Chapter 6
Trunks watched Laina as she slept. He knew now, without a doubt that they were meant to be together. But he also knew that although Laina felt the same, she was going to try to fight it. He could feel her uncertainty and confusion. Their lovemaking was beyond the physical. It was the only way he could think of to prove that she meant a lot to him. He frowned at the thought that she may look at it as a quick fuck, not to be taken too seriously. Women were confusing.
Laina woke up slowly. She saw Trunks staring at her, his face a mask of confusion. She wanted to laugh, but restrained herself. She wound her arm around his neck and pulled him close for a kiss.
“ Want to take a shower?” she asked.
Trunks nodded and they both rose from the bed and went to her bathroom. They took a long, hot shower. Long only because they made love again under the hot spray. She loved soaping his body, her hands sliding across his hard muscles and smooth, tanned skin. She gave him pleasure as he had shown her earlier, by loving his length and worshipping him with her mouth. He groaned his release into her throat and she swallowed every sweet drop.
They finished their shower, dressed and left the bedroom. The house was still devoid of her children. She decided to take inventory of her kitchen, as she thought that she might as well go grocery shopping. Trunks went to the bathroom and retrieved his jacket. He pulled on his boots and his jacket. He went to the kitchen to tell Lainat hat he was going to survey the damage of his ship.
“ Laina? I’m going outside to see about my ship-” he said and then stopped when he felt her ki spike.
Laina started to feel panicky. She was sure that Trunks wanted to leave right away. She smiled instead, hoping that she hid her feelings from him. “ Well, I suppose that would be a good idea. See if it can be repaired. I mean, it wasn’t like you intended to come here and you probably want to leave soon.” Her breath hitched a bit after her speech.
Trunks pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head. He leaned down to her ear and said in a low, calm voice,” Laina? I’m not in any hurry to go anywhere. I want to check my ship because I’m going to dismantle it. I want to stay. With you.” He squeezed her as tias has he could without causing her any damage. Laina squeezed him back with all her strength, which surprised him. She was stronger than he at first thought.
He looked deep in her eyes, willing her to feel him, his thoughts and feelings. He kissed her, sweet and slow. Then he pulled away and went out the kitchen door. Laina took a deep shuddering breath and then smiled a true smile of happiness. *He’s staying. With me.*
Trunks walked around the side of the house and saw his ship. In the light of day, it was easier to see how much damage there really was. Even if he had wanted to leave, it would probably take longer than a few months, if at all. He opened the door and reached in. He rummaged around until he found his gear. He checked the bags to make sure everything he needed was inside. He closed the door. Then he encapsulated the ship. His mother had decided to build this ship with that ability, as a precaution against anyone using it for more nefarious purposes. He would dismantle the ship later. He tucked the capsule in one of his bags and headed for the house.
He walked in to the sound of a stereo cranking out music. Loudly. It was Laina. She was sitting at the dining room table writing on a tablet, her head bobbing to the music. Trunks noticed that she was singing along with the music also. She had a lot of…enthusiasm. He wanted to laugh. As if sensing his presence, liftlifted her head from the tablet and flashed him a wicked smile and then went back to her writing and singing. He laughed then. He couldn’t help it.
“ You can put your bags in my room, Trunks. If you want.” Said Laina, not looking up from the tablet. “ There’s plenty of room in the dresser and the closet.”
Trunks went through the hallway, passed the room he slept in the night before. He noticed that the futon was made up. He went to Laina’s room. He opened and unpacked his bags, putting his clothes in the dresser. He put his bags in the closet. He decided to change his clothes.
Laina saw him come into the room a few minutes later. He looked yummy. Trunks had changed into a pair of faded jeans that hugged his thighs, showing his muscles very well. He was also wearing a dark navy thermal Henley shirt. He changed his shoes also, wearing a pair of white athletic shoes.
“ What are the plans for today?” Trunks asked.
“ Well, I thought I should go grocery shopping. I usually do my errands on Saturdays. I also thought that maybe you would like to come along?” Laina replied.
Trunks nodded his assent and they headed out the door. Lily was just coming back to the house, so she went along with them.

The grocery store was as active as could be on a Saturday. Trunks was amazed at the variety of things available for purchase. He was also rather fond of the samples thate oue out. Laina and Lily had to pull him away from more than a few of them.
Laina hadn’t heard Lily laugh so much in such a long time. She was also surprised by the fact that she felt happier herself. She was a little irked though by some of the more...forward women. One would think that they had never seen such a good-looking man before. Not that she was jealous or anything, but still...they should be ashamed of themselves.
They had turned down the cereal aisle, Lily and Trunks chatting about their favorite cereal, when Lily had suddenly stopped talking in the middle of a sentence. Laina looked up from the box she was reading to see what had distracted Lily when she saw Ronald.
