fairly large building, noticing that it was Hakuro’s house. The bastard had seemed smug about something. Roy ran quietly to the back of the house and checked to see if one of the doors were left and found he was successful. He turned the knob slowly and signaled for Alphonse to stand guard while he searched the house.

Upon entering the house, he found that he was located in the basement. The basement was dank and dark, barely any light possible. He carefully stepped through the basement and discovered some stairs. He slowly climbed up and found that this door was open too, someone had to be home. He would have to be extra careful. He opened the door enough to peer around and noticed it was clear.

He made his way through the living room, finding another set of stairs that led to bedrooms. He made his way up the second set of stairs and checked the first bedroom on the right. Slowly he stepped through the door, everything seemed to be normal. Just a regular guest room it looked like.

The sound of doors opening made Edward cringe. The bastard must be back and peering into every room to make sure he didn’t go anywhere. Of course he couldn’t, his automail was fucking gone. Stupid Hakuro taking everything he had away from him, even his life. Raping him just to break his spirit to make him believe no one cared any longer. No one probably did anyways. He shrank as another door was opened then closed and finally the master bedroom door was opened. He stayed huddled into the corner as footsteps got closer. His curiosity got the better of him and he looked up. His face melted into a smile however as Roy’s face came into view.

Roy ran over to Edward and embraced him, longing every second of it. Roy held him back to get a better look and Edward hid his face away. He pulled back and laid in the corner, his only friend. This wasn’t happening, it was too good to be true. His mind was playing tricks on him after months and months of suffering. Tears slid from his eyes as the “imaginary” Roy tried getting near him once more. He had to fight off what he thought was there, there was no way this was happening. “Ed, quit it! It’s me, you are safe now. I’m here, I’m sorry it took so long for us to find you. We though they may have taken you somewhere far away to some other labs across the desert.”

Edward couldn’t believe what he was hearing, didn’t his mind know this was too painful? Why play some trick now? What if it was real though and he was just being stupid? “This isn’t real, I’m not going to believe it, I can’t. Months have passed and Roy never came, no one has.”

Roy sighed and closed his eyes then took his hand and slapped Edward hard across the face. “Believe I’m here now?” Roy asked as he pulled a blanket from the bed and covered Edward. He pulled the young man into his arms and quickly as he could run and get out of this god forsaken house. “Ed keep quiet while I try to get us out of here. I’m sorry I slapped you but it was the only way I knew to snap you out of it.” He kissed Edward on the forehead and made his way down the stairs. Making a quick dash for the basement stairs and down them. He got Edward out of the house and signaled Alphonse back over.

“Al, you make sure around every corner is safe before we dart into the open. No one needs to see us, especially him,” Roy looked down to the bundle in his arms and smirked. Edward glared at him before laying against the strong chest. Alphonse ran to the first corner and once it was safe, signaled both towards a alleyway up ahead. This wasn’t going to be easy especially with Edward like he was and the weight weighing Roy down.

“We’re almost there Colonel Mustang, just a few blocks away.” Alphonse peered around another corner and made a run for the other huge alleyway that led their way to freedom.

Before moving once more, Roy leaned against a wall to catch his breath. He smiled as he looked at Edward who was asleep against his chest. The car came into sight and they made a mad dash for it. Roy put Edward into the backseat and got into the drivers seat. Alphonse threw himself in the passenger side and they rode back to the house as quick as the car would allow.

Once the car pulled into the driveway, Roy pulled Edward from the back and safely carried him inside. Alphonse settled himself into the armchair as Roy laid Edward on the couch. “Al, call headquarters ad watch how you code the words. The lines are possibly tapped, Riza is awaiting the call and knows of everything. Give me a report when the call is finished.” Alphonse nodded and made his way to the phone while Roy took care of Edward.

Roy shook the blonde awake and looked into the golden orbs. “Ed, what went on in Hakuro’s house?”

Edward suppressed himself and paused, looking for an answer in Roy’s onyx eyes. Roy would never dare hurt him, but what if he was just passed off like some common mutt? Like dirt or scum off of someone’s shoe? He paused all thinking and sighed “h-he raped me, chained me, and even held me down when I wasn’t chained.” Edward sank into the depths of the couch and hugged his knees close to his chest.

This perturbed Roy to no end as he watched the blonde drag himself into the fetal position. It was a sad thing to see and it hurt Roy to no end. The babies were left in the military’s hands or worse and his husband was broken it seemed. Edward never cried and that was something he was showing at that moment. It had taken them months to find Edward and even now it got them nowhere. December wasn’t far off and snow would be falling from the sky sooner than known.

Running could be heard from upstairs as the younger sandy blonde haired teen bounded down the stairs. He approached Roy and announced “Hawkeye and Breda will be here shortly to discuss the whereabouts of Rayne and Nathan. They have possibly found them. Hakuro apparently trusted Fuery with some information and it leaked back to Breda.”

Roy nodded and looked back towards Edward, who seemed to be sleeping no doubt. “When Riza and Heymans get here just let them in. We don’t need any unwanted attention.” Roy spoke un hushed tones as Alphonse bowed. Roy picked Edward up and laid the blonde in his lap, waiting for Riza and Heymans to show.

It wasn’t long before a car pulled in and doors could be heard shutting. Boots clanked up the walkway and porch and Alphonse let them right in. Both hurried inside and Alphonse gathered their coats and hats. Riza sat in the chair across from the couch and Breda took a seat beside Roy, Edward still asleep in his lap. Riza looked over and handed Roy a thick folder of information.

“Sir, there are many pictures of two young babies that match the description Alphonse gave us a month ago in the office. It seems as though experimentations have been performed on them. If you will take some time and look over some of the photos and information, maybe we can put a close to where they are.” Roy dreading what his children, if them, looked like. He picked up one of the many photos and nearly gasped as the girl resembled Rayne. His fears were pulled in further as a boy came into another photo and indeed looked like Nathan.

He passed the folder back to Riza and only could nod. “Are you sure sir?” Another nod was met with the question. “Well the plan is a seek and rescue mission then. Just as you did for Edward, we will do for the babies. We’ll carefully enter the vicinity and rescue the babies, hopefully everything goes smoothly.” Riza explain as she pulled herself up from the chair. “We must be heading out then. We will report to you when the mission has been successful.” Riza bowed and Breda followed close behind.

“I’m very sorry sir for what has occurred to both Edward and your babies. Hopefully they will grow up to be very great kids.” Breda spoke in a hushed tone as he and Riza gathered their things and stepped outside. Alphonse closing the door quickly as he could.

“Alphonse, it won’t be easy to break this to Ed. Give it a day before anything is said, I need time for everything to sink in before I tell him.” Roy sighed as he pulled Edward to his chest and kissed the top of his lovers’ head. ‘God Ed what are we going to do? They already were going to have a hard enough life let alone this now.’
