In his struggle to remember who he was, he has a little help along the way... But are these people telling Ed the truth about who he was?
Notes :: This takes place after the movie storyline. If you don't want any spoilers to how the movie turns out or anything like that, don't read the Fic or the Author's Note since both contain many spoilers to such events.
Disclaimer :: I do not own FMA or any of the characters, they belong to Hiromu Arakawa and the rest of the peoples that bought the rights to use them. I'm just having my own f-ed up fun with them so please don't sue.
Author Note :: Well, after much request, I decided to post what I have of the sequel of "A Price to Pay", my other Roy/Ed fanfic here that has gotten a lot of attention and I was very hapy about that! ^^ I have, for the time, lost my interest in FMA . Right now, I am focusing mostly on my Naruto fanfic, but I think I'll try and continue this one.
This time, I have an original storyline. Allllll my own so I can have lots of fun with it and without restrictions to time and place. Yay! *cheers* Anyways, I do want to note something important about this little story.
This story takes place after the storyline of the movie, however, I had to change a few things for this to work. I was a little sad when neither Ed or Al were back in their world at the end (and that Envy died T_T) so I made a few... changes. Not big ones. Just... ones that allowed Ed and Al to stay in their own very cool World, and not this stupid sucky excuse for one. Anyways, instead of Al going after Ed in the other world, he does in fact stay with Roy. And Ed... Well, he ends up closing the gate on the other side, however, he makes it back through the other gate to his world and, tada!, is at where he is now currently in the fic; Memory-less and Confused. And, oh yeah, Envy's alive again. *points to the pairings* Hee. I needed him for this, and anyways... He's too damn sexy to die just yet T_T So, enough of me blabbing, onto the fic.
A pure yellow light blinded his eyes as he opened them slowly, and very carefully. His head felt as if he'd been hit with a ton of bricks, the pain so immense it was even difficult to keep his eyelids open, "...Where...?" he whispered, sitting up with difficulty, and running a hand through his soft, straw-coloured hair. He glanced around the room in a slight frenzy recognizing nothing until he saw his reflection in the mirror; A strong, round face, framed by two bangs golden yellow hair splitting at the center of his forehead where a small piece stood up like an antenna, the rest of his long mane fell at his back. Two large amber eyes, hardened with experience and knowledge far beyond his years, "...Who...?" he touched a hand to his cheek, shocked to feel a metal limb rather than a flesh one.
"...Edward?" He heard a voice speak a name, one that must have belonged to him since he was the only person in the dark, secluded room, "You're awake...!" A young girl walked over to his bedside, placing a hand on his cheek. Her face was hidden by the shadows, and he couldn't even recognize her voice, "We were so worried that you wouldn't wake up." He could make out a small kind smile creasing across the girl's lips, "I'm glad, Edward." she wrapped her arms around him in a hug like she knew him. And knew him very well, for that matter. Edward, however, flinched at that close contact of the unknown person.
"W-What happened?!" Ed pushed her off a bit more roughly than he has meant too, the perfume she was wearing sickening him a bit, "Who are you---No, who... Who am I...?"The teen looked rather scared, his large amber eyes widened in fear.
"Edward, calm down..." she patted his back, trying to calm him, "Calm down." she hugged him again, producing the same flinch from Ed who decided to not push her off this time, "...You must have hit your head or something on the way back through the Gate." she said quietly, confusing Ed even further at the word 'gate'.
Ed blinked, "What... gate?" as the word rolled off his lips, Ed's mind replayed some hidden memory in his mind. A large doorway of some sort, with human-like figures stitched out upon the sides and the top like some demonic decoration or art. In the center of it stood two large doors with engravings on it, a large eye with rays shining down. Suddenly the doors creaked open, and thousands of ominous eyes appeared, peeking out at Ed in an odd, foreboding fashion. Before Ed could shake himself from the vision, black almost elastic arms shot out, latching onto Ed's limbs and pulling him forward toward the seemingly infinite darkness within the gate. Ed took in a sharp gasp, again pushing the unfamiliar girl from himself, "L-Let go!" He rasped, and scrambled back on the bed like the arms were still after him.
The girl turned on the lamp in the room, revealing herself. She looked rather young, maybe 20 or so, with chin length black hair and light violet eyes that weren't at all comforting to Ed. She wore a long sleeved dress with a collar that completely covered her neck. The only part of her body that was not covered by clothing was her face, "The Gate. You know, the one that leads to the other world..." she sighed, however, still smiling warmly, "You must have forgotten. That’s alright."
Ed glanced at the girl, his mind so unfocused, confused, and blurry that he couldn't even begin to remember who she was. He knew in his heart that he knew her, he just couldn't place how, "...Who...?" Ed blinked, "I know you..." he whispered under his breath, grabbing suddenly at his head as if he could pull her identity out.
"Shhh..." She placed a gloved hand to his cheek, "Shh, darling..." Ed glanced over at the 'darling' part; she had used an affectionate term with him. Ed didn't know how to respond, "Of course you know me." she ran her hand on his cheek in a soft, comforting manner, "It's me...Dante."
