Prologue
“Phew – I’m so glad that’s finally over.”
“What’s over?”
“The Buu fiasco! It’s great to have that weight off my shoulders.” Kibitoshin relaxed and lay back in the grass to watch as clouds passed above them. Rou Dai flipped through pages of his magazine. Kibitoshin thought he was probably looking for girly stories.
“There’s only one thing I don’t understand,” Kibitoshin admitted after some quiet time had passed. He hadn’t been alone on this planet, but now that two were one, he wanted to make conversation of some sort. It seemed like the hospitable thing to do.
“Hm? What’s that?” Rou Dai didn’t look up from the magazine as he asked his question.
“You spent all that time and effort on Gohan when it ended up being Goku who destroyed Buu.”
Now Rou Dai looked up from the pages of his magazine. “I’ll have you remember, I did give up the rest of my mortal life to send that young saiyan back.”
“I suppose – but I think you had other reasons,” Kibitoshin stated shrewdly.
“Mmm – yes.” Rou Dai went back to reading his magazine. “
Well?” Kibitoshin asked when he realized his elder wasn’t going to give the information without someone pressing for it.
“Well what?” This whole talking business was getting in the way of his fun time. He might have to take his magazine to the other side of the planet if the youngster continued to talk. Maybe it had been a bit hasty for him to give him the Potara earrings. If Kaio-shin and Kibito hadn’t fused, then they could find ways to entertain each other, rather than this one being pestering him.
“Are you going to share your reasons?” Kibitoshin asked.
“As I told that young man I gave my life to, neither of them should have been able to defeat Buu alone. They were supposed to have used the Potara earrings to fuse. You do realize Buu wasn’t the first threat to the Universe, don’t you?” Rou Dai asked.
“Of course,” but Kibitonshin had to admit to himself Buu had been his only concern for a very long time.
“Then it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to understand he isn’t the last either.” “
I guess I hadn’t thought that far ahead,” Kibitoshin admitted. Now that Bibidi’s creation wasn’t the monster he used to be, Kibitoshin had been ready to try and settle into his new persona. It was taking some getting used to, now that his focus wasn’t on something outside himself.
“You young ones and your short sightedness,” Rou Dai sighed. “I used to be like that.”
“What did you do to fix it?” Kibitoshin asked –being accused of shortsightedness was quite a defect, for a kai.
“I didn’t do anything – I got stuck in that sword – remember?”
“Ah,” Kibitoshin paused. “I suppose this is your way of telling me that that person is still out there?”
“Mmm-hmm – more than likely,” Rou Dai confirmed. It had been over fifteen generations though – a lot could have happened.
“So you spent the time giving Gohan those powers and Goku your life for that threat and not Buu?”
“Gohan was the one who released the sword, but it took both him and Goku to break it in order to free me. Besides, Buu was you concern – not mine.”
“Well it all kind of makes a weird sort of sense.” Except Kibitoshin didn’t know what Rou Dai would have done if Buu had destroyed the universe. Maybe the elder still had some short-sidedness issues.
Rou Dai picked up his magazine and moved further away – “I’d like some quiet now.” Then he muttered to himself, “And I’d hoped by combining them I’d remedy their weakness.” He was certain the saiyans wouldn’t have had the same issue as Kibitoshin – which was being at a loss as to what to do with himself.
