Chapter 9
“Well if you like you can try out your new video games or we could watch the Movies you picked out before I make some super well we could watch one movie anyways.” Roy said as we entered back into the kitchen I waited for Alphonse to come in and I shut the door.
I sniffled, “Hmm maybe some video games would be fun,” I feel Alphonse putting his big metal hand on my shoulder he patted it.
“It will be ok Nii-san,” Alphonse said in a very soft and caring tone to me. I nodded my head to Alphonse so he knew I heard him before Roy turned around to look at me.
“Alright then well come on.” Roy beckoned me with a wave of his hand as he turned toward the arch way he walked through it down the hallway. I fallow after him to the third floor video game room, “Well we can play some of your new games you picked out.” Roy offered.


“Ah well that means I’d have to go all the way back down stairs to get it,” I grumbled and slumped over some.
“Ah well get it later I do have some games to pick from as well,” Roy chuckled he walked over to the sofa and flopped down. “Why don’t you go pick one out?” Roy wondered and put his hands laced behind his head.
“Yeah alright,” I agree then walk over to the video games that were lined up on a tall books shelf next to the TV and look through them. I pick out a Ninja fighting game so we both can play. It was for the Xbox 360, I walk over to the console that is on the second shelf of the entertainment center and press the big button with my right thumb the green light comes on I turned the TV on as well. “Is this on the right channel?” I wondered looking at Roy over my shoulder.

“Yup I normally play a lot of the Xbox 360,” Roy tells me bringing his hands from behind his head and put them down in his lap.
“Alright then” also my question was answered when I could see the Xbox 360 was working on the TV monitor. There was only one account holder so I didn’t need to worry about signing in of course. I grabbed a white controller and turned it on then pressed the green button once the menu options came on the tray slid open I set the disk in the tray and pushed A again it slid shut. I grabbed another white wireless controller I turned around as they game loaded up and walked back over to the sofa I handed Roy his controller.
Roy turned his on, “you sure do know how to get a video game going I didn’t think you ever played them before.” Roy chuckled as the Ninja game’s music game on they had Japanese style like music that came from the speakers as the Main menu popped up in the center of the screen was big orange letters with blue outline that read. “Ninja Wars,” behind it was the back ground a high brick fence could see trees bushing over the top of the fence. They looked big and leafy nice and green the screen was pretty vivid.

“Well its really not all that hard to figure out,” I shrug “I pretty much just fallowed the instructions on the menu.” I explained then I pushed start the menu changed to Story Mode, Fight Mode, Training Mode. I pushed the joy stick down and went to Fight mode the screen changed again there was Fight then an options where you can fight with another player.


“Well yes that is the logical thing to do indeed,” Roy agreed with me as he was watching the screen now and what I was picking.
I clicked the co op fighting then the screen changed there was two big columns of characters on the left and right hand side of the screen. They had the same characters on either side of the screen I had lead controller so I had to pick first I moved over the Ninja’s there was a blonde, also one with black short hair. Another with long white hair in a braid there was an orange haired one there hair spiked up oddly. I decided on the white haired boy. Roy could pick he chose the large buff bald guy which sort of made me laugh. “Well here we go get ready for an old fashion ass whooping.” I declared happily as our characters appear in a fighting ring that had stones on it with grass growing between the cracks of the stones the sky behind was blue with trees arching over the ring in the corner of the TV screen.
“Ha we will see about that,” Roy answered in a smug tone right when the Vs part went down and the big read letters appeared saying FIGHT. Roy didn’t have much time to think I had my boy on his in no time doing all kinds of crazy moves he had an Ice breathing defenses I kept freezing Roy’s character. The battle lasted one minute I beat him in no time.
“HAHA you never stood a chance against me buddy!” I laugh excitedly I bounced up and down on the sofa my braid flopping up and down as I did this. We played this game for a good while I kept kicking Roy’s ass he finally got tired of that plus it was an hour before five, I kicked his character’s ass for the last time.
“Alright I think I had enough ass whooping from awhile,” Roy seemed a bit put off by me beating him he looked so defeated. He had slumped his shoulders and had a look on his face like the fun of this video game was gone.
“Oh alright well if you ever want some more just feel free to ask,” I joke he brought his hand over toward my head I duck back. “AH stay back,” I say pushing his hand away from my head I knew he wanted to mess my hair up. “Don’t be so spiteful,” I scold him.
Roy dropped his hand and stood up, “yeah well whatever then I am going to go make dinner you can enjoy playing video games or whatever you like up here tell I am done ok?” He said smiling at me.
“Um sure thing,” I give him a thumb up. Roy nodded and walked around the sofa made his way out of the room. Once he left we waited five minutes, then Alphonse came over and sat down next to me.
“Well you sure did beat him your pretty awesome at Video games, I only wish I could play too.” Alphonse said looking down at his lap.

“Yeah I wish that too,” I nodded and sighed then changed the video game to story mode.
“Nii-san I want to ask you something,” Alphonse said putting his hand over the controller which obviously meant that I had to pay attention to him. I looked up at him putting the controller down on my lap he removed his hand.
“Ok go ahead,” I say looking behind me as if there might be some sort of dark spying figure standing next to the door with glowing white eyes or something. Perhaps it was clocked in the shadows of the hallway. There was nothing there I tell myself…. I turned back and looked up at Alphonse I didn’t say anything perhaps it was just my paranoia.
“Why did you make a statue of my former self if it was only going to hurt you inside?” Alphonse wondered, “I don’t like to see you crying over me like that it hurt me so much.”
“I don’t know why Alphonse I just suppose my body sort of acted on its own, my body seems to do that a lot or maybe it was my mind or something.” I tell Alphonse I slid my metal hand onto Alphonse’s leg my finger tips make a cool metal clinking sound. “But really though I do want to try and get you your body back, It just feels so lonely here without you. With Mother gone and then my stupidity,” I feel wetness that annoying wetness at the rim of my eyes again. “I just really would love to see you again as you so I can hold you and beg you to forgive your dumb brother.” I say rubbing my flesh knuckle into my ever leaking eyes it seemed.
“Nii-san how many times do I have to tell you I have forgiven you I told you before I am not holding a grudge against you, stop this already please Nii-san. Then I suppose I can understand the part where you want to hold me I wish I was flesh and blood as well so I could hold you. Tell you everything is ok so I can feel your skin again that would be so nice right now that is one of my biggest desires besides I wish you could get your flesh arm and leg back too.” Alphonse put his hand on my metal hand and patted it made a cold clinking sound as metal banged against metal.
“That dose it, its decided you and I are going to get your body back one way or another I am going to see to it that I get your soul back into your rightful body. I’ll find your body inside that hell gate and will return you to your original form!” I say sitting up and clamping my left fist together.
“Nii-san that is very kind of you but how are you going to manage that if you go into that gate you’ll never come back either.” Alphonse’s points this out to me, “Then your body will be lost what do I have left to give by my own soul then the two of us will who knows what the hell will happen to us we may never be together again. I never want to leave your side Nii-san ever. Lets not go through that again please.”
“Yeah Al but how are we going to feel each other again how will you be able to feel me how will I be able to feel you?” I wondered gazing up at him with my golden eyes.
“Edward it would be nice, but your not a god Nii-san your only you and there is only so much you can do with in your power.” Al was a very reasonable little brother I was very glad for him if he wasn’t here I’d probably never have gotten out of the hospital.
I thought about what he said to me it all seemed right but then again maybe I did have the power, “But I could always do deeper research find out some possible way to bring you back.”
“NO Edward stop your going to make things worse this is what I am trying to tell you stop with your one tracked blind mindless thinking already.” Alphonse seemed to snap at me he had a shaky tone to his voice.
“This isn’t mindless not if I look into it more thoroughly,” I say and run my flesh hand through my golden bangs then flopped back down in place. “I wonder if Roy has anything on Alchemy or something that could help he was a State Alchemist so he just might.” I stood up from my seat on the sofa I pushed the button on the controller and turned off the game system then turned the TV off with the remote on the coffee table. Then set the remotes back down on the table.
Alphonse gave a cute little growling from inside the suit, “Nii-san your not even listing to me are you!?” Alphonse stood up as well he grabbed me by the shoulders and turned me around.
“Yes Alphonse I hear you don’t worry, I just want to look into a few things that is all now don’t worry your probably right there isn’t really anymore that I can do for you. I am just curious to see what there could be done.” Alphonse was gripping my shoulders firmly though as if he didn’t want to let go.
“Nii-san curiosity killed the cat,” Alphonse’s tried to warn me I suddenly got the feeling something was staring at me again from the hallway. The staring made me feel uneasy the white glowing eyes seemed to peer at me from the door way looking out through a hood. I looked over again there was nothing there was this just in my head I wondered. The staring feeling just nagged at me. “Nii-san stop that there is nothing there,” Alphonse said braking into my thoughts.
I must have been staring at the doorway longer then I needed too, I felt a little shaky, “I um uh, ok I know ,well come on lets go look at some books at lest there isn’t harm in reading is there?” I kind of really just wanted to get out of the room now there were too many uneasy feelings about this room now.

Alphonse gave a defeated sighing, “Fine Nii-san but if you get sucked into the black gates I don’t want to hear you complaining! Cause I probably won’t I may never see you again ever.”
“Alphonse you’ll see me, now come on I reallllly want to get out of this room.” I reply to him in a very uneasy tone of voice.
“Alright,” he said and let go of my shoulders, I turned and walked around the sofa toward the doorway which I still felt very uneasy about. I came to the door way and stood there for a few moments, hoping whatever there was if anything wasn’t hiding behind the door waiting to pounce me. I put my metal hand out first that could be a lot less painful then just sticking my head out. Nothing happened so I put my left foot out and stepped quickly into the hallway. There was nobody there to my relief. I walk down the hallway with Alphonse fallowing silently he must have figured there was no point talking to me anymore since I had my mind set.
I went down the steps and went into Roy’s bedroom I began to scan over the books Alphonse went and gazed out the window in Mustang’s bedroom. “Fire Alchemy, Ice Alchemy, Encyclopedias.” I say reading out loud the books I see, “Book of All things Alchemy, Gun Books, Sword fighting books, Music Books.” I kept running my finger over the books I was not seeing anything on the topic in which I desired.
“I highly doubt Mustang will have anything like that gez Nii-san I don’t think he is going to have books out for you to find and try more crazy things with.” Alphonse said turning from the window with his arms down at his sides. I was looking at him over my shoulder as I was hunched down next to one of Mustang’s three foot bookshelves.
“Al I am not going to try anything crazy I am wanting to know for my own curiosity and satisfaction I am not going to attempted to try and bring you back.” I say going on down the line of books man there was nothing in here that could help Alphonse was right. “Well I can always check on the computer too that has much more information on things then any place ever.” I say standing up I turn around start walking toward the door. Then I stop walking oh right the computer was in that creepy video game room with the guy who stared at me….
“Hmm” I say and stand up straight, “I wonder what sort of books he has in his study,” I say out loud. “I’d rather look in there. YES this is very true indeed ha,ha,” I chuckled nervously I walk out of Mustangs room then come to the steps to the third floor Alphonse was still fallowing after me.

I come to the bottom of the steps then I hear this odd sloshing sound as if there was waves hitting against the shores of a beach. Then it changed to just full on water as if my head had been submerged in water.
“Nii-san,” I faintly hear Alphonse, “Nii-san are you alright?” Alphonse wondered he placed his cold metal hand on my shoulder.
I open my mouth to speak but I can’t seem to form words, I feel like water is rushing into my mouth. I back up from the steps and tried to scream but nothing was coming out. I felt cold and clammy I then feel my right knee grow weaker I can’t stand up any longer I fall to my knees I try to shake this water out of my head. “Ah,” I finally hear my voice loud in my ear “Come on Edward can’t spaz out now we just got out of there hold it together pal.” I try claming myself down by yes talking to myself. I look up the steps were still there I looked back at Alphonse who I could tell was worried even with an emotionless helmet. “I am alright,” I tell him and myself then I put my hand on the handrail and stood up. “I can’t be afraid Alphonse I can’t,” I say determined I walk up the steps again to the third floor Alphonse fallowing me.
“Nii-san you shouldn’t ignore these episodes your having it could be dangerous what if your having some kind of seizures or something you should tell Doctor Mustang.” Alphonse said to me worried as I walked down the hall to Mustangs study door and opened it there was another computer in there on a brown desk which was in the middle of the room there was books shelves on every wall.
“No Alphonse, I ain’t going back to the bloody hospital I just got out of there. Besides we have more things to think about now like the sweetness of this awesome room full of books and books.” I feel my eyes where wide at the site of 12 foot walls full of books there was a big arm chair in front of a fire place with a book stand next to it.

Alphonse shook his head, “you irritate me at times Nii-san that is all I am going to say.” He huffed then walked over to the book shelf on the right hand side and pulled out a story book about Pirates.

”Sorry Al,” I apologize before going to the left of the room, “This will take me years to find though it is like a treasure hunt in here.” I run my finger along the books at my level they seemed to be a lot of books on Doctor stuff. There were two high ladders with wheels on them I pushed one ladder to the far corner of the room. I climbed up it I don’t know what made me want to do it but I fingered maybe some of the good old forgotten books might be up there.


“Careful Nii-san” Alphonse said watching me climb up the high ladder he walked under it to make sure I’d be ok.
“Ah don’t worry already I am fine,” I try convincing Alphonse which I am sure he wasn’t very convinced at all. I look in the corner there was a black book unlabeled on the spin I put my finger at the top of the book and pull it out. On the cover in crimson letters was written, “The Philosophers Stone,” This looked very promising I thought “Hmm,” I hummed to myself I opened the cover and turned to the introduction. It seemed everything was written by hand so it made me think these were some old notes or something. It was talking about how the Philosopher Stone could bring people back to life, give them great powers and make them immortal. It was written by some doctor I never heard of before I closed the book and put it under my arm. I crawled down the ladder again, I stepped down “Now this looks interesting, “ I say to Alphonse holding the book up for him to see as I turn around from the ladder.
Alphonse sighed, “Maybe you should have asked Mustang first if it was ok to take that book. It could be some kind of private thing he didn’t want you to know about.” The voice of reason once again spoke to me.
“Well,” I say being my none reasonable self once again. “It was high in the corner I am sure he won’t even know it is missing.” I say pushing the ladder a bit away from the corner; I walked toward the study door. I left the room turned toward the direction of the stairs and went down the steps and walked into my bedroom I climbed up on my bed sat with my back against the head bored. I opened the book and began to read Alphonse came in as well and sat down on the other side of the bed to read with me.
I was half way through the book when I heard Mustang coming down the hallway there was so many interesting things about this stone, yet horrific things had gone into creating it. Which made me sad Alphonse didn’t even want to read it anymore but I kept on reading anyway. When I heard Mustang coming I closed the book and put it under my pillow. “Heya Edward,” he greeted me appearing in the doorway.
“Oh Hello Roy,” I smiled and turned my feet to the side and slid off the bed.
“Dinner is ready if your hungry.” Mustang kindly informs me I walk over to him he moves out of the way of the door and we head down the hallway together.
“Of course I am hungry you cooked me stake I am starved.” I happily say as he slid his arm around my shoulders together we made our way down the steps.
“Well that is really good to hear then,” Mustang said to me contently as we came into the kitchen. The table was set nicely on my plate was a nice big stake with mashed potatoes on the side, roll and salad in a bowl. To drink I had ice water which I was pleased he didn’t give me milk.
“Oh it looks great!” I say and hug Mustang from the side he chuckled and patted me on the back. “Thank you so much and it smells so good.” I complement him happily I stood on my tip toes and kissed him on the cheek then let go of him and walked over to the chair pushed into the side of the table and pulled it out and sat down.
“Your very welcome,” Roy happily answered he then walked up behind me and hugged me from behind and kissed me on the neck which made my body tingle greatly. Then he stood up and set down at the end of the table he also was drinking water.
I rub my tingling neck, I noticed all my food had already been cut up for me I noted my salad fork was plastic so was my spoon. “Gez Roy I am not going to stab you I swear nor will I stab myself.” I say picking up the plastic fork and showing it to him.
“Edward I don’t even want to have a dissection on this so go ahead and eat don’t worry about it plus it saves on some washing as well.” Roy shrugged I noted he was eating with plastic as well so I didn’t say anything else. I stabbed the nicely browned stake with my fork and put the stake in my mouth.
I began to chew it tasted so good it had a good blind of herbs and spices probably something of Roy’s own devices. “Mmmm this is tasty,” I say pushing the chunk of meat to one of my cheeks then chewed it a bit more and swallowed.
“I am pleased you like it,” Roy smiled at me he had answered after he finished eating his first bite he picked up his water which was in a plastic cup as well and sipped the water inside then set the glass down.
We ate in comfortable silence for a good while as the food was really good there was no point in talking when everything was so delouses. Well this is what I believed anyways I loved to eat really I loved food especially really good food. The meal wound down I finished my last mouthful of water, I stood up and picked up my plate. “I can clean up if you like?” I offered to Roy.
“Alright if you want to you can take out the trash as well the trash can is in the garage next to the door. All you have to do is throw the plates cups forks and spoons away not to hard I already cleaned the skillet. After this we can watch a movie if you like,” Roy states.
“Alright you got it,” I cheerfully agree I stack my plate on Roy’s then put the cups together I pick them up and carry them to the sink I open up the door under the sink I pull out the trash can. I throw the stuff away. I take the bag out of the waste bin it came with ties built in so I pulled those shut and tied them. I walked to the garage door I place my free hand on the door knob and opened the door. I stepped down onto the one stoop I opened the trash can lid and dropped the trash in then closed the lid.
I don’t know why I suddenly had this over whelming feeling, I should get the heck out of the garage. I felt like something was on the ground that was about two feet tall rushing toward my leg like it wanted to gnaw it off. My heart started to beat really fast I saw the creature rushing toward me. I could see it now it was a creature rushing toward me it didn’t seem it was in my head. It seemed to have green skin, long sharp teeth big pointy ears and long claws.
“WATCH OUT MUSTANG there is a GOBLIN!” I shouted and I rushed into the room clapped my hand made the scoop blade out of my arm. I stabbed the creature through the head which it seemed to explode on my knife making a green icky goo.
“Edward!” Mustang shouted at me I look up at him then back down at my knife that was sunk deep into the kitchen floor there was nothing there. “What the hell are you doing there is nothing there.” Roy put his hand to his temple and rubbed it his eye was twitching as well.
“I…I..Um I am sorry,” I say feeling really frustrated by this what the hell was wrong with me. “I didn’t mean to please don’t send me back please.” I pleaded looking up at Roy I dislodged my blade from the ground. I stood up there was nice slice mark through his wooden floor. I made the scoop blade vanish.
“Don’t worry Edward I am not going to send you back, not after I just made the doctors believe me that wouldn’t look good at all.” Roy said and walked over to me he put his hands on my shoulders. “Its ok you only murdered my floor the tree was long since dead anyways. Plus you were only trying to protect me from whatever you thought you saw. I am not going to send you back for trying save me don’t worry ok?” Roy wondered looking me in the eyes I was pleased with his answer.
“Alright, well I am really sorry I can fix your floor,” I say and turn around I clapped my hands and put them over the slice mark there was a purple flash the wood was back to normal again.
“Wow well then see all is well, but I should run a private scan on your mind too see why your thinking your seeing such things.” Roy said turning me around, starting to pet my clammy forehead he brushed my bangs back in place he bent down and kissed my forehead. The pulled me into his body I slid my arms around him and hugged him shivering some.
I felt very safe in Roy’s arms right now like he was my angel my guardian protector though I tried to keep him safe. Really his arms felt like strong wings that embraced me sheltering me from my own crazy mind from what it may come up with. I liked how he stroked my braid Mustang was my physical contact the thing I really needed the most in my life. I need touch I need to know that I was not alone that there was a real world. At the present I was happily getting lost in my new guardian’s arms.
There was nothing, no one could get me at the moment no one would hurt me I felt not even judging eyes could burn through this embrace. Roy Mustang I thought in my mind, he is mine I liked the sound of this I gripped hold of the back of his shirt and nuzzled his chest with my cheek.
“Alright Edward,” I heard Roy’s deep voice break into my happy content bubble I had been in which was a bubble that consists of me forever hugging Roy and never letting go. “It is ok I am not going to let anything get you, can let go of me. Lets go watch some movies huh?” He wondered I feel him letting go the warmth around my back slips away.
“Hmm,” I answer almost sleepily as if I just woke up from a dream, “Ok lead the way.” I say to Roy my Roy. I think in my mind, “Mine and no one else’s.”
“What are you talking about Edward?” Roy wondered cocking a brow and crossed his arms I had not realized that I said that out loud.
“I uh um uh nothing,” I chuckled nervously “Just chatting out loud to myself you know us nutters do that now come on lets go already!” I say putting my finger in the air and walked past Roy out of the kitchen.
Roy fallowed me I don’t think he bought it but oh well I really didn’t want to tell him what I was thinking. I know he’d think what I was thinking was crazy. “Hmm well I suppose” Roy said in a still concerned voice. “Just a minute now I forgot to give you your pill.” Roy said going to the counter and opened the cabinet that had my medication on the top shelf he took it down popped off the lid tapped out one of my white pills. “Will you fill up a cup with water?” He wondered to me.
“Yeah ok,” I spun around on my heal’s and walked back into the kitchen and got a plastic cup from the plastic bag on the counter. I walked to the sink turned on the water then filled the cup half way with water, then turned off the water
I turn around put my palm up Roy set the pill in my hand I put it in my mouth, “Maybe that will help but I doubt it as that is only for aggression not hallucinations.” I swallow the pill with the water finishing the whole cup then set it on the counter.
“I believe your right it probably won’t help,” I say biting my bottom lip a bit my mind could be such a scary thing I think. Roy had turned to walk out of the kitchen I reached over and took his hand. He stopped and turned some to look at me, “ Roy don’t leave me alone please.” I speak in a worried tone. “I am scared of myself,” I say blushing with my head down. Roy put his finger tips under my chin I tilted my head up to look at him he leaned down and kissed my lips.

“I won’t Edward don’t worry,” he assured me after parting from the kiss “now come along,” he said keeping his hand in mine he lead me to the third floor after stopping by my room to get the movies and games. We settled down on the sofa to together I felt so safe with him but that nagging white glowing eyed bastard was always in the corner of my mind. I snuggled to Roy’s side and made him put his arm around me as I watched the film.
“This feels better,” I say looking up at him as he looked down at me in wonderment of his action I made him do.
“Um alright then,” Roy said then went back to watching the movie while Roy was looking at the TV. I caught Al’s eye as he was standing next to the sofa I jesters slightly with my head then slowly put my hand next to me and padded the open seat for Alphonse he could fit the sofa was big. He walked over and sat down next to me I felt even better now like this I could watch the movie now believing the hooded figure could never touch me now.
I just hoped I’d be ok at night I don’t know what I am going to do I am sure Mustang wouldn’t just let me sleep with him. I better not ask he’d think that was kind of weird I sighed thinking about all of that all I know was I hope I’d be ok alone in the dark in my room. What was I worried about I was left alone all the time in the hospital even in the none secure rooms nothing ever got me. Then again Roy had mentioned allowing my to sleep in his bed so another reason not to worry.
I relax thinking about all of this plus I did have my metal arm I could just punch the thing through the face right? Then again if it wasn’t real I’d be in trouble but I could fix things with Alchemy after all which still blew my mind.
I needed to also remember there was nothing to fear I was in Mustangs house he’d always protect me. I was in my Roy Mustangs save home he pretty much called it that. I still liked the sound of this My Roy Mustang petted his leg affectionately I smile to myself as I went on watching the movie.
