Chapter 9

“Hi Rai” it was Kite he sat down next to him “hey Kite how are you” Rai asked him. “Yeah fine, so did you have a good weekend” Kite asked. “Not that bad” Rai replied when truthfully it was “so what did you do“ Rai then asked him. “Well I went home to see mum and dad and my little sister which was good, we went to the fair now that was a lot of fun, say how about next weekend you and I go to the fair its only a twenty minute drive from here, we can take the bus” Kite was rambling on. “What do you say” Rai looked at him “yeah, sounds like fun and I would like to get away from here for a day” Rai replied.

They had both decided to go to the fair on next Saturday, Rai had thought to himself that going to the fair would distract him from other things. When he went to the café with Cole he had totally forgotten what happened that day. Though when he got back the memory came flooding back, but Rai just had to try and forget. It was difficult because he was sharing with Kai and they had some lessons together.

“Good afternoon class” Mr Edwards just walked in bringing Rai out of his thoughts and back to reality. “Afternoon Mr Edwards” all the students said together, he walked over to the stage and put his books on it including two small boxes. He then faced the class “now I’m sure everyone is present here” he said. “So lets start, now today I have decided that you are all going to be paired up and given a different topic to act for the class” he told them. “Now you are probably already thinking of who you want to go with, unfortunately you will not be picking your partner” he said. He then picked up a one of the small boxes which was green and blue, “now in this box is each name of every student in this class” he started telling them.

“I will call you up one at a time, now once that student has come up and picked a name out of the box, that is who they will be paired up with so that student whose name was picked out doesn’t need to come up but is someone else picks the name of a student who has already come up they will give that name to me and pick out another one” he told them. “Once you have all been partnered up with, one of you will come up and pick a piece of paper from this box” he then said, picking up a yellow and red box.

“In here is a different topic on what kind of acting scene you will be doing, for example if you pick the topic romance you must act out a scene of well romance” he told them. One of the students then put his hand up. “Yes Lucas”, “well what about if your paired with like another guy and you got romance can you pick something else” he asked. “Unfortunately no” Mr Edwards told him, “ewww”, “gross” most of the students were making rude comments. “Now, now this is all in acting, just say that your in a movie and you had to kiss someone of the same gender in a scene, now the director doesn’t want someone who will make remarks on how gross it is, he or she will just get another acting” Mr Edwards told them.

“Now once I call your name please come up and pick a name from this box” he told the class. Few of the students went up and picked a name for who their going to be with. “Rai can you come up now” Mr Edwards asked him. Rai stood up and headed to the front ‘please I beg you lord let it not be Kai’ he prayed in his thoughts. Every step he took just looking at that box made him quiver. ‘Why couldn’t have someone picked Kai’s name’ he thought to himself. He stood in front of his teacher and out his hand down into the box.

He picked a piece of paper out of the box, it was folded in half so he couldn’t see the name. ‘This is the moment of truth’ he thought to himself. He slowly opened the piece of paper, he couldn’t look. Just this one piece of paper was torturing him inside, he opened one eye and then he opened the other. He couldn’t believe it right their written in big capital letters was the name that feared him the most ‘KAI’. “I cant believe it I just cant” Rai said to himself not caring if anyone else could hear him.

Mr Edwards looked at the piece of paper and saw Kai’s name written on it. “Well Rai it seems Kai is your partner” he said. “Rai” he looked at the poor boy “are you alright Rai” he asked him. He then just collapsed and fell to the floor it had seemed he had just fainted from shock. “RAI” Mr Edwards yelled trying to wake him up. He got one of the girls to get the nurse from the infirmary. “Man Kai you sure have an effect on people” on of the guy’s beside Kai said to him. “I guess its my charm” Kai smirked, he thought it was rather funny how Rai had fainted when he had picked him for his partner.

The nurse came and was able to wake Rai up with some sort of drug which smelled really bad. Rai’s eyes slowly opened “thank god you scared me Rai don’t ever do that again” Mr Edwards told him. “Sorry” Rai replied sitting up “will you be alright” he asked him “yeah I’m fine” Rai smiled at his teacher.

Ten minutes went by and Rai was feeling a lot better, it was good that it was nothing serious. Everyone had finally been paired up of course Rai wasn’t all that thrilled with who he was partnered up with. It seemed that god wasn’t on his side and it was freaky how he picked Kai’s name instead of someone else’s.

“Okay now that you all have a partner one student from each pair will come up and take a piece of paper from this box. Four people from different pairs went up and picked a piece of paper, some where happy what they got and others weren’t. Rai just hopped that they would get something which he would enjoy to do it. “Alright Kai can you come up and pick one for you and Rai to do” Mr Edwards asked him. Kai stood up from his seat and walked to the front, he put his hand into the box and pulled out a piece of paper out.

He unfolded it and a smile came up on his face and not a nice one at that. ‘Why is he smiling’ Rai wondered to himself. “So what do you have Kai” Mr Edwards asked him, “romance” Kai said. Everyone started laughing why Rai just slouched down in his seat ‘great just great, he just had to pick romance’ Rai thought. He covered his face with his right hand, “settle down settle down” Mr Edwards told the class.

They had all silenced and were back to picking a topic from the yellow and red box. “I wonder if they will kiss” a girl said. “Yeah Rai sure is lucky” another girl said back, Rai could hear a few girls whispering to each other. Saying things like ‘I wonder if they will kiss’ or ‘do you think they might hug’ and other stuff.

The lesson soon ended and they all had two days to come up with the perfect act for their topic with their partner. Rai thought that it will be easy for him and Kai because they share the same dorm room. However he wasn’t really into doing a romance scene with him that was for sure. ‘What if Kai wants to’ a blush came up on his cheeks ‘no I’m being stupid’ he kept thinking to himself.

The day was soon over and Rai walked into his dorm room exhausted, “OHHH” he yawned why walking through the door. “Man I’m tied” he said to himself “well you cant go to bed just yet” Kai was sitting on the lounge. “Hey I have just had one hectic day I’m gonna grab something to eat and then I’m going to bed” he told Kai. “Aren’t you forgetting something” Kai then said “and what would that be” Rai asked him. “You and I have to come up with an act for drama remember” he told him.

Rai froze he had completely forgotten about that, how he didn’t know but now he felt sick in the stomach. “We can do it tomorrow” Rai told “unfortunately we need to start it now, we only have two days and besides a good actor would always have to work everyday just to get one scene perfect” Kai told him. “Alright, alright I don’t need one of your lectures” Rai replied. He walked over to the single couch and sat down.

“So what should we do then” Rai asked Kai, “our topic is romance and as we are both guys I guess we will be acting as homosexuals” Kai told him. “Yeah I know that I mean how are we going to act it out” he asked. “First we have to come up with some lines for each of us and figure out what our characters will be” Kai told him. “Hey I know why don’t you play the wimpy guy and I get to kick your ass how does that sound” Rai said in a sarcastic way. Kai looked at him “if your trying to be funny please don’t” he told Rai. “Well sorry man you have no sense of humour” Rai replied.

“So what would be the perfect act, hmm how about we are both in a relationship but we are having a few difficulties” Kai mentioned. “Sounds good to me that means I can punch your lights out” Rai said. “Unfortunately that wont be happening” Kai told him, “I think that we argue about something and then we slowly make up” Kai said. “Fine but wait with the making up bit we wont have to kiss or anything” Rai asked him. “Our topic is in their we will have to kiss at least just once to make it look real” Kai told him.

Rai quickly sat up “oh no kissing me in the dorm is bad enough but doing it in front of everyone your joking right” Rai said. “No I’m not” Kai replied “why was I stuck with you, I get it you just want to kiss me again don’t you, I knew it oh this is classic” Rai said walking around the lounge room. Kai was getting really feed up now, he stood up and grabbed Rai by the shoulders and pulled him towards him. Lips met lips Kai had done it again, he had kissed Rai for the third time now.

Kai pulled his face away but kept his grip on Rai’s shoulders “will you just shut up, your giving me a headache” he told Rai. It was completely silent for at least a minute when Rai suddenly yelled at him. “YOU BASTARD HOW DARE YOU I AM REALLY GOING TO KICK YOU’RE A” but before he could finish what he was saying Kai had kissed him again. For some reason even though Rai didn’t like what Kai was doing, he wasn’t pulling away. Of course his eyes where wide open he wasn’t really into being kissed by another guy.

He then felt himself being pushed back until he was backed up against the wall. Kai grabbed Rai’s wrists and held them to the wall on either side of Rai’s face.

Rai had thought that Kai would have stopped ages ago but he hadn’t pulled away. Suddenly Kai left Rai’s lips and slowly started to kiss him down to his neck. “Huhh” Rai had never felt such a feeling before. Those soft warm lips kissing and sucking on the side of his neck made shivers run down Rai’s spine. All these different feelings where running through Rai’s body and his mind was going crazy ‘what’s happening, why aren’t I pulling away, how come I’m letting Kai do this, am I enjoying this’. So many different thoughts where running through his head now.

Kai started to kiss to the other side of the neck and then went back up to Rai’s lips. ‘He might be my enemy but he is a good kisser’ Rai thought. He then slowly shut his eyes just like he had done when Kai first kissed him. Of course he wasn’t sure what to think back their because it was so sudden. For some reason this time was different and even though Rai knew that this was wrong, he just couldn’t stop himself.

What will happen next well you will just have to wait and find out.
