Chapter 6

I was sitting safely in Roy Mustangs car in the front passenger seat we were heading for his home about twenty minutes away or so I thought. Alphonse sat in the backseat but of course I made no indication he was there. I had been looking out the passenger side window for along time happily watching the trees wiz past I had the light tanned color seatbelt harness strung across my lap my golden braid was resting over my shoulder it was about nine am now and I am not staring at a white ceiling. “So Edward I was thinking how about we stop by a few stores before we get to my house then have lunch out. Then do a bit more shopping go to dinner then we shall go home?” His voice came over to me from the divers side he stopped at a red light in the right hand lane. “How about it?” He wondered looking over at me.
I turn to look at him and give him a big beaming smile, “That sounds awesome I’d like to do that thank you,” I giggle I couldn’t help it I was just so excited.
“Well alright then if you want to change out of those nice clothes I did by you some more comfortable clothes you could wear in the mall.” Roy said and pointed with his thumb behind him the bag was on the floor behind the driver’s side.
It was a tall black bag, “Oh ok thank you” I say and reach behind the seat and pull the bag up onto my lap then set it between my legs on the floor. I reach in and there was a black sleeveless shirt with a high collar with white lining around it there was a small zipper that could be used to zip it up the center. I start to unbutton my blue shirt Mustang was watching me there was a honking of the horn.
“Oh woops,” Roy chuckled and turned right as the light was green.
“Gez Roy take a picture it last a lot longer,” I tease him and he laughed.

“Sorry its just I am so happy your out of there too and actually going home with me” Roy said now with his eyes on the road.
“Eh I don’t care I am just joking with you,” I say and pull the blue shirt off and put the blue shirt in the back seat the cool air brushes over my nude chest I shiver a bit then I pull the black sleeveless shirt on and zip it up. Then I look into the bag there is black jeans and I undo my black slacks then slip my shoes off my feet and pull the pants off from under the harness across my lap. I take them off of my feet then put the slacks in the back seat then put my feet in the jeans and unbuckled my seat belt quickly and slid my pants over my waste and then buttoned them up and zipped them. I then bent over and looked into the bag there was a black long sleeved shirt that had a metal latch that snapped at a little below the neck I put that on then there was a shoe box in there and some socks. “Wow you bought me a whole out fit,” I say happily.
“Yeah well considering you don’t have anything” Roy shrugged, “Being your new provider I knew I needed to at lest have some clothes for you and if you wanted to go shopping I had some more comfortable street clothes for you.”
“Well thank you so much” I say and slide off the nice black shoes and the black socks and put them in the back on the floor then I get the white socks and pull them on then open the box there was nice brown boots I pull them out and put them on and bend over and tie them. Under the shoe box was something red and a little box I tilt my head to the side I take the box out of the bag and pull the red something out. It was a jacket a very nice jacket and it had my family’s symbol on the back it had a hood and pockets on the outside and on the in and it had a slit up the middle. “Wow this is fancy and very thoughtful of you Mustang.” I say then reach down into the box and pull out the purple box it was the size of my hand. “And your giving me even more gifts?” I say feeling a little over whelmed by all of this.
“Of course but it’s a very practical thing,” Roy said as he drove onto the on ramp for the highway. “Well go ahead and open it,” He urges me.
“Ok,” I say and pull the top off and inside was a very pretty real silver pocket watch and it had a dragon carved into the middle of it on the back it said Edward Elric’s it was engraved I pop open the watch and on the inside it has my symbol again. “Wow Doctor Mustang this is very beautiful” I say holding the pocket watch in my metal hand, “Thank you so much” I said and it was set on the right time and everything already. I felt my self getting teary damn emotions I thought and brought my metal fist to my eye and rubbed them.


“Aw why are you crying?” He wondered and reached over and rubbed my leg softly.
“Cause I am so happy its just a very weird emotion that I am feeling, I am happy yet I cry” I try explaining myself the best I could.
“Well sometimes that happens Edward,” Roy chuckled and rubbed my leg a little bit more then took his hand back and put it on the stirring wheel as we drove down the highway at 65 miles an hour. “Well those clothes look very nice on you when we get to the mall I want to see what the jacket looks like on you.”
“Alright” I say smiling my heart was beating so happily I never felt so loved and cared for in my life before. After about twenty minutes we finally get to the mall it was a pretty big mall with three stories the outside of the entrance had light brown bricks stacked up over the twelve glass doors above it read The Central Mall. This was the biggest mall around people would drive or fly from far away just to come here. There was plenty of restaurants in this area to choose from as well. The Sun was making the sky a nice bright blue now and it was nine twenty in the morning this mall stayed opened twenty four seven.


“Whelp here we are,” Mustang declared not that this wasn’t obvious but oh well I thought he turned right and drove down the lane of cars and got a spot half way toward the front.
“Yeah this place is huge,” I say and unbuckle my seat belt and open the door and get out Alphonse fallows me. Then I walk around the van we had parked next too the air was nice and mild as well I had the coat draped over my arm.
Roy got out as well, “Ok Edward let me see you in your coat.” Roy said putting his hands in his pockets he had removed his lab coat so now he was wearing a black t-shirt and his white doctor pants and had put his wallet in his pack pocket and put his keys in one of his front pockets.
“Oh yeah I almost forgot” I say giving him a big beaming smile I slid my left arm into my sleeve then slid my right arm in and pull the nice jacket over my shoulders. I pull my braid from inside the coat and let it rest on my hood. “Well how dose it look?” I wonder and give a spin with my arms spread out.
“It looks very good on you, and you look very handsome,” Roy said with a happy smile on his face which makes me feel happy as well. “Now Edward I know there will be a lot of people here if it becomes to over whelming at any point even in the parking lot just tell me and we will go home and we can order take out for lunch instead ok?” He wondered coming over and placing his hands on my shoulders and looked me in the eye with a serious gaze.
“Alright,” I say looking up at him with my golden eyes my bangs blew in my face as I did this I brought my right hand up and tried to get it out of my face. “I will you can count on me I won’t freak out ok don’t worry.”
“Even if someone calls you short?” Roy wondered to me, I put my hands down at my sides and clinched my teeth I think my face turned red as well. “Edward stop that right now get a hold of yourself.”
“I…I Just hate that damn bloody word that is all,” I say my bangs fall more into my face, “Because I am not a pint sized pip squeak!” I snapped up at Mustang who sighs.
“Edward no one said that to you what did I say were you listing to me?” Roy wondered and brought my chin up to meet his black eyes as I was looking down getting pissed.
“Yes I was you. You asked me what if someone called me s s s… Ah you know!” I grunt and stomp my foot yes I was still crazy but intelligent and dangerous as I have control over my mind so I could get out of there. Out of that Hospital and be free again to be who I am. I know I needed to chill out if I didn’t want to go back right away and let Mustang down.

“Come on Edward please clam down you must be good,” Roy says and pets the side of my face and my head because I like it when he pets my head believe it or not it helps greatly then he pulled me into his chest with my cheek against his chest and he put protective arms around me. This was also something he had been doing to try and get me to clam down from my dangerous violent out bursts. He bent his head down some and whispered in my ear. “Are you ready to clam down and go into the mall or do you want me to just take you home?” He wondered softly. “Or I can let you ride your tantrum out in my arms right here its up to you.”
I was still trying to clam down and I stomped my feet a few more times and had a little spasm in Roy’s arms where I hit him lightly with my flesh arm yes being called short or little just oh it pissed me or when people teased me I hated it. I can’t stand being made fun off I just don’t tolerate it or someone telling me stupid things I don’t want to hear. I growled a bit in Roy’s chest and clutched hold of his shirt then I feel his finger tips brushed over my head his voice finally broke through. The dark shadow that had fallen around my head seemed to have lifted I notice my face is against Roy’s chest my head was hurting a little. “I… I’ll be good you can let go of me now I won’t hurt anyone.” I say and bring my face to look up at Roy some who looked down at me I was feeling a bit clammy though.
“Alright Edward,” Roy said and let me go the air felt a bit refreshing on my cheek he then took my hand “Come along then, actually here I’d like you to hold my hand since there is a lot of people.” Roy tells me as we walk around the van his car and the van gave us privacy.
“Sounds good to me,” I say feeling some what nervous about being around all these people but I wanted to have fun my first day out with Roy so I wasn’t going to let a bunch of strangers ruin it for me. We walked across the parking lot and onto the side walk Roy comes to one of the glass doors and pulls it open and I go in and he fallows then I open the next glass door for him he walked through.
Then a elderly lady walked in as well, “Why thank you aren’t you a nice young lad.” She chuckled and shuffled on her way.
I then slipped inside the door before anyone else could say or come in and I took Roy’s hand again. “Wow so many people.” I say as I look at people going in and out of the shops all along the half mile stretch of mall. There was many clothing stores, jewelry stores, sporting good stores, Shops with nice smelling soaps and perfumes for women there was a Tux Shop and Interments store and art display shop. There was a bank and a dentist in this mall as well. There was day care and a swimming area. They also had a pet store in this mall. The food court was huge with three different burger places. Four Pizza shops three Chinese shops. There was cookie shop and a pretzel shop candy shop and Ice cream parlor.

“Like I said Edward if this is to over whelming we can always go…” Roy went to tell me again.
“No I am fine I am fine,” I smile up at him “This is nice its better then the normal routine so please lead the way.” I say giving him another nice big smile and he nodded and smiled back and we started off down the hallway through a sea of people I look behind me and Alphonse is fallowing me I give him a wink before turning around to watch where I am going kind of since Roy was leading me by the hand.
“Yeah well I bet so,” Roy said and went to the glass elevator in the center of the mall that had two benches on either side of it with green plants ground around it the floor was a dark blue tiled floor. Roy pushed the buttoned and the elevator came down and the door opened and five people stepped out and Roy and I stepped in and were alone the door slid shut he hit the button for the second floor.
I let go of Roy’s hand and look out the window as we go up to the second floor and the bottom floor got a bit smaller. “Wow this is so high up,” I chuckled the door dings open and Roy takes my hand I turn around and fallow him out as a mother with a large stroller rolls into the elevator.
“Ah there are higher places to go then in this mall” Roy assured me with a chuckle and we walked to a clothing store called Mens Fashion. We walked into the little shop. “This is wear I normally shop they have clothes as well for children your size.” He said leading me toward round rack of clothes. I know I was once again claming down from Roy’s damn comment.
“Oh I see,” I nodded “Can I let go of your hand in here?” I wondered as he was looking through a pair of jeans on the metal rack.
“Oh yes I suppose so go ahead and see if you like any shirts but don’t you leave this shop without me you got it young man?” Roy said turning to look at me again with his serious expression and he gripped my hand.
I look up at him, “I got it I got it,” I say and he let my hand go then went back to sorting through the jeans. “By the way my fave colors are red….” He cut me off.
“Edward sweetheart I know remember I bought you all of those clothes knowing they were your favorites I know you like blue too so don’t worry.” Roy said smiling at me and picked out some nice black jeans that had a little flare at the bottom.
I smile back up at him, “Oh right of course” I chuckle then walked away to the shirt rack across the shop. There was a red short sleeve t-shirt that I liked so I picked that out and then I walked over to a silky button up black short sleeved shirt and picked that up I put that over my arm. I saw a blue sleeveless shirt that I liked so I got that. Then I picked along sleeved brown cotton button up shirt it was a pretty shade of brown the sleeved flared at the bottoms. I then walked back over to Roy who had three pairs of blue jeans now over his arms the black flared jeans and some khakis along with some blue and black shorts. “So do you want me to get some socks and underpants as well?” I wondered looking up at him.
“Yes that would be good but you can try these things on first,” Roy said and walked around the shorts rack to the counter where the male clerk was standing I fallowed behind him.

“Hi My son would like to try on these clothes.” He said to the man who nodded and took out the key and lead us to the changing rooms. “Can we get the handicap room?” He wondered to the man who nodded again and unlocked the door that was for wheel chair people he pushed it open and Roy walked in and I fallowed behind him. Roy hung the jeans on a few of the racks I shut the door behind us. Then Roy pushed me against the corner of the wall and started giving me hot kisses. They were soft and quiet this was making me jump to life this was so hot it sent my mind into a tingle kissing like this right in a public place. “Sorry sexy I wanted to do that to you when I saw you in the jacked in the parking lot” He said whispering this in my ear.
“Yeah well its ok,” I say my lips felt swollen now and I was pretty hot in my pants thought luckily I didn’t get quiet a boner so I was glad about that.
“Alright baby try on these clothes,” he said and helped me take off my coat.
I tried on all the clothes and they fit me pretty well and made some nice outfits and Roy was pleased with how it looked and so was I. We came out of the dressing room and walked back over to the clerk. Roy set the stuff down on the counter then took the shirts from my hand and set them down.
“Will there be anything else.” This man had brown shirt hair and brown eyes and was kind of over weight it seemed he was staring at me.
“Ah yes there is so please hold these here for us,” Roy said the man nodded though he was just staring at me it seemed.
“So how are you today?” The clerk asked me trying to be friendly. I took hold of Roy’s hand quickly.
“Just fine” I say looking to the side I didn’t like the look in his eye he was giving me as if he was undressing me with them or something I stepped closer to Roy.
“That is good, I bet you think its really sweet your dad buying you clothes and going out together probably makes you feel happy huh?” Why was this clerk even talking to me I wondered to myself but oh well I suppose I need to practices social skills sometime.
“Um yes, yes I feel very extremely pleased that my um erm dad would be so nice,” I say looking up at Roy who gave me a reassuring wink.
“Well come on Edward lets finishes this up and we can go to another store.” Roy said and pulled me away from the Clerk who had given me a wink and did some kind of provocative thing with his tongue running it over his lips like he wanted to lick something on me or something. I frown and turn around as Roy and I walk over to the tall shelf of boxers and socks and belts.

“I don’t like that man,” I whisper to Mustang as he let my hand go again and picked five pack of boxers one was green one was blue one was black one was red one was purple they would all be silky.
“Ah Edward you don’t even know him I thought he was being very nice to you,” Roy said not looking down at me as he picked up a packet of twenty four socks of white and black. Then he picked me out two brown belts and a black one.
“Yeah I know but he is a pervert,” I added as he handed me the belts and the socks to hold then he picked up a pack of white t-shirts.
“Edward how would you know that?” Roy wondered to me turning to look down at me with a hand on his hips.
“Oh I don’t know the way he licked his lips and winked at me like I was his next meal sort of gave it away.” I say with a shrugging .

“Edward stop over reacting I am sure its not what you thought,” Roy said tapping his foot sounding annoyed.
“No it was what I thought, but alright I suppose there isn’t anything you could do anyways not that you saw it of course you have to see it to believe it right?” I wondered since of course Roy couldn’t see Alphonse so why would he believe this.
Roy sighed “Well we will just get these last things and be out of this store and you’ll never have to see him again alright,” he wondered putting a hand on my golden head to stroke it and clam me down again he rubbed his hand over my face. “Breath” he said to me softly “its ok I am here no one is going to get you ok?”
I take in a few breaths and let them out I was close to going back over there and grabbing that man by the shirt caller and asked him if he had some kind of problem. “Ok I understand,” I nodded to Roy who then took my hand and lead me back to the counter.
“I’ll take care of it,” He added and came up to the counter and stopped and set the undergarments down. I stepped behind Roy so I didn’t have to look at him anymore and I put my face in Roy’s back and held onto his shirt.

“So will this be all sir?” I hear the clerk ask Roy.
“Yes that is all,” Roy answered him.
“Aw what is wrong with the child don’t be shy,” I hear the man saying I didn’t want to look into those eyes anymore. He was ringing things up as he said all of this stuff. “It’s a shame your hiding such a cute face.” He added out loud seeming to try and be a nice person though to me he sounded evil and lustful.
“How about you just focus on ringing me up and not worry about what my son is doing huh?” Roy wondered “I don’t want to be in here all day.” He crossed his arms and tapped his foot.
“Oh yes of course sorry sir” the man said sounding a bit nervously and chuckled and got the total rung up. “That will be one hundred and twenty dollars.”
Wow I thought that added up to a lot and Mustang was still planning on buying me other things I felt bad about that. “Alrighty then” Mustang chuckled he looked back at me over his shoulder. “Hey could you get my wallet out of my back pocket for me while your back there?” He wondered.
I chuckled a bit to “yeah sure,” I say and slid my hand into his pocket and brought out the brown leather wallet and handed it to him.
“Thank you” Roy said and turned back around and took out his cards and paid for the clothes. The man then put them in bags.
“Well its to bad you have such a shy son he should show his face more often that is all that I am saying about that.” The clerk went on to say as he finished packing up the clothes.
“Good, you know I really hate creeps who eye children don’t you?” Mustang wondered drumming his fingers on the counter top. “I mean in a sexual like way.” I never really though about Roy like this being a perverted creep eyeing me like candy even though he was many years older then me. It just seemed different when this guy did it compared to Roy who I believe really loves me.
“Oh I um uh yeah of course those people sure are scum!” I peaked around Roy to see him holding the bags up for Roy to take.
“You know sometimes it just makes me want to,” he brought his hand up and snapped it making red sparks jump from them but he didn’t shoot it he was able to just make one little red spark. “Burn them to a crisp,” I watched the man jump and bit and shivered nervously.
“Yeah of course well here you go have a nice day,” the man said practically shoving the plastic bags at Roy who took them and smiled.
“Ah well thank you and you be sure and do the same,” Roy said speaking in a deeper colder tone then took the clothes and put his arm around me and ushered me out of the store.
“Wow you know Alchemy?” I wondered happily to Roy.
“Yes,” Roy answered me and we walked toward the CD and movie store next, “I was once known in the military as The Flame Alchemist,” he tells me and walked into the store. “Go head and pick out a few movies you want to get and here carry one of these bags” he added and I took the clothes bag and smiled.
“Oooo you were an Alchemist in the military at one point very interesting you’ll have to tell me more about that sometime.” I say lifting my eye brows up and down. “I love Alchemy,” I tell him.
Roy cleared his throat a bit, Alchemy was what got me in trouble in the first place is what I am sure he was thinking. “I know you do Ed anyways go ahead and pick out some movies.” He said and patted me on the back.
“Ok” I smile and walked over to some of the movie side of the store and he had gone to look at some CDs.
Alphonse was behind me as I went. “Get something good maybe a suspense movie that would be good” Alphonse’s suggested.
“Hmm Yeah that could work I like action and funny movies too.” I say looking up at Alphonse who was looking down at me.
“Yeah those would be good too,” He nodded.
“How about a horror film?” I wondered looking up at Alphonse.
“That wouldn’t be such a smart Idea big brother.” Alphonse said shaking his head and putting his large metal hands up.
“Ah come on don’t tell me your being a woos,” I say and pick up a horror slash movie. I look over to my right there was someone staring at me as I had a conversation with thin air. “What are you staring at never seen a guy trying to think of what of movies he likes?” I wondered the guy shook his head and walked away quickly. “Annoying bastard” I muttered to myself then picked up a horror ghost story murder mystery.
“Edward,” Alphonse scolded me, “That isn’t nice, and I am sure The doctor won’t approve of the horror films anyways.” I got two action movies and some comedies to add to my pile then walked over to Roy.
“Well I am ready” I say cheerily and he nodded he had some classical CDs in his hand.
“Alright then, lets go” Roy said happily and walked away from the CD rack and walked to the counter with the CDs and then had me put the movies up on the counter as well. The man started to scan the CDs the did the dramas and comedies then when he did the first scary one there was a beeping saying the movie needed an I.D. Roy sighed “Edward we aren’t getting these movies. Sorry sir just clear that and don’t ring up the next of course” he said seeing the bloody words on the next case.
“Ok then” the guy said in a friendly tone “Then that will be eighty nine dollars.” The clerk said Mustang gave him the card.
“Aw come on Roy why can’t I get those?” I demanded to know feeling a bit put off I wanted the scary movies it made me mad that Alphonse was so right about all of this.

“Edward you know full well why you can’t they aren’t good for your mind,” Roy sighed and then took the card back from the man.

“Ah come on please Roy, it won’t do anything to my mind I can tell the difference between reality and fantasy really I can!” I said trying to convince him the movies did look really good and sounded good from what I read on the back.
“Edward stop arguing with Mustang already Gez its not that big of a deal.” Alphonse warns me.
“Ah shut up I hope your happy,” I say and cross my arms and pout then realized what it seemed like I had said it seemed like I said shut up to Roy.
Roy took the bag from the clerk and yanked my hand from being crossed and tugged me out of the store. “You better learn to respect me fast young man.” Roy said between clinched teeth. “Also you better behave and you have no right to tell me to shut up don’t make me spank you stop acting like a spoiled brat.” He demanded of me as we walked toward the next store he had wanted to go to which was a video game store which was awesome I thought.
“Fine sorry,” I say to Roy as we walk into the shop.
“Well as along as your sorry its ok so long as you respect me from now on.” Roy said to me as we stopped walking and walked over to the high shelves of games.
“Oh so you have a video game console?” I wondered excitedly and kept on looking up at him now forgetting about him treating to spank me or calling me a brat as this was a day I really didn’t want to ruin.
“Yes, I have a Ps2 and I have Xbow360 so go ahead and pick out a few games and so you know rated T and below are the only games your aloud to get.” Roy said to me.
“Ok” I nodded and found a few racing games and a few fighting games where two people could fight each other. Roy bought these for me and we went to a few more stores tell it was noon and I was pretty hungry so we went to the bottom floor and went to the food court. There was a lot of people in the food court I had chosen Pizza for lunch so we got two piece of pepperoni pizza and I got water and so did Roy.
We sat down in one of the round tables with three chairs we set our trays down. “Well I’d say we got pretty much all the shopping we needed to do done.” Roy said contently as we both sat down.” So hopefully we won’t have to come back for awhile I am glad we got done sooner then I thought.”
“Yeah me too all these people are giving me a headache.” I say then pick up my pizza and bring it to my mouth and bite into the hot yummy melted cheesy goodness. “Mmmm this is sooo good greasy pizza its so good” I say as I chew it enjoying the taste.
“Well glad its so good,” Roy chuckled then he reached into his pants pocket and pulled out a orange pill bottle that had my name on it. He unscrewed the lid and tapped out the white pill I always took for breakfast lunch and dinner. “Here you go,” He said setting the pill down on my tray.
I took another bite of my pizza and looked down at the pill wearily, “Ah do I have too?”
“Edward you know you do how many times do I have to explain this you’re a very, very intelligent young man so stop asking me that all the time.” Roy said and then ate some more of his pizza. I sighed and popped the pill into my mouth and drank it down with my water then ate more pizza.
We ate in silence for a little while then I spoke up still wanting to know about Roy’s military days. “So what rank in the military are you and how long where you in it and how come you quit?” I wondered eagerly as I finished my water.

“Well I was colonel I was in the army since I was eighteen I retired at thirty I had become a colonel at the age of twenty five and had been colonel for five years I almost made General. I decided I’d rather be a doctor though had been going to collage to be a doctor the whole time I was in the military of course when I was twenty four I started looking into helping the mental patients while of course still running my branch of the military. I declined the Generals rank at thirty and stayed with my doctors practices which is what I really wanted to do in the first place the military helped pay for that. I also had gotten my state Alchemist license at the age of nineteen and had been pretty high ranking through out my military career was Captain, Sergeant, Lt then of course Colonel.” Roy then stopped telling me the story as my eyes seemed to glow.
“Well that is very amazing I am so pleased you have been able to do so well in your life. So my crazy murmuring was right so long ago when I called you colonel?” I wondered leaning back and crossing my arms.
“Hmm yes that is true it was odd how you knew that of me I must say that is interesting,” Roy said then dipped the napkin in the water and whipped my face off of the pizza sauce I was use to him doing these things for me he had done them for the last two years. He then closed up the napkin and stood up and picked up the tray and walked to the trash can and threw it away. “How about the two of use just go back to my house and I’ll make you stake I have some at the house along with potatoes. I am sure your tired of all this shopping?”
I stood up as well, “Yes sir I am I am ready to go home.” Roy nodded, “Alright then come along grab some of those bags for me will you?” I nodded and picked up some of the bags and he took some and we walked out of the mall by now it was nice and warm outside and there was many people going into the mall. We walked across the parking lot tell we got to Roy’s car he unlocked it we walked over to it he opened the back door on my side of the car and put the clothes in and then took my bags and put mine in.
Then shut the back door and opened my door for me, “Here you go Edward” he said pleasantly.
“Thanks” I say and Alphonse had gotten in and sat in the middle then I sat down in the passengers seat Roy shut the door. I buckled my seat belt and he came around and got in and buckled his seat belt and started the car and drove out of the mall and headed back to the high way it was a twenty minute drive to Roy’s house.
Or I should say to my new home I couldn’t wait to see what it looked like.
