It was a beautiful sunlit morning. The sun’s rays graced the land before it with all of its morning glory as birds and critters began moving around at the start of a new day. However, light and heavy snoring came from a couple of wolves that were still sleeping in a tree high in the branches. One of them rolled over to get more comfortable, but fell out of the tree instead and hit the ground face first. A painful yelp was heard throughout the forest and woke the other heavily snoring wolf. Kakarot sat up from his perch on a branch and rubbed his eyes. He yawned and stretched before looking around to see what made that noise. His unasked question was answered when he heard a moan from below. He looked down to see Vegeta struggling to get up from the harsh impact he made with the ground. The cub looked at the other in question then jumped down from his sleeping spot and landed gracefully next to him.
Kakarot held out a hand to the other to help him up. Vegeta glanced at the hand tiredly then grasped it in his own and pushed himself up. Kakarot easily lifted Vegeta into a standing position. He hissed in mock pain when he saw thorns littered the front of Vegeta’s clothing. Vegeta looked down at himself and tried not to move. “Damn it all.” He grumbled. He landed in a thorn patch.
Kakarot held out a hand in front of him in a signal to stop him. “Don’t move.” He slipped a hand underneath Vegeta’s shirt and pulled it away from him so the thorns wouldn’t dig into his skin any more than they already were. He brushed off as much as he could then ordered Vegeta to take it off. Vegeta carefully did as he was told then handed it to the cub. Kakarot took the shirt and shook it out while brushing off the thistles. He shook it out a little more and inspected it to see if it was thorn free before giving it back to Vegeta. “Take off your pants too.” He said as he eyed the garments.
Vegeta looked down at them. “No, it’s alright. They’re fine.” He brushed them off some. “See, there’s hardly any on them.” He sighed in exhaustion then placed his hands on his back so he could pop it. He groaned painfully then looked up at the branch he fell from. “Ugh, I didn’t get any sleep. How ‘bout you?” He looked at the other.
Kakarot sighed then shrugged. “Some. I believe the exhaustion is catching up to me.”
Vegeta shook his head. “Not me.” He went to stretch then gasped when he felt a sharp pain in his hip. He looked down to see a deep cut as blood oozed out of it. How come he didn’t notice that when he took off his shirt? He lifted his shirt a little and pushed down his pants some to look at it better. “Damn it. How did I do that?” He looked up at the branch again as if it were the culprit.
Kakarot sniffed the air a moment then looked down to see Vegeta’s knife lying on the ground. He bent down and picked it up. “Um, Vegeta?” He handed it to him once Vegeta eyed it.
“Fuck.” He shook his head and wiped off his blood that was on it and put it back where it was supposed to be.
Kakarot looked down at the cut with worry. “Here, let me take a look at it.” He moved to Vegeta’s side, but the other moved away.
“It’s fine. It’s just a little cut.” He winced when he tried covering it up.
Kakarot scowled at the half breed. “No it’s not. It’s a big, deep cut. It could get infected, especially by that knife that you use on a daily basis.” He gestured towards it.
Vegeta rolled his eyes. “It’ll be fine. I’ll just rinse it out until it stops bleeding.” He started walking towards the stream that was nearby when he was stopped.
“No. That could make it worse. The bacteria in the stream could infect it.” Kakarot explained.
Vegeta eyed him tiredly. “Then what am I supposed to do?”
Kakarot pulled him towards him. “Let me see it.”
Vegeta let the younger guide him to stand sideways, the cut facing him. Kakarot kneeled down so that the cut was eye level and moved Vegeta’s shirt and pants aside. He leaned forward, attempting to lick the wound until Vegeta pulled away. “Wait. What are you doing?”
Kakarot avoided the other’s gaze and sighed in frustration. “I’m going to clean it! Now hold still.” He leaned forward again, but Vegeta pulled away.
“Wait, wait, now. You don’t need to do that.” Vegeta said a little uneasily.
Kakarot growled in annoyance. “Vegeta, hold still! My saliva has healing properties. Not only will it clean the wound but it’ll heal it as well.
Vegeta eyed him suspiciously. “Thanks, but it’ll heal on its own.” He went to move away again but was held still.
“Yeah in a few hours! Plenty of time for it to get infected!” Kakarot yelled at him then tried coaxing the other that it was okay. “Look, it won’t take long. Don’t be such a baby.” He repeated the words that Vegeta told him the day before and smirked slightly.
Vegeta gave him a look of concern then sighed and gave in. “Fine! Just…hurry up and do it.” He looked away and shut his eyes.
Kakarot smiled at Vegeta’s reaction then turned his attention to the cut that was still bleeding. He grimaced at the blood, but swallowed down the bile that threatened to rise and shut his eyes as well and leaned forward with his mouth open. He quickly placed his tongue on the cut and ran it along the other’s trim hip. Vegeta gasped at the hot mouth and bit back a moan as the other’s tongue touched his skin. He kept his eyes shut however and waited until the younger pulled away. After a moment, Kakarot no longer felt the cut and pulled away. He wiped the blood away from his mouth and spit out some that made it into it. Vegeta looked down when he felt Kakarot pull away and noticed in surprise that the cut was indeed gone. All that was left was the blood that came from it. He brushed his fingers along it in disbelief a few times before he was convinced that it was healed. “Huh. Is there anything you can’t do?” He looked up at Kakarot, who stood. “Besides kill, I mean.” He smirked playfully.
Kakarot wiped his mouth again then started walking. “Your welcome.”
Vegeta situated his clothing and frowned after the other. He was about to follow when he suddenly remembered the deer hide. He looked around for it but couldn’t find it anywhere. That was when he realized it was still up in the tree. He sighed tiredly then ran for the tree and jumped into it. He leaped from branch to branch until he made it to the one he fell from. The hide was hanging on the limb when he was sleeping on it. He quickly snagged it then jumped from the branch and landed on his feet. He eyed the fur to see if it was torn. He slung it over his shoulder when he noticed it wasn’t then ran to catch up with Kakarot.

The sound of a quill scribbling across parchment was the only sound in the room as King Vegeta wrote a letter to the other lords and allies of the council, curious to know if there was any word of his son or the cub. He hasn’t left his castle since their disappearance. Not only in fear of his safety, but in fear of his men’s safety as well. He still couldn’t understand how they escaped. The cub was weak from hunger and surely from the experimental injuries that his doctors left on it. Then again, he was told that the cub healed quickly. Is it possible that it can keep its strength without eating for weeks? Perhaps it’s another mutation that the cub had, being the next generation of its kind. Then what of his son? He suspected him to be dead, but if his enemies could not find him, then perhaps…he is still alive.
The king stopped his scribbling for a moment to rest his head in his hand and sighed. His worry for his son was great. He knew what his son was and what he was capable of and that alone frightened him, but deep down, he knows that his son in there somewhere. Perhaps his worry is for nothing and his son is fine or…he could be hurt or dying somewhere without his knowledge and there wasn’t a thing that he could do to help him. He used both of his hands to rub his face to make him focus more. No, he couldn’t think like that. His son was stronger than that…definitely stronger. He wouldn’t roll over and die for a cub. He paused. Another possibility that didn’t come to mind before came into his thoughts now. What if…what if he and the cub joined forces and are now plotting to-. No…he couldn’t think like that. However, the thought wouldn’t leave his mind. What if they were helping each other? After all, if the cub escaped, why would it take his son as well? The king scoffed and leaned back in his chair. The correct question would be why not. To bring his son back to the king of beasts of course. Either that or he ate him for a midnight snack. He leaned forward in his seat and ran a hand through his flame-like hair. Perhaps…his efforts were wasted.
The king suddenly jumped when a servant came into the room. “Sire, the council wishes for you to attend a meeting.” He stopped suddenly when he noticed his king was slightly out of breath and a little panicked. “Oh, I’m sorry sire. Did I surprise you?”
The king let out a breath to calm himself then stood and waved a hand in a don’t-worry manner. “A little, but it’s only because I’ve been…a little nervous lately.” He paused to sigh, trying to think of the best word for it.
The servant bowed. “My sincere apologies, your highness. I understand your anxious state sire, but the council has sent word that they insist you attend a meeting tonight.” He stood once he finished talking.
The king scowled. “A meeting?” He thought for a moment. “Do you really think it’s a good idea to leave?”
The servant shook his head in an unsure manner. “I don’t have the answer to that, my lord. It’s whatever you think is best.”
King Vegeta thought about it a little more before making a decision. “Tell the council I will not be attending. It’s too dangerous to be outside, especially at night. That cub could still be around. Not to mention the packs that those beasts have been roaming around in. They’re still looking for their young prince.” He looked his servant in the eye. “Tell them to communicate by letter instead of in person. Fewer lives will be lost that way.”
The servant suddenly began to fidget in his place. “They…assumed you would say that sir. In that case, they wish to know what plan you have in mind for retrieving your son and capturing the cub.” He explained nervously.
The king rubbed his beard in thought until his eyes lit up when an idea hit him. “Put a price on their heads.”
The servant staggered slightly. “S-Sire?”
King Vegeta frowned. “I want a warrant out for their arrest. Put a thousand for gold on their heads. I’m sure that will get people motivated.”
The servant gulped. “D-Do you wish for them to be alive, sire?” He was afraid to ask, but curiosity got the better of him.
The king paused. “Dead or alive.”
His servant gasped in shock. “B-But sire…our prince…don’t you care if he lives or dies?”
The king sat at his desk again. “My son died a long time ago.” He answered in a morbid tone before dismissing the man.
The servant stared at his king in silent surprise then swiftly bowed and left.

“Ugh! I’m hungry again!” Kakarot exclaimed to the world.
“Shut up!” Vegeta yelled back. “Go eat another squirrel.” He gestured to one climbing a tree.
Kakarot watched the speedy critter in exhaustion. “But I’m sick of squirrel! Besides, I don’t have the energy to chase one.”
Vegeta growled in annoyance. “What do you want me to do about it?” The other cub gave him the big eyed look. “No! Not again! I’ve fallen out of trees, fallen off cliffs, and almost drowned trying to feed that never ending pit you call a stomach! Catch your own!” He pointed at said cub’s gut as he walked on.
Kakarot pouted. “I told you, I’m too weak.” He whined.
Vegeta ignored him and stomped on ahead as Kakarot dragged behind. Vegeta suddenly stopped when he saw buildings in the distance. “Look! A village! Finally!” He cried to the skies.
“What?! A village?!” Kakarot suddenly sprinted towards Vegeta and stopped next to him in a matter of seconds. The cub bounced in his excitement at the opportunity of getting more food and perhaps talking to someone else other than Vegeta.
Vegeta eyed him. “And you said you didn’t have enough energy to catch your own food?” Kakarot stopped his movements when he got found out. Vegeta scoffed and glared at him. “Now I know how you work.”
“Well, come on! What are we waiting for!” The young wolf quickly changed the subject and headed towards the village in an upbeat manner.
Vegeta followed. “Wait! Put this on.” He handed the deer hide that he’s been carrying for the past few days to Kakarot.
Kakarot eyed it suspiciously. “Do I have to?”
Vegeta sighed in irritation. “Do we really need to go over this again? Put it on!”
It was Kakarot’s turn to glare at him before snatching the fur. “Fine!” He quickly wrapped it around himself and continued heading towards the village. He pulled the fur closer around him and couldn’t help but notice how soft it was. He pet the hide a little in fascination. “Wow. This is so soft! I wonder how they keep it like this.”
“Come on! We’re almost there!” Vegeta shouted after him.
“I’m coming!” Kakarot caught up with the other as they entered the busy area.
Vegeta suddenly stopped however and eyed the people before pulling Kakarot aside behind a building. “Now listen,” He looked him in the eye and gave him a tone that an adult would give a child. “You act normal, alright? Don’t be talking to everyone around you and bring attention to ourselves. That’s the last thing we want. Just keep quiet and leave the talking to me.”
“I have a question.” Kakarot interrupted his explanation.
Vegeta rolled his eyes in irritation. “What?”
“What’s normal?” Kakarot asked innocently.
Vegeta narrowed his eyes at him. “Act like a human.” He turned his head towards the bustling humans then gestured towards them. “Look at them. Study them. Notice what they’re wearing and how they’re walking, what they do and why.”
Kakarot frowned at them. “That sounds like it’ll take some time.”
“Of course it will.” Vegeta stated matter-of-factly. “You’ve never been around humans, correct?” He waited for Kakarot’s nod then continued. “Therefore, if you want to be around them, then I suggest trying to blend in. Understand?”
The younger cub sighed, his upbeat attitude suddenly turning disappointed as he kicked the dirt on the ground. “Yeah.”
Vegeta watched him for a moment then turned his attention towards him again. “Look, no one likes rules, but we have to set some down if we don’t want these people chasing us with pitchforks and torches. Okay?” He asked gently.
Kakarot looked at the other prince sadly before nodding. “Okay.”
Vegeta gave him a small smile then patted his shoulder in a fellow manner. “Great. Now, let’s see what else we can steal.” He said under his breath just before he was going to walk into town when a hand grabbed his arm.
“No, Vegeta. No more stealing.” Kakarot whispered sincerely. “These people worked hard to get what they need. So we can’t just go and take what they worked so hard for.”
Vegeta resisted the look Kakarot was giving him. “Then what are we supposed to do, Kakarot? We don’t have any money for clothes, food, weapons, or shelter!”
Something caught Kakarot’s eye when he looked past Vegeta. “What’s-?” He began to say until he got closer to it. Vegeta followed his line of sight and squinted at the far away print and picture that was on parchment on the front of a building. He followed Kakarot towards it and suddenly froze when he saw a drawing of himself and Kakarot on it. “Is…is that…us?” Kakarot asked as he tried reading the print on it. “It says…w…waint…wainted? No wanted! Wanted…de…deed…? Dead! Dead or…”
Vegeta snatched the paper from him. “Oh for crying out loud! Give it to me!” The faces on the paper appeared more clearly to him as he read what the print said below them. “Wanted dead or alive. A thousand pieces of gold each when captured by order of…” He trailed off when he saw the name.
Kakarot was listening intently until Vegeta paused. “By order of who?” He asked urgently.
Vegeta rolled the parchment into a ball and tossed it on the ground. “My father.”
Kakarot gasped then looked to the wad of parchment on the ground and picked it up. He carefully unrolled it and looked at the wrinkled mess before folding it and stuffing it in the waistband of his pants. He caught up to the other and walked beside him down the dirt road along with hundreds of other people. “What does it mean?”
Vegeta glared at the ground as he walked. “It’s a wanted poster.”
“But what does that mean?” Kakarot persisted in complete ignorance.
Vegeta looked to him then. “You can’t be serious. Are you saying you don’t know what a wanted poster is?” He gave him an odd look when Kakarot nodded. “And here I was hoping that the worst was that you couldn’t read.”
Kakarot frowned. “I’m still learning.”
Vegeta sighed. “It’s a warrant for our arrest. My father must have put one out to make sure we don’t cause harm to anyone.”
“Oh.” Kakarot thought on it for a moment before one hit him. “Hey, should we be here then? I mean, what if someone recognizes us?”
Vegeta stopped to look around and noticed that there was a wanted poster on the front of every building. He looked to see where they stopped and noticed a pub next to them. “Come on.” He took a hold of Kakarot’s arm and pulled him in the place. They made their way to a dark corner with a table and sat down. “Alright now, we need a plan. We can’t stay here.” He said to him in a low voice. He looked around suspiciously at everyone there.
Kakarot frowned in thought. “We need a plan? Why can’t we just leave?”
“Because-!” Vegeta lowered his voice when a few people glanced at them. “Because we need supplies. We’ve been wearing these clothes for over a week now and I’d like a decent bath, a meal, a place to sleep for the night, and a better weapon. Besides,” He leaned back in his seat, “we don’t know where the next village is. It could be days or weeks before we run into the next one. Oh and we need a map too.”
“How are we going to get all that stuff?” Kakarot looked around at the place they were in. It was poorly lit and appeared to hold strange and dangerous characters. They also seemed to be drinking a strange colored liquid. It could’ve been water, but it was foamy.
Vegeta shook his head and sighed helplessly. “I don’t know.”
Kakarot pulled out the parchment and stared at it for a moment before a thought occurred to him. “I think I have an idea.” He smiled at Vegeta before quickly leaving the establishment.
An odd look appeared on Vegeta’s face then stood to follow him. “This outta be good.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You’re insane.” Vegeta stated as he glared at the village’s small jailhouse from behind another establishment.
“Come on, Vegeta. It’ll work…unless you have a better suggestion.” Kakarot stared at him pointedly before Vegeta sighed in surrender.
“What do I have to do and why me?” The half breed asked without any force behind it.
“Okay, this is how it’ll go. I will be the one who captured you and I’ll disguise myself, like so.” He gestured to the deer hide covering his head. Leaving his chest and torso bare, but covered his shoulders, back, and face. “Then I’ll cuff you, like this.” He suddenly pulled out a pair of silver hand cuffs and grabbed a hold of Vegeta’s wrists and bound them together.
“Hey! Where did you get those?!” Vegeta objected.
Kakarot ignored him though as he continued on with his plan. “Then all we have to do is play the part. You struggle and try to get free and I’ll keep you in check and give you to the sheriff and collect the reward.” He explained slyly.
“You would!” Vegeta shouted and struggled, trying to free himself from the silver chains.
“Don’t worry. I’ll bust you out when it gets dark, but before then, I’ll take the money and get the things that we need and we’ll get out of town. Sound good?” Kakarot explained quietly as he held onto Vegeta’s shackles.
“How do I know that? You’re probably just trying to get rid of me so you can have the money for yourself! How do I know you won’t double cross me?” The half breed hissed as the chains ate away at his wrists.
“You’re just going to have to trust me.” Kakarot whispered out before pushing Vegeta out onto the dirt street.
Vegeta grunted when he hit the gravel, his hands not being able to catch himself. “Was that necessary?!” He shouted from the ground.
Kakarot didn’t answer as he made his way toward him and lifted him up with both hands, as if it took some effort to do so then pushed him towards the small jailhouse. People moved out of the way and stared in curiosity after the pair. Kakarot shoved the half breed through the doorway, causing the sheriff to jump from his seat. The cub stood in the doorway and stared at his prisoner as he watched him try to stand up. “Damn you! Release me this instant!”
“Vat is this?!” The sheriff demanded as the stranger in deer hide approached him.
Kakarot held up the wrinkled wanted poster to the sheriff’s face. “I have the half breed prince. Now, give me my reward.” He slammed the poster on the sheriff’s desk.
The sheriff jumped slightly at the action then picked up the parchment and looked between it and the prince still on the floor. “Hm, it looks like him.”
“That’s because it is him.” Kakarot growled out then made his way towards Vegeta then picked him up and turned him so the chains faced the man. “See? The silver harms him.” He shoved Vegeta back to the floor in a rough manner.
Vegeta cried out at the treatment and gave the cub a growl along with a glare. The sheriff eyed the half breed as if making a decision. “Vere did you find him?”
“Down south. He was trying to leave the continent all together, but I managed to capture him in time.” Kakarot answered in a gruff voice.
The sheriff eyed the stranger then. “How’d you capture him?”
Kakarot crossed his arms and glowered at the sheriff. “Pounced him in his sleep. His mistake was keeping the fire lit so it was easy to find him. Then again, I don’t think he knew that he was being followed.” He turned to Vegeta and smirked.
Vegeta sneered at him before the sheriff continued. “And you are?”
“He’s the wanted cub!” Vegeta answered for him.
Kakarot gave the half breed a glare, which went unnoticed by the sheriff. “You see, he’ll say anything to get free. He’s tricky like that. I’m just a bounty hunter looking for a good meal and a place to sleep.” He defended.
The sheriff finally relaxed his stance and crossed his arms while leaning back against his desk. “Vell, if that’s vat you vant, then there’s Kate’s inn down the road. She’d be more than happy to give you a place to sleep and a good meal, especially if you got the money to spend.”
Kakarot gave the man a smirk. “Well then, I guess all that’s missing now is the money.”
With that said, the sheriff went to a drawer in his desk where he needed a key to unlock it then pulled out a sack of money and set it on his desk towards the stranger. “Here you go. A thousand pieces of gold.”
Kakarot went over to the sack and opened it to make sure it was gold. He closed it after a moment and held it up in thanks. “Be seeing ya.” He paused just before he left. “Oh and, be careful around him. He can be quite crafty.”
The sheriff tipped his hat towards him. “Vill do.” After the hunter left, the sheriff eyed the prisoner on the floor then hefted him up and tossed him in a cell. He locked the door with a clank of his keys. “Now don’t try anything. I have a sword on me and handy in case you do anything stupid.” He pulled out said sword. The blade made a ringing sound as the man swiped it through the air a few times.
Vegeta let out a breath in his place against the wall, his hands still bound behind his back. He eyed the sword the man wielded and smirked. “That’s a nice weapon. Have you used it on anyone?”
The sheriff swung it around a few more times. “I’ve taken a few lives with it. It’s mostly for scare, since folks don’t like a long blade pressed against their necks, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to use it.” He swung it horizontally right at Vegeta’s neck in his line of view.
Vegeta sighed. “Where am I anyway? The hunter was less than helpful in giving me that information.”
The sound of the sword was swung again. “I von’t tell you the town, but I can tell you the country. Germany.”
Vegeta perked up at that. “G-Germany?! I’m practically halfway across the damn planet!” He slumped back and eyed the man. “Well, that explains your accent.”
The sheriff chuckled crudely. “Don’t exaggerate. It’ll take you about…a veek or two to get you back home to Russia.”
The half breed leaned his head back against the wooden wall then suddenly hissed when the chains melted away at his flesh. He fidgeted around a bit before finally caving. “Hey, can you at least take these off? I can’t feel my arms.”
The sheriff finally stopped moving the sword a minute and thought it over. “Hmmm…nope. I think you’re fine just the vay you are.” The swinging continued.
Vegeta growled in irritation. It was going to be a long day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When night finally fell, Vegeta waited eagerly for the cub to return, but every minute that the boy didn’t show up, he became more and more nervous. He hissed again when the chains rubbed his skin raw and continued to slowly eat him away. He leaned his head back against the wall and panted as sweat dripped from his brow from his discomfort and nervousness. Just when he was about to pass out from exhaustion, the sheriff stood from his seat and stretched. The guy was sleeping the day away. He frowned at that. He could’ve escaped by now. What was taking that brat so long? Could he not remember what to get or…did he really leave? He spoke up when he saw the sheriff leaving. “Hey! Where are you going?!”
The sheriff looked at the half breed tiredly. “Home. It’s past my bed time.” He yawned.
Vegeta growled. “But you’ve been sleeping all day.”
“Yep. Now I’m going to go get some more. Night.” He made a small wave then went to leave and lock up.
“Wait! When am I going home?!” Vegeta shouted through the door.
“In the mornin.’” The sheriff replied tiredly and left.
Vegeta growled again. “Damn that cub. He’ll pay for this.”
After sitting in the dark for a few minutes and stewing in his anger, Vegeta felt and heard a rumbling sound. He froze when he tried to recognize it. It sounded like a stampede. He looked around, hoping to find something that was causing it, but there were no windows in the four cell building. Suddenly, something burst through the wooden wall. He cried out in surprise, but couldn’t do anything but flail as he was picked up by a massive set of teeth and carried off into the wilderness. Screams were heard everywhere when they escaped and the only one to see them flee was the sheriff in his drawers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey! Hey! Put me down this instant!” Vegeta shouted through the thundering of the cub’s paws. “And take these damn things off of me!”
After a moment, the cub slid to a stop and dropped the half breed prince. Vegeta landed on the ground face first with a thud. He grunted when he made contact, but made no move to get up since he was waiting for the other to do as he commanded. The cub moved over him and took the chains in its teeth and chomped hard on them, instantly breaking them. Vegeta moved to stand up then and growled at the cuffs still adorning his wrists. That was when the cub turned his back to Vegeta and sat down, causing the things on his back to slide off and land in front of the other. Vegeta looked down at the supplies in shock before quickly looking for a weapon to free him from the unforgiveable silver. He sighed in relief when he saw a sword and swiftly cut the cuffs off and rubbed them, trying to relieve him of the pain. He hissed when he saw how much damage the chains did to him and eyed the wolf in front of him. “What took you so long?”
Kakarot turned to face him then transformed back into his human form. “I had to wait until the sheriff left. I didn’t want to get sliced up.”
Vegeta’s eyes widened. “You knew he was armed?! How long were you waiting for?!”
Kakarot shrugged. “Since dusk.”
Vegeta growled. “It wouldn’t have mattered you know! I was locked in a cell! By the time he would’ve unlocked it, we would’ve been gone!”
Kakarot growled back. “Hey! You should be thankful I came back at all! And! Thanks to me! I got us money AND supplies!”
“This could’ve gone any other way! You could’ve gotten captured yourself, since I didn’t think you’d pull it off, and the man wouldn’t have paid you!” Vegeta pointed at the other.
“What?! You didn’t think I’d be able to pull it off?! Knowing your anger, I knew it was going to go smoothly if I didn’t tell you everything!” Kakarot retorted.
“So, now what Kakarot! What’s going to happen when we run out of money, huh?! Plan another scam while a warrant is put out for a guy in deer skin?!”
“Oh, don’t be so naïve! I’ll wear something different next time.” During their argument, Kakarot decided to put on a change of clothes.
“Well then they’ll just be waiting for it! They’ll know that it was a scam! They’ll be expecting it! Then what huh?! Then what!” Vegeta shouted for the whole world to hear.
“Vegeta! Calm down and think!” After Kakarot dressed, he took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Okay, so…the village doesn’t know that you’re dead or alive now right? So, the warrant will still be on us. Therefore, we’ll go from village to village and I’ll pretend to capture you, get our supplies then we’ll leave the same way.”
Vegeta’s eye twitched as he eyed the cub. “I got a better idea, how about ‘I’ capture you instead and then ‘I’ get the supplies and then ‘I’ get you out. How does that sound?” He asked sarcastically, but sincerely nonetheless.
Kakarot picked up a few supplies wrapped in cloth and threw them over his shoulder. “Why don’t you leave the saving up to me, huh? I’m obviously better at it.” He said smugly. Vegeta growled before picking up the rest of the supplies.
Silence ensued for a while as the two walked on into the wilderness, until Vegeta broke it. “Hey you never answered me. Why me, huh? Why did I have to be the prisoner? You would’ve made a better one. I could’ve played the bounty hunter.” He frowned.
Kakarot rolled his eyes and sighed, as if it weren’t obvious. “Because Vegeta, it’s easier to save you than it is to save me. They’ll put more chains and guards on me. For you, I’m strong enough to break the chains no matter what they put on you. It’s even easier if I get to put the chains on you.” He sighed in exhaustion. “And here I thought it was going to be fun, but no, you get in a mood and you just…kill the fun right out of it.”
Vegeta growled. “Listen to yourself! You’ve gotten so full of yourself ever since we left home! And what makes you think that would’ve been fun for me?! You didn’t have to wear silver!” He showed his wrists to the cub.
Kakarot looked at the half breed’s wrists in mock pain. “Ew, that looks bad. Here, let me-“
Vegeta yanked his hands back. “No thank you! They’ll heal on their own!” He walked a little faster to get ahead.
Kakarot suddenly grabbed Vegeta’s arm. “Wait, Vegeta! You’re going the wrong way! Come on. It’s this way to the next village. It’s not far. We can get a good night’s rest there.” He gestured toward the direction with his head. Vegeta yanked his arm back and followed while grumbling something about the stupid werewolf suddenly knowing what to do. Kakarot suddenly turned to him on their walk. “Oh hey! You’ll never guess where we are!”
“Germany.” Vegeta answered simply.
Kakarot paused in surprise. “Aw, how’d you know? I got a map and everything.” He replied sadly.
Vegeta sighed in exhaustion. “Lucky guess.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Sire! We just heard word that the half breed was captured in a little village in Germany. However, it was reported that he was kidnapped or eaten by one of ours. We think it might be Kakarot.” A guard burst through his king’s chambers.
Bardock suddenly turned his attention to the man. “Excellent. Stay on their trail and don’t come back until you have him.”
“What do you want us to do with the half breed, sire?”
Bardock growled. “Isn’t it obvious? Kill him!”
The guard bowed. “Of course, my lord. Will you be coming with us?”
Bardock thought on it for a moment. “No. I’m probably the last person he wants to see. Besides, with Raditz gone, someone has to keep an eye on the rest of you.”
“Right, sire. We’ll be back as soon as we have our young prince.” The guard went to leave before his king stopped him.
“Make sure not to harm him. Do anything it takes to bring him back but that. Lie to him if you have to.” He ended with a solemn tone.
The guard looked at his king for a moment before swiftly bowing again. “Yes, sire.”

King Vegeta paced in his room in impatience, waiting for any word about his son or the cub. It’s only been a few days, but still, those two can’t hide forever. He didn’t have to wait too long however, when a servant entered his room with his permission. “Sire,” The servant bowed, “We’ve just heard word that our prince was captured a couple days ago.” The man didn’t look his king in the eye, afraid he would be punished for their lateness in finding out this information.
“A couple days?!” The king barked. “What took them so long in telling us?! They could be anywhere by now!” He turned to pound his desk.
The servant cringed. “I’m sorry, sire. The reason it took a while is because the letter we received came from Germany.”
The king paused. “Germany? They made it that far already?” He asked more to himself.
“There’s another problem your highness. The wolves…the beasts, they’ve known since yesterday-“
“What?! Well then what are you waiting for?! Follow them!” The king shouted.
The servant took a step back from his king’s anger. “But sire, where will we start?”
“In Germany you fool! Start there and ask around!” After his tantrum, King Vegeta took a moment to calm himself before speaking again. “Make sure you’re in disguise. Don’t let them recognize you or let them know what you’re up to. I want you to find him…” The king sat tiredly in his chair. “Find my son.”
The servant hesitated a moment before bowing. “Yes, your majesty.”
