Like I do.
Edward used to hate crying. Hated it fiercely, but he
couldn’t stop himself. And every tear he shed, it was a story never told.
Little drops of salty loneliness, of sheer failure, that painted a road
between his eyes and hell. He knew names and faces, all those people who never
quite got their happy ever after, who had put their trust in him and had been
disappointed. Edward could and had twisted all over himself with guilt, knowing
how and when and why, knowing what his mistakes had caused, how he had
shattered their dreams during his blind quest, what had allowed others to
manipulate him into the ultimate sin.
But Edward was gone, and only he remained.
And he never cried.
“You’re thinking again,” There was always a strange lyric
quality to Envy’s voice, like the snaring hiss of a serpent. One knew it was
dangerous, lethal, but it was simply irresistable.
Pride smiled.
“You say it as if were something bad,” The golden haired
Sin didn’t turn to face his older companion and shrugged, his eyes fixed in the
distant city, trailing his gaze over the line of buildings, silently
contemplating the lambs patiently awaiting their slaughter, even if they didn’t
know it, yet.
“It is,” He didn’t need to turn around to know Envy was
grinning, mostly because all that Envy did was grin, “That generally leaves a
mess to clean up.”
“You like cleaning up my mess,” Pride retorted
with a twisted grin, and it set off Envy laughing like a hyena.
Edward used to love laughing. Loved it so much, he would
always hide his tears behind a curtain made of laughter. And every laugh he
shared, it was a wound that never healed. Gasping breaths of sheer delight,
each one a clever little lie to hide behind when the world turned to ashes and
his mind cracked just the tiniest bit more. Edward could and had buried it all
behind a wide grin – never as wide as Envy’s, neither grin or mask – and an
irresponsible attitude no one had ever been able to see through, at least not
in time.
No one but him.
But Edward was gone now, only he remained, and him…
“Yes,” Envy purred as he slid around him – around, over,
under, within – reaching out for a pale hand and whipping it clean with
a long stroke of his tongue, “Did he scream?”
Pride moaned as he fell back, his eyes sliding half shut
as he breathed deeply. Yes, he wanted to hiss, drunk in mad delight and
drowned horror, he screamed when he realized what I was, am, will be. He
screamed when the first hit came, when the blood began to pour out, when I bit
him and he came.
“He cried,” Pride admitted, watching Envy’s tongue
twirling with his fingers, little trails of blood decorating the corner of his
lips as he lapped it wantonly.
“He would,” Envy sneered, a godawful sneer that made
Pride want him – on him, with him, over him, around him – all over
again, “Fucking pansy.”
“He said he loved me.”
Envy left his now clean hands on his own waist, sliding
upwards with a malicious grin. Pride looked up at the wicked purple eyes, noting
the insanely possessive light in them, and groaned again when Envy ground
himself against him. The older Sin hissed in pleasure as he insinuated himself
into his personal space, hand clenching on the golden hair, soflty spilling
between his fingers.
“He didn’t love you, he didn’t even know who you were,”
Envy’s lips on his, tasting of blood and copper, his tongue twisting around
with his, his arousal pressing down his own.
“And you did?” Pride challenged him, eyes bright and
feral, fangs bared in warning.
Envy went silent for a moment, before Pride bit him, his
teeth sinking deep into him. The breathing moan could be barely be heard, but
it sated Pride enough to allow his companion release.
“Yes.”
